Instead of a budget/item limits, how about...

…A Lag-O-Meter?
As you put more objects on the map, the Lag-O-Meter fills up. The more resource-intensive an object is, the more it adds to the Lag-O-Meter. If a person ignores the Lag-O-Meter, it’s their funeral.

What do you guys think?

Would be much better and less limiting i think >.>…

Like the Lag-O-Meter in Far Cry?? >.<

Even better: since we already have a global object limit (max total is somewhere around 640) that includes all objects, even “meta” ones like spawns, and since we have an even lower practical limit defined by how many objects can appear in the field of view before discoing occurs… 343 could just do away with the budget and per-category limits entirely*. Because the global max and the disco threshold are more than limiting enough.

Basically a “lag-o-meter” where the meter is your own good judgment.

  • Except for lights. Keep that at max 2.

since i work with maps that go over that threshhold (overlimit maps) you do see alot of framerate issues however all the people i play those maps with have no problem with it so ya a object lag o meter works and if you go over that lag o meter its still fine as you can continue, but you do have to set a limit somewhere or else some players will spawn a forgeworld with walls filling up the entire inside to where you cant move and that would cause SO MUCH ISSUES. I say a 1000 hard limit as forgeworld right now has 700 limit. that would be acceptable.
