I know the community has had their complaints, but I just got fresh out of a match of community forge FFA and let me tell you how much I hate it.
I got into a BR duel with another player and I won, with about 15% shields left. He respawns 6 METERS away from me but since we were fighting around corners a well placed grenade and headshot won the duel. Then I LITERALLY SAW HIM SPAWN IN FRONT OF ME, and plant a three round burst into my face. How is that a justified match? Three instant spawns right in front of me.
It’s not instant spawns as the problem, but the map spawns. I don’t think those maps support 8-player FFAs very well.

Instant Respawns, and i may have a lot of players disagree with me on this, but i like them, however, I agree, with the map spawns. They’re terrible, especially on certain maps, where i respawn right dead in the middle of all the shooting and end up dying right there and then.
Sadly that’s the flaw of all FFA maps. They have to be medium or small and clustered with spawns, That isn’t uncommon. I did playtests of my map before and it was rather distant for spawns, but still had the same issue.
Whenever i commit suicide instead of a “respawn now” button I get a “respawn faster” button.
Increasing the respawn time of each player might help.
Too many people acting like they have ADD needing to sprint and spawn instantly like crackheads. Just ruins the flow of gameplay halo used to have.
yeah I don’t see the problem with having to wait 3-5 seconds. I played some Halo 3 today and barely even noticed that I had to wait on a respawn timer. That is Halo to me. It was great actually. I could see where my teammates are with the d-pad and recollect myself for the next move once I respawned and 9/10 that spawn is much safer than the crap Halo 4 throws you into lol
If you don’t like it you always can play objective games such as CTF where there’s not instant respawn.
I believe that is a combination of instant respawn and map spawns. Instant respawns should be removed in place of either the traditional 5 second respawn or a 3 second respawn. And map spawns should be revamp completely.
Some things like Flood, Grifball, BTB, and Dominion can have instant respawns. But majority of the gametypes/playlists should not have instant respawning. IMO.

I agree it is the map spawns. IR are OK. Besides, you do have the option to wait the regular amount of time to spawn or instant respawn.
My favorite experience with this is on Skyline. I Boltshot someone right outside one of the team spawn zones, and then proceeding down into the spawn the same guy insta-spawns right behind a big box and the same exact thing happens. I think he left after that, and I’d have been pretty salty about that also.
my favorite is when i spawn in front of the blue base on exile when red has the tank, and i get blown up before i can move.
Instant Respawn for Halo is just a bad idea. Negates the “X” that pops up now and hands over cheap kills.
