Install Error 0x80070490

Hello,

When I try to install Halo 5: Forge I get the error code 0x80070490 but only on my two 2TB HDD’s in RAID0 not on my
boot drives which are three 120GB SSD’s in RAID0 as well. This only happened recently since I just bought these two HDDs to replace my two 10+ year
old HDDs which were not in RAID. I had installed Halo on one of them before I got the new HDDs and it ran just fine.

If needed I can post PC specs.

Thanks for the help!

Hey Chosen, that error suggests something wrong with the file system according to Microsoft’s support article on the error code: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/958044. You could try doing a clean boot and see if that helps any or run the update troubleshooter:

  • Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting. - Select Troubleshooting. - Select View all on the top left corner. - Click Windows Update troubleshooter. - Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter. - Check if issue persists.

None of these solutions worked and like you said this seems to be a problem not with installing this but with everything. Tried installing other apps and the same problem occurs. I have decided to move this question over to Microsoft’s support page here

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_store/microsoft-store-install-error-0x80070490/8805fa68-790e-4b2b-9d02-0171a515c980?tm=1473828943600

since this seems to be a larger issue.

Thanks for the help anyways!

Hopefully they can help you out then, be sure to let us know how you get on!

Error code 0x80070490,
I could not install Forge after HDD failure and swap to new HDD.
Found the link below which worked for me.
Forge now installs on the new HDD.

" When you switch the default APP installation drive the APPX Manager not only saves the drive letter but it also saves it’s volume ID. So if you switch out your drive for another, you will get the error because it has a different volume ID.
Now to solve this problem, we have to go to the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\PackageVolumes\x
where x is a number from 1-n.
You have to take a look inside and look for a reference to the hdds drive letter. Then you just delete the numbered folder and restart.
VOILA, you can now install things again on your drive."
