Instead of a Halo 3 themed update port Halo:Online

Hey all,
As a part of my efforts to pitch an idea to 343, I figured I go with the forums first.
So what is my idea you ask?
Halo 3 Backwards Compatibility for Xbox One and for those looking for a more modern experience, a port of Halo: Online for Xbox One.
With Halo 3 Anniversary being confirmed as not being in development by Frank O’Connor and Phil Spencer for this year, I believe that Halo 3 backwards compatibility will give classic Halo fans a way to play Halo 3 without the hassle that MCC provides. Additionally, this could help those who play the MCC by allowing those who want to or only play Halo 3 on that platform to play on a different one. This would allow people in BTB and other multi-game playlists to play games other than Halo 3. I have not played MCC in a while, so I’m not sure if endless streams of Halo 3 games still happens. I do acknowledge that a Halo 3 without 1080p 60 FPS on Xbox One doesn’t sound appealing from a technical standpoint, however I believe it’d be a classic experience so long as it doesn’t end up like Halo: Reach’s first time on Xbox One.
Why a port of Halo Online/What is Halo: Online?
Halo: Online was/is a free-to-play PC shooter developed by Saber Interactive exclusively to Russia. It uses a modified version of Halo 3’s engine, and features plenty of classic weapons, maps, and vehicles. It was canceled due to “Microsoft unable to make decisions on the future of the project” according to it’s Halo Wikia page. Think of this game as Halo 3 with sprint. I believe that this could potentially appeal to some of the more modern fans and also include some of the classic fans as well. As a fan, I believe it’s a cool idea, but I do also understand that a port of Halo: Online to Xbox One could be a waste of resources/time because there’s no guarantee that it would work. I do also acknowledge that not everyone wants something like this as well.
Remember that this is just an idea, and I accept any decision regarding Halo 3’s tenth birthday. I also acknowledge that Halo’s 15th Anniversary celebration could suffice as a sort of compensation for a Halo 3 thing as well.

No, we should strive for new stories, characters, and multiplayer experiences, not rehash old ones. They had their time, it’s time to move forward.

Alright, thank you for your input.

Halo Online would have to be free to play in order to work, as it was it’s original function. From what I’ve seen it looks like a cross between Halo 3 and Halo 4, which might be unpopular with fans. I would be fine with the idea of Halo Online coming to Xbox One, but a lot of PC free to play spin off titles of popular franchises are cancelled in betas and are forgotten. Many franchises have at least 1 game similar to Halo Online, and they are usually cancelled. I don’t think Halo Online is coming back unless Microsoft wants to test the waters with free to play again.

You make a good point, thank you for your input. :+1:

Just ducking port everything Halo to PC, and not as Windows 10 exclusives.
