Will CE:A be optimized to run from the HDD, and how big will the file size be?
Yes.
And since the original Halo CE is 2.4 gigs, and since it will be running two engines at once, an educated guess would be anywhere from 5 gigs to 7 gigs.
Just use the HDD. The memory card will lag you to death.
Better question is can we download the game from “Games on Demand” rather than have a disk

It’s 4.7 GB.

I’d be really suprised if HCEA wasn’t available on GoD at some point, but I think you’ll have to wait at least until early 2012.
I was wondering how big the original game was. We shall wait and see as to the anniversary edition with the different multiplayer component.
> I was wondering how big the original game was.
It’s 4.7 GB, but that also includes all the multiplayer since it’s part of H:CE. How big HCEA will be once the original multiplayer parts have been removed and with the new graphics and utter stuff added to it, I don’t know. But I’d be surprised if it was more than around 6.5 GB in total.
> It’s 4.7 GB
That’s suprising big compared to something like ODST which is only 3.5GB.

Not when you consider that H:CE’s campaign is at least four times longer than ODST’s, that it also has more multiplayer maps than ODST has FF maps, and that ODST’s FF maps are basically just small parts from campaign levels.

Also consider that developing video games nowadays is a lot of creative data compression, and it wasn’t necessarily like that 10 years ago.
