To 343 Industries,
Both Halo 4 and 5 are exceptional masterpieces by 343, in my opinion. They have great and imaginative weapons with very good game play. Even the small changes of these weapons from 4 to 5 were impressive. The games simply make me feel good, to play. Halo 4 holds the #1 prize for best story and interaction between Master Chief and Cortona. That one touched my soul. Thank you for that. Halo 5’s look of really cool weapons, great levels to fight on as well as the sounds associated with the weapons. All this is magic to my eyes. 343 industries has me exited for Halo 6 and beyond. Excited for the next game in the series to come out. Isn’t that something we all look forward to?
Of all the Cortona’s throughout the Halo universe, none can compare to the perfection of the one created for Halo 4. Cortona was beautiful, innocent and had the face of a women with a natural beauty. All the critics saw was “naked”. Nothing more. An A.I. that had the outline of a women with no details that usually go along with the word “naked”, was nowhere to be found. Missing the whole picture of who and what Cortona is. An A.I. that longs to feel and understand what it means to be a human just like the soldier she protects and guides in the Halo world. As we all know, the one she loves. She seemed so real. Cortona projects herself as she sees a human women to be. Not ashamed, innocent of any wrong doing and just a little naive of how a human male might look upon her. Clothes or an outfit wouldn’t make any sense. Can you see the statue of David wearing shorts? When I saw her in Halo 5 I was taken back. Why change something that was so beautiful. That fit in so perfectly.
Halo 5 was a good story about chief looking for Cortona with a group of Spartans on his tail. I know the story had it’s downside but it was still very enjoyable to me. And if the new Cortona is now the grown-up, much wiser Cortona. Then I can understand the change whether I like it or not. I can only hope the A.I. that created such a special bond with her companion will come back where she belongs. An innocent and beautiful projection of what she believes to be a human female she may one day be born anew into. It is her dream. This a world of imagination. Your imagination. My imagination. I never want to lose that. Thank you 343. You make a hell of a game.

As I said in the thread Why 343:
The campaign has been the main complaint of almost everyone who bothered to play it through in its entirety. It has been emphasized enough that nothing can be said that hasn’t already been said, negative or positive. Whatever character development there was in the campaign was slow, the plot was generic, Jul 'Mdama died to the starting gun, etc.
I hardly believe, however, that yet another thread for further discussion is warranted.

Yeah, I think any issue about Cortana’s beauty takes a backseat to the fact she murdered potentially millions of innocent beings without a second though or concern for what she did. How that blatant out of characater moment helps Halo 5 be a masterpiece is beyond me.
This is a very interesting and unique way of seeing Cortana’s change in character from Halo 4 to Halo 5.
I think we are seeing is Cortana’s newfound freedom and power to pursue her vision in her change in appearance in Halo 5.

Her uniform certainly strikes me as something a dictator would wear. It’s a bit sad that she has all this freedom and she uses it to prop up an ideology helped doom the Galaxy.
I just wish that they held the “Cortana’s Alive!” for later in the game at least.
so basically cortana is only beautiful when she is half naked but as soon i she has a forerunner combat skin she isnt?

Pretty much this. No matter how you look at it, nobody can deny that Cortana did some awful things in order to achieve her goals. I don’t care if she’s looking to bring peace to the galaxy or rule it under an iron fist, it’s all the same when her means are to kill millions of innocents to get her way. The ends most definitely don’t justify the means, especially if the means are that violent and barbaric.
There are certainly some good parts to Halo 5’s campaign, but there are many more downsides that weigh it down to the point where I can’t understand how anybody could call it a masterpiece.

This is true, they actually thought during the early stages of halo 4 that they should have replaced everyone, but it was shot down by someone smart. Lol
Edit: you know… I wonder what it would have been like if they had replaced everyone… maybe it would have been more fitting to 343’s image of halo… hu… food for thought.

Technically i never left waypoint but I’ve been lurking a lot more, none of the threads have really caught my interest so I’ve just been in the role play threads at the community creations forums…

Mmm Seriously. Her design in Halo 3 was literally the best. I can’t really get upset that 343 changed her looks cuz she has yet to look the same in any game without changes. I was happy her personality stayed consistent until h5 and was upset 343 destroyed her character rather than leaving her dead in h4. She is my favorite character in the franchise and h5 ruined her.
also yes, 343 tried replacing Jen Taylor and master chief, they admitted to it when interviewed about it, not sure if there was ever a reason to it though.

What about h2A cortana, that’s my favorite. However, I do like her short hair from Halo 1. If thay could mix those two together… then I guess I would have a mmmm moment… lol

I quite like it and, well she has other priorities now like ruling the galaxy. The armour is, I think, purely decorative so I guess she wouldn’t have needed to change it. They seem to have added it to visually change her to reflect her assumed role and make her look more powerful. I mean in some of the concept art she looks radically different so they actually went with a look that was very close to her in Halo 4. I wouldn’t even say the bodies proportions have changed as I know some other people like to claim.
I am assuming they couldn’t get the person who did her motion capture last time and that’s why her face looks slightly off. Its also not helped by the angles since we’re never really looking directly at her face since shes not as tall as Chief. When her face is level with the camera and shes not breaking her neck looking at the 7 foot space marine she looks nice enough. But I think they did go for a look a like to her in Halo 4.
But yeah, her avatar is still a pretty idealised representation of a woman in all seriousness and I don’t think 343 were trying to tone her down from Halo 4 or anything like that.
I had to look away for almost every cut scene because even though she doesn’t have those naked ‘details’ you’re talking about…she was pretty much naked. So I liked it better that she was wearing armor in halo 5. Also, it seems like…<sigh> wishing that she was the perfect women she once was… no. I know it stinks that she turned evil but she’s just a video game character.
