I’ve already posted this in the bug report thread, but I feel like this is a big enough issue to deserve its own post, because it barely seems to get any exposure.
There is a similar post that only discusses the mouse not responding in the main menu, but the problem goes much deeper than that.
Something related to the input seems to be completely broken.
Menu options don’t respond when clicking on them with a mouse.
In-game, the action / reload button only works when it is pressed the first time in a life. After that, the game acts like the button remains pressed, even though it’s not.
Weapons cannot be reloaded after the first time, and every weapon you walk over will automatically be picked up. This is particularly annoying because weapons you drop cannot be picked up again.
This behaviour resets when you die and respawn, but immediately re-appears after pressing the ‘X’ or ‘E’ button again. (Playing on the default control scheme).
This is the same for the D-pad. After pressing up on the D-pad once, it keeps spamming the location ‘ping’ sound, until you die and respawn.
To resolve this I have tried to booth up the game with only a controller, or only keyboard and mouse connected, or (dis)connecting any or all of the input devices. I’ve tried out different controllers, and made sure my driver software was up to date. I’ve tested the game on different PCs and accounts as well, and the issue remains, so it definitely doesn’t look like it’s hardware related.
This bug first appeared for me one or two days before the latest maintenance patch, and has been present ever since.
I don’t know about these mis-clicks and everything, but I have experienced A LOT of input lag that many people have mentioned on comments sections, which REALLY needs to be fixed.
I actually have those bugs, it’s very annoying, but since there have been a lot of updates, does the bug disappear? I mean does an update make the bugs inexistant?
I just want to drop in to tell that, more than a year later, this issue still persists for me. Controller inputs still get stuck in-game. I’ve tried different PCs, and different controllers (Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3rd party), but the issue remains. Sometimes the game will suddenly function normally for a while, but then the issue can randomly pop back up. You can instantly tell it’s there when you boot up the game, and the button prompts keep showing the keyboard controls, instead of the controller ones on the screen.
There are multiple issues that I am aware of which really need to be fixed.
The menus being broken I can work around. When I press custom search I like to use the option to input a keyword for the search. Now I have to add a specific tag instead because when I click on “+add a custom keyword to the search” there is a click noise but absolutely no response. It’s impossible to add a custom keyword to a search for maps, gametypes, prefabs etc. etc… very frustrating.
More importantly, my in game text chat used to work just fine but now THE FUNCTION IS BROKEN.
I will hit T or Y and I am able to broadcast one message per game but as soon as I press T or Y again to type a second message ALL INPUTS FREEZE!
I can’t move my character aim switch items or even hit esc to open the main menu, leave and rejoin a lobby. I host a lot and I can’t talk to the players about custom content.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas for fixes? I’m tired of typing “I can only send one message before my game crashes” in every lobby.
Otherwise I’m super happy to have halo 5 forge on pc with windows 10!!! It’s AWESOME!!!

problems getting worse with menus. I had a parameter error today which wasn’t happening before. windows defender said an app might not be working properly (windows store). I tried the app troubleshooter, rebooted, reset the windows store, the halo app, and the halo 5 forge app but problems are getting worse. mouse input lag is really bad but people this isn’t the only problem.
before people were joining my lobbies playing and their names would not show up in the lower left or back button roster menu.
they’d get a kill and it should say “player1 [nade icon] gamertag2”
instead its “invisible/no gamertag [nade icon] gamertag2”. I thought it was some glitch or mod, then I turned on halo today and it started happening to my gamertag!!
I can’t believe it.
How do you reset all parameters? where is the installation directory on the C:\ drive? i’ll delete the cache and reset the .cfg files myself if no one will tell me what the button/key combiniation is for clearing the in game cache.
ALSO TEXT CHAT IS STILL BROKEN! THAT’s THE WORST IN MY OPINION!!!
Updates do not fix the bugs. my installation is 31.0gb. windows store not downloading updates? but I have wernecke wrecker etc… I don’t get it. how to manually install updates?
Please fix this game for PC. Put out an update because reinstalling doesn’t correct the issues. Now content browser is lost along with my files, bookmarks and all the other problems mentioned previously.
