Installation 04's surface

I have two pictures of Halo installation 04:

One ripped from Halo CE

And another I -believe- is from Halo Anniversary that’s pictured here:

But the second one looks completely different and I can’t find anyone that actually says it’s ripped from Halo Anniversary, so it may be fan-made.

Where do you imagine the control room is on either of these maps? Did Bungie even take that into consideration?

I need to know for a project I’m working on and need to know which areas to make covered in snow like the control room and its surrounding canyon is.

If no one knows, I’ll just guess.

If the second one is correct, here’s what I came up with (ordered by likeliness).

Thank you. I’ve been thinking on it and I believe I’ll use the first one as I know for certain that one was canonical in CE at least seeing as no source is confirmed for the second.

I also choose the first because of the Cartographer Island. In the grand scheme of Halo, it should be pretty small and the islands on the second image are too big.

On the first map, there is a group of islands about a quarter of the image from the right. And comparing that with the opening scene from the level, the island and those near it are surrounded in front and back by larger landmasses.

But, it would be really cool if 343 added an additional “Anatomy of Halo” which showed pinpoint locations of key areas of the ring we’ve visited. I would love them forever if they did that, hint hint nudge nudge.

Now THAT would be cool. If they did that for 05, I’d be drooling over the Library map…I LOVED the aesthetics of those levels.

I doubt you actually be able to see the Cartographer island on either map. That island couldn’t have been move than 1000m from one side to the other. The Halo’s diameter was 100,000km, so the Cartographer would be tiny on that map (which would have to cover an area larger than 100,000km).

Sorry if this is a bit hard to understand.

Halo’s diameter is 10,000 km ( a bit smaller than Earth diameter ) and also that’s the diameter, not the thickness of the ring.
