Instant respawns need to be removed.

Pretty much the title. Now I’m not the kind of guy to complain about things, I generally just deal with it and tell people who are complaining to hush up, but I think I have a legitimate argument here.

With instant respawns the pace of the game has been boosted up from quick to horrendously quick. This has caused numerous problems. Instant respawns + small maps + sprint + DMR teamshots = A bad playlist (Mainly looking at you Team slayer). For example, you kill someone only for them to respawn less than a second later, sprint to where you are and finish you off.

It also causes a problem when it comes to teamshotting. Usually teamshotting is fine in the normal halo environment e.g. past halo games. However this time around, if you kill someone or multiple people they can instantly respawn and regroup with almost no troubles. Not to mention two people with DMRs are more effective than a rocket launcher. Nevermind four people. 80% of my deaths in Infinity team slayer seem to be due to teamshotting. This was never the case in past halo games as the respawn timer broke people up a bit. It took skill and co-ordination to pull off. Now any average Joe and his buddy can do it, with more effectiveness than should be possible.

I had a few other arguments but I’ve forgot them (Oops), will update the OP if I ever remember them. Think these will suffice in the mean time however.

EDIT: Oooh just remembered one of my arguments. It’s pretty short-winded. Just essentially saying that CTF has a set respawn timer and that flows and works much better than playlists with instant respawns. It has a more “Halo-like pace”.

What do you lot think? Am I just being whiny?

I got a double kill in swat today… we both killed each other on the double, but I saw the rest of the team as I died, I insta-spawned, hopped over a wall, and shot the other two players, CONTINUING my killstreak into an overkill (I died, respawned and killed the next people within the killstreak timer)

In otherwords: Good God, yes, instaspawns are ridiculous.

I understand Halo being fast paced but to be able to finish someone off and to be able to be finished off by the same person you were killed by/person you killed without so much as being able to take cover and regain shields is a little cheap. Either we need smaller shield recharge delays (I don’t mean a horrendously large buff) Or we need forced 3/5 second delays to spawn.

I’m an optimist and I can’t see a single redeeming feature of instant respawns.

Yesterday I killed someone, died, then instant respawned and killed someone else for a double kill. Surely those shouldn’t count?

i agree, you have said everything i would have said on the subject. insta spawn needs to go. as well as the the completely BS revenge spawn crap. i hate that after Ive waxed someone that they re-spawn behind me in shot me in the back or assassinate me. this really bad in regicide, and infinity slayer. BTB also has it bad.

Smaller shield recharges wouldn’t affect teamshots brought about by instant respawning or a spam of grenades from the person you previously killed.

At least a 5 second forced respawn timer is the only solution I can think of.

I 100% support the removal of instant respawn.

On a more serious note, instant respawn just speeds things up too much.

same as well, i love to -Yoink!-, and now…its pointless. an ya insta spawns speed it up way to damn much. as to team shotting? in my opinion if you cant go toe to toe with some one and win on you own with out interference from you butt buddies then your a straight up -Yoink-. this applies to halo and RL.

It also messes with where you spawn since you usually enter battle with most of your team and if you die first you can spawn right back next to them since they didn’t die yet. If there was a timer then your other teammates might die and then you’d both respawn on the other side of the map.

I have to agree with you on that. It breaks the pace of the game making it too fast.

3 seconds would make the action fast paced, while providing for some much needed strategy in 4v4. This shouldn’t be implemented into btb though, since that usually has such large maps anyway it just don’t matter.

In agreement here, too many times have I spawned just to get a cheap kill on the person who just killed me or vice versa.

That’s just unfair game play for the sake of not having to wait 5 seconds.

Remove instant spawns in MM entirely. It can stay in customs.

Perhaps the delay should be the the killcam time? I don’t know seems legit. Having the killcam there and then having the opportunity to insta spawn makes the killcam pointless (it’s why I always thought it was silly on CoD up until last kill of the match). So perhaps making us watch the killcam-giving you a short time to reflect is pretty cool haha

Instant spawns are horrible indeed.

Instant respawn in Swat is ridiculous.

Half the time it’ll spawn me in an enemies line of sight. Or I’ll kill a player then they respawn near me somehow most of the time behind me.

Yesterday I spawnned into death 3 times in a row, back to back all within 3 seconds and we lost because of it. There was nothing I could do about it. Just dropped me in the same spot 3 times infront of the enemies line of sight…

Like this is call of duty’s payback system or something? So the player I just killed is going to instant respawn near me and finish the gunfight they just lost? It’s really annoying…

^I’ve never had that problem… most is on abandon and we’ve taken the center and I get a triple kill right by their spawn, and 3 of them are on top of me in seconds. Felt very unfair.

I agree. Its silly that you can lose a 1v1, spawn, sprint and finish the same guy off before his shields regenerate.

Please 343; three, four or maybe three seconds at least?

I’m not sure about the other play lists, But instant respawn definately needs to go when Slayer Pro is concerned.
