Installing Halo 4 to hard drive

I’ve tried searching this forum and google to find the answer, but I am having trouble.

I’m aware that installing disc 2 will be about 8GB, but I can’t find any info on how much space installing disc 1 will be. I know that installing disc 1 is optional, but I loved having Reach installed and running silently all the time. I’m still using a 20GB Halo 3 console so I’m trying to allocate space for Halo 4.

Thank you for your help, and I’m sorry if this has been answered before.

I imagine disc one will be about 6.5 to 7.5 gb, also, there’s a rumour disc two is only about 4gb.

It’s a DVD disc so it wont be that mutch anyway.

Allso you can use USB memorys for extra space to save on.

Probably be close to 6-7 GB for the other disc. Might as well grab an USB drive, it’ll help

Would the game run just as quickly and efficiently on a USB drive as it would the console’s hard drive?

I think they said on a USB drive loading times might be a little bit slower as opposed to having it load straight from your HDD. But I don’t think it would be a significant difference either way.

you can always buy a 250gig HDD. I found a refurb for $80.00. Shoot! even a new one will only set you back $100.00

Problem solved.

I don’t really know, but I’m more concerned about how long it’s gonna take to install them. Installing a normal game takes pretty long, so I can’t imagine how long an 8 GB install will take!

You will need 8 gb free, but disk 2 is only 3,7 gb.

I was thinking this too. I want to download before i start playing but i dont want to wait for an hour or two. Hopefully it will download while i start campaign

A friend of mine said that both discs were 8GB. Now with disc 2 you install it and then don’t have to use it afterwards as it will work just fine off of disc 1.

My brother-in-law was using a USB drive for games like Reach and some other ones for awhile till he got a bigger hard drive but it’ll run just fine, his did.

buy an aftermarket 320gb from ebay for $54.00

Call me a bit paranoid or just cautious over the tech that I buy but I personally don’t like to purchase pre-owned hardware (consoles, controllers, especially hard drives.)

I read an article on Yahoo! or some gaming website that said it wasn’t a good idea to buy the pre-owned hardware. I know that there is no way GameStop (at least the one I work at) would sell any piece of pre-owned hardware that doesn’t function properly.

I just personally like buying new so I know that it will work and if it doesn’t I can exchange it without a hassle.

1st disc install (optional): 7.3 GB
2nd disc install (War Games, Spartan Ops): 3.5 GB

You should try getting a 250 hd from amazons warehouse deals. I’ve seen some pop up for around 50-70 bucks and their OEM

it’s about 8GB like the 2nd disk.

> I heard you don’t have to install disc one.

You don’t have to, but you can for the usual reasons of installing a game disc to your hard drive. I’m going to start doing that with all my games now that I know the benefits.
