It becomes a rush gametype and it has ruined the competitive side of it
Say on Haven for instance if me and my team are holding down one of the corner stair cases and a enemy and i enter a firefight the enemy can drop my shields die and be back with a grenade in my face before my sheilds can even begin to recharge
By ruining the pace you mean it has actually discouraged camping? It has forced people to actually move around and keep the hot zones ALL OVER THE MAP?
If I had a heat map for Haven my entire map would be lit up because the encounters can and will happen everywhere and that in part is due to the instant spawn and the fact that I can hunt you down faster.
So stop camping by the stairs waiting for your shields to come back otherwise you deserve to be killed by me right away.
There are simple ways of defending against this.
Shielding armor ‘perk’: increasing your shield recharge rate.
Working as a team: get say two people with DMR/BR’s to select a target, both put two shots in their skull and move on to the next target. You can also Hold an area, it just needs to be bigger than a grenade explosion, like on Haven you can hold a stairwell, fight from the top/bottom, move to the other side of it to let shields recharge, or fend of the next wave of enemies.
It is more or less designed to keep the action flowing so you aren’t stilling there for 20 seconds with your thumbs up your -Yoink- waiting on the other team to respawn.
I agree. The instant respawn should be removed in general. It removes the originality Halo had, which was actually using teamwork to lock down areas. It’s not camping, it’s working together. And that’s what makes Halo a great game itself, but this instant respawn is making it into a COD. Knowing everyone is dead and u are able to achieve to an area to hold down is what Halo is about…

> so you’re that guy with active camo crouching in the corner with the sticky launcher? thought i recognized you
Usually wouldn’t be a problem if he doesn’t “load out” with camo and get a sticky detonator in an ordinance drop.
Instant re-spawn can be fun, just not in TS. If they wanted chaos and mindless running around with no strats, then they should of separated competitive from social playlists.
Regardless of whether people are camping or not, the spawning needs to be fixed. If you want to keep instant spawn in the game, be my guest. However, over the past few days I have had opponents spawn directly behind me. This is not acceptable. The opponent should not spawn near you, let alone behind you. Just yesterday I killed an opponent in Regicide and he respawned assassinating me.
I don’t have any problem with insta-spawning. If you’re sitting around trying to control an area (read: camping) then you’re just making yourself a predictable target. Kill people, then move a bit, that way he can’t just throw a grenade at your previous position. Grenades are way weaker than they were in Reach anyway.

They did? Oh thank -Yoink- for that. I got so sick so fast of being thrown into a game on the losing team, a few minutes from the end of a game that was already lost for the team I was being forced onto. Join in progress? All I heard upon discovering this feature in H4 was “fail in progress”.
I have nothing to say about insta-spawning that hasn’t been said already, so I’ll just +1 the OPs point and move along.
And to be perfectly honest, I’m sticking to Reach MP to avoid things like this about 4. “Disappointed” would be an understatement.
[Off-topic: OP, there is a typo in your thread title]
