When trying to join friends i’m getting “initializing lobbies” for a few minutes then “could not connect to host”. There are three of us and we cannot join each other or have more than one of us join the same lobby someone is hosting. Also probably 50% of the people hosting none of us can join.
Started happening yesterday, can anyone help?
I am getting the same problem and can’t join like 50% of the hosts too.
A friend an I have been having this issue since the HW2 patch. We have the same issue on Xbox and PC. I can only assume something has been changed server side.

Same problem with me, and it’s affecting everyone I know that plays this game. Something is wrong with the ability to join games.
Glad to know its not just myself and my friends! Hopefully they’ll do something about this soon! This is one of the few games I enjoy now on Xbox.

I would guess that something was changed server side for the HW2 connectivity patch which has messed up HWDE connections. Guess they forgot to test it. Question is though, will it ever get fixed.
Same problem here. On the phone with Xbox Live tech support about it. They are no help.
In the mean time, been playing the 360 version with no issues. Well… no issues other than trying to find people of course.
Yeah, I contacted Xbox Live tech support about it to see if they can try and get something done, but they just directed me here.

This has happened to me as well. It seems like many of the lobbies in halowars de I have tried to join I get no connection to. I don’t know why, but I hope it gets fixed.
Happening here as well. Tried playing with a friend with computer’s next to each other and getting the failure to connect to host problem. Hopefully it will be fixed soon

Sad to say I think there doing this on purpose to get everyone over to halo wars 2. If not they would have left matchmaking in definitive…they have to realize that’s what the people playing this game want. But now it’s totally unplayable. Lol… HALO plz fix this. Games literally unplayable!!!
Hey 343, there’s an enormus issue right now. I can’t connect to my brother’s game. We are on the same wifi network but me and him can selectively connect to each other at random. Most of the time it gets stuck “initializing lobby…” and timing out!!! This game is so broken. This is why we have no more players. Why don’t you guys make this game exactly the same as the 360 version for matchmaking, and fix this stupid issue? The only reason why I play the definitive edition is for graphics improvements, but come on. If the game is broken, how can we play??? Fix it!!!
I have this exact same issue, it doesn’t connect most of the time I thought it was my wifi, apparently not…
