Installation Stopped - 2019/01/29 Update Xbox One.

Yesterday Halo Wars 2 started downloading a 40 something GB update. It stopped before not long after it started. I cleared the queue, looked for the game in the ready to install and it wasn’t there. I realized I had fallen foul to the “have to redownload the game” update glitch. So, then I looked in the store only to find that the Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition is not there; seeing there is a Complete Edition, for the same price of the Ultimate, brought back bad feelings about the Ultimate Edition not being, well, ultimate. :broken_heart: Lesson learned.

I shamefully browsed to Halo Wars 2 regular edition (:sob::sweat_drops::ocean::sailboat: …I know, I know) and saw the prompt to install. Download starts and then I get the “Installation Stopped” pop up. Just a moment ago I tried and keep getting the same message. Now I need help with this. Also, why would the game not appear on my ready to install?

EDIT: To be clear, I own the digital HW2 Ultimate Edition.

I do not know how to fix your issue of it popping up on your ready to install. But hard resetting your console usually fixes the download issue.

  • The game can’t be seen neither list, installed nor ready to install (I even unhid items) - I can still manage because I have it pinned - When I try to select the game on the qeue the error is 0x80070570. I deleted the game and it will not install.I will try hard resetting even though my console is set to turn off completely.

I hard resetted my Xbox One and now HW2 appears on the installed games list. But when I select to manage it says 0GB. So I uninstalled it and then selected it from the ready to install sub list and gave me the same “installation stopped” message.
Help.

If I’m remembering this bug correctly it’s something with Xbox Live. This sounds dumb but have you tried pausing and unpausing the update?

I just tried that and still get “install stopped” when I unpause it.

Under the Manage > Ready to Install menu it says HW2 file size is 43.3GB. Is that correct or is it trying and failing to d/l an older build?
EDIT: Actually, on the Games and Apps bottom left it says the download total would be 43.10GB. I have all Ultimate dlc installed but that totals 90MB, not this ~200MB difference.

I cleared all saved game files and I still can’t get Halo Wars 2 to install. There is more than enough space in the HDD to install it twice. I tried internal and external HDDs and still wont install.

This is lame. Now HW2 appears as installed, except it says 0GB. If I try to start it gives me 0x87e1000c error. Today I downloaded an update for For Honor and reinstalled all Dlc for HW2, no problems. I will delete HW2 and its dlc, restart the console and see what happens.

EDIT 1:
Holy *****, HW2 will not go away! After re-re-deleting (from HDD2, wich is where it has always been located) and restarting the XO it was still there “installed” all of 0GB. But it’s there. I deleted it once more and once again selected the game from “ready to install”. This time I selected a different external HDD (I’ll call this HDD1) than the one it was already (which is HDD2). It started the download and at the time I type this has already d/l about a gig. Ill edit again to report if it completed HW2 and all dlc (and if it works -just a quick start it & browse menus check, nothing serious as I already have lost the day on this).

EDIT 2:
Ok, so the game and dlc installed and played successfully. But, I wanted the game and all DLC on (its original) external HDD2. Guess what? All dlc was moved successfully, except the game itself. It stopped the install for the game. Could the update have corrupted the game in the HDD2 it was originally in when it was being applied and now it cant delete/find that file? Someone send this to the team because it means that maybe the update damaged/locked that space/file in the HDD2 (maybe if I reformat it will “finally” delete whatever it was left of it. A headache, since there is a LOT of games there) :weary:

EDIT 3:
I tested moving a different game from external HDD1 to external HDD2 it was successfully transfered.

EDIT 4:
Transfering (this day…night is far from over) content from HDD2 to HDD1 so I can re-format HDD2.

EDIT 5: Success! Re-formated HDD2 and was finally able to install HW2 in it. So it appears either the HW2 update or, as posted above, an Xbox Live glitch, take your pick, screwed up the original game file and as a result it could not be deleted nor overwritten. Total loss of my day and I still havent re-installed everything. I hope this helps someone to understand more about this problem and for the developer/publisher to avoid this in the near future.

So I haven’t played HW2 in quite a while, but it’s been on my Xbox hard drive all along. Like the OP, I saw an update in the queue, and it made me want to fire up the game. So I tried to, and I’m in the exact same boat as the OP now. Update wouldn’t install, deleted everything, now nothing will install. Cleared local saves, etc. Nothing works. I actually own both the digital version and the physical disc (originally bought xbox disc, later bought digital so I could play on PC, too). Even putting the disc in the xbox results in “installation stopped”. So much for my urge to play a recent favorite. Now I’m just annoyed. Does anyone have any advice other than hard reset (which didn’t work for me)??? BTW - all dlc content re-downloads just fine - leaders, AtN, etc. It’s just the damn game…

I hope the edit/update on my previous post help you solve the problem for the moment while the developer finds a fix for this.

Had I had the game installed in the internal HDD then it seems the only way, as there is no way to reformat, is a full factory reset (if that works or not there are conflicting posts in this forum)

Thanks - I did finally get it re-installed and working with a factory reset. I had tried a reset previously and it did not work. I’m guessing that had something to do with add-ons still being on my external drive, which I stupidly left connected. Just a guess. All I know is it finally worked and I’m happy to be messing around with HW2 again!

This update glitch is starting to annoy the hell out of me, followed countless steps to clear cache, uninstall game ect with same outcome, again like someone mentioned previously, what’s the point in selling an ''Ultimate Edition" when it’s not, false advertising, miss selling a product, takes the Mick even more when you can’t play the game you paid £60+ for on release day . Il be boycott any further releases from now on , was long time halo fan but not now
