Open Worlds games are rather . . . . . . empty and lifeless.
Most of the time the scale of the map just means that which populates the map is too little and with a very long period of downtime between encounters that have any sort of meaning. Objectives are spread far apart and the landscape is just basically rough terrain.
Don’t get me wrong, sometimes an Open World is a good thing.
But I would argue that some games need to have a classic HUB World.
Take a look at the likes of Banjo-Kazooie, the 3D Mario games, or even God of War 4.
A world where as the story develops, the HUB becomes more expanded and explorable while you venture from this centralized HUB to the various levels and environments that surround it.
I think for the future of the Campaign, we should have a HUB be made.
Perhaps a shard of Zeta Halo that sits near the center of the ring, so that we have a HUB region that we can explore while being able to travel to the Grassy Mountain region of Part 1’s campaign and the Desert Region teased in Part 2 of the campaign.
As our save-file progresses through the campaigns, the HUB becomes somewhat larger and more explorable; offering new insights and giving us new things to do between the regions.
Plus it would be a nice method for revisiting older areas to discover new things, complete new side-objectives, and have fun with an expanded sandbox of weapons and vehicles in older regions.
Thoughts anyone?
Weren’t they suppose to have animals in there somewhere, like a space rhino. I cannot recall having seen any animals. That makes it even more empty feeling.
That is a common misconception brought on by the marketing firm that made the Halo Infinite early trailers.
To showcase how the Blam! Engine had been upgraded visually into the Slipspace Engine, the marketing was made to showcase landscapes and wildlife as a demonstration of the engine’s capabilities.
Because of that, there is this misconception that Halo Infinite was supposed to have actual wild animals in it.
When in reality it only has those birds in the sky and nothing more.
If this is a change between engines it shouldn’t affect what they have already advertised. Just make it work in the new engine.
A great idea, but because of that, 343 will ignore you and your idea. They’ll continue to churn yoink in the pot that will sell out regardless sof how terrible it is.
Oh don’t get me wrong. I know that 343 has no respect of their target audience, consumerbase, and/or fans.
And they certainly don’t listen to feedback or criticism, especially on this forum.
The forum only exists to distract the masses and let us vent out our frustrations and make hypothetical “what ifs” while the directors at 343 do whatever they do at their desks.
When I think about how Halo infinites open world should have been set up, I tend to reference Dragon Age Inquisition’s level design with some adjustments for vehicle play. That model would have allowed for more biome diversity too.
