Interactive maps (buttons)

Just like on vertigo in H4, I want interactive maps.
It was already in halo 2’s zanzibar so why not.

It ads more strategy to objective games.
Even CoD has things like buttons to close doors or ride a elevator.
It will also make gametypes like CTF or invasion more team based.

So 343 put it in, it isn’t to hard if it was in halo 2.

Yes yes and even more yes!

Bridges, doors, auto turrets, destructible rock formations, etc.

It is a very wanted, although not very talked about idea.

I think that this would go under the dynamic maps category due to the following:
Dynamic maps have different areas and positions that grant power to the users, but on the other hand sometimes can change the whole tide of battle.

Imagine a section of the city of New Mombasa with 8v8 Spartans in a Territory match.

Instance 1 Pushing Up the Map
There are 4 Bridges, Destructible paths, auto turrets, debris, and many more.

Lets say that there are 2 bridges for vehicle combat and 2 for infantry with a giant moat separating the two sides. In this instance blue team has a few smart players on the vehicle areas. There are two buttons on each side, both when activated collapse the bridge into water. One player keeps for say… a tank busy on the bridge while another one sneaks up on the red team’s side. A scorpion and Warthog then come from the corresponding bridge, that’s nearly the entire team. So the distracter gets killed, but the two outside players manage to collapse the bridge and the blue team gets to move up on red base, this in turn rewarding the players for their risk. 7vs0 for 5-10 seconds. In this time the blues can obtain any power weapons on the map and move up in the same time, thus giving the reds less comfort space. Soon however the bridge will soon come up.

Instance 2 Area Block-off

The two middle bridges are connected.

The reds on the other hand have a rocket launcher, a saw, and a machine gun but are constantly having trouble with the blue ‘reinforcements’. They view a pillar a building by the blues’ side. One red with the Rocket manages to dislodge this pillar and the building begins to collapse and blocks off most of the blues’ side of the bridge, giving more control and allowing the reds to cover the one exposed side, successfully . This in turn forces the blues to change their Bantha Fodder tactics and go for a different approach, giving more variety and mixed gameplay.

Instance 3 Map Advantage

Spinning off of Instance 1, the side that the blues destroyed(temporarily)was the side where most of the Reds’ vehicles come from, therefore giving a nearly forced route for the time being.
Note All Drastic Map Changes such as these should be temporary and gradually disappear.

RiskVsReward
These plays will reward smart plays and those done correctly, however they should be hard to pull off and if not done correctly, cause the downfall of the team that made the play.

This should promote more team play and usage of brains(such a map the way I described would not be ideal for MM due to the limitations imposed to make my point pronounced.

I agree completely! I feel like this was one on my least favorite things about the Halo 4 maps (even though I enjoyed them quite a bit). Halo 2 and 3 had a lot of interactive maps, I don’t know they got rid of them.

they should have on/off switches for turrets, auto-turrets, teleporters, gravlifts, man-canons and other things like that

INTERACTIVE MAPS:

We also require Maps to be Interactive. Maps are one of the most important things about Multi-Player. And a game with bad maps, will not play well. I believe Halo Maps needs to have more interactive maps like those of Halo 2 and Halo 3.

The Interactive Maps in Halo 2/Halo 3 were one of the reasons that made these 2 games so great.
CTF on Halo 3 Highground was hard, unless you could open the gate, which made it more easy. This gave the map another objective that needed to be defended and attacked.

The train on Terminal was a blast, as you watched the enemy drive off with the flag in the warthog, only to see it get splattered by the train. Even those in the warthog got a massive laugh out of it.

These interactive environments have all been lost since REACH and need to return. Look at what Dice is doing with BF4 (Evolution Maps). They Look bloody amazing and changes how the game is played.

I love to see more maps that have the following items that can be activated or deactivated:
Light Bridges
Elevators (That can fit a Tank)
Teleporters
Gates
Shield Doors
Auto Turrets / Base Defences etc

For example, Imagine a base up high, and at the front of the base is a large Elevator. You have the base pretty much covered, and the enemy is not having much luck breaking through your defences. The controls to the elevator are in your base, and left unguarded. The enemy teams works together and placed a Scorpion on the Elevator and sneak someone into your base to activate the elevator switch.

Then the Elevator comes up, with the enemy team and they have a Scorpion Tank. All Hell breaks loose. The game has changed or because someone activated a switch which activated the elevator. This would be awesome. And be great to see these elements available in FORGE.

I would like to see more gates that could be open and closed. The main interactive environments in Halo 2/3 were one way. Once activated, they remained open, except for Halo 2 map Containment.

Containment was a great map. The map had a Main Gate at both bases and when the switch for the gate was activated, you only had 30 seconds before it would close again. This created many great fights at the gate and the gate controls, as once you saw your gate open, you knew the enemy would be making an attack. You could also activate the gate as a diversion, as people mostly thought you would enter from the gate, but you sneak in around the side. This was a great map, and probably one of the best Halo maps made.

With the new Xbox One, 343 should be able to add many new and interesting Interactive Environments that were in Halo 2 / Halo 3.

Halo 5 needs to be great, and return Halo to the # 1 spot on Xbox Live, because we all know it deserves to be there.
