Installation 04 Marines

How do I make them come back after they’ve all died? Also, how do you make them useful instead of instantly dying?

Everyone already knows they suck.

After each round, a pelican will drop them off with a Warthog, they will actually get in the Warthog if they have been dropped off.

Nothing you can do to not make them die a lot, they are naturally weak.

Well, I just discovered that by making the wave traits very good, it applied to the marines as well so it made them stronger, do more damage, and actually shoot at the enemies.

  1. Look around for moderately high places from which a marine can fire from and won’t be shot at.
  2. Arm 1 with a sniper or rocket launcher.
  3. Ram 1 with hog to launch him up to that location.
  4. Better marine support.

Of course, this is just conjecture. I don’t have CEA. This is just applying the results from my LNoS demo testing and various YT videos that show Reach physics.

Theres weak and then theres “are you gonna fire at the enemy today buddy?”

Average timeline of a game on easy:

  1. Spawn next to vehicles on other side of the map.
  2. Drive to base to meeet up with marines. It leaves very little time to get set up and find them.
  3. Wave 1 starts. A drop ship, whose turret you have wisely blasted off, drops some grunts.
  4. Rush out and kill all the grunts.
  5. Run back to base before wave 2 starts.
  6. Looks around…
  7. Every marine looks like they were raped and mutilated.

As much as 343 didnt want to give overpowered assitants, would marines that actually fired while standing directly in front of the enemy have been so bad? They seriously run if front of grunts and die standing there. They get stuck and run directly towards me Seriously. There is a supremely large line between balancing and sabatoging, and it is very obvious that 343 crossed it.

Reach friendly AI are deserving of the title “Reachtard”. However, we can’t pin this whole thing on 343. It was Bungie’s decision that friendly AI would have slow reaction time.

Useful marines would be much appreciated, as this is a tough map when you’re playing it by yourself. I love the look, but there is too much cover for enemies until they’re right on top of you, and that *#@$; man cannon really needs to go. That thing is just a nightmare.

I just with you could give them custom skull effects that don’t also effect the covenant. Make them 2x as durable and make them do 2x more damage.

Can I see that video?

The various YT videos? Here’s some of them (they’re not mine and all done with the Revenant):

I can’t guarantee that this will work with a warthog but it seems feasible (again, not mine):

Yeah I know that the targets all had shields. But it’s still possible to send a marine or trooper flying without splattering them. I have footage sending a trooper up with a Wraith but the quality is so hideous (camera) that you don’t want to see it.

You can’t really make them useful. The friendly AI in Reach is absolutely shocking, worse than Combat Evolved. You can give them heavy weapons like Rocket Launchers, but once the enemies get up close, they don’t fire, preferring to let the enemies shoot them to pieces.

I’m a little annoyed that only one ODST shows up to reinforce. I expected more would be in the Pelican to replenish the ones that were killed in the earlier round.
