Here’s the trailer if anyone hasn’t seen it. My first reactions are mostly positive. The inclusion of the Elks and walkie talkie at 0:20 and 0:37 made it appear as if the trailer is not just for Halo. However, we will assume that everything in the trailer is for Halo Infinite until told otherwise. Throughout the entire thing there is a blue/white light flying throughout the sky. Perhaps it’s the monitor of the halo ring.
At 0:30, there are some strange symbols engraved in the wall that don’t appear to be Forerunner
At 0:32, there are small rings that reminded me of the miniature halo ring from the novel Shadow of Intent.
At 1:05, you can see a crashed pelican cockpit and by the looks of it, it is the classic pelican design. I’m very happy about that as the new pelican looked way too bulky in the front and not aerodynamic at all.
At 1:10 there’s a submarine looking thing. I have no idea what this could imply.
At 1:17 we got some marines walking through the mini rings. They look to be closest to the Halo Reach marines. I’d prefer the Halo 2A ones, but whatever. The first thing I thought of when looking at the backs of their legs was that it looked similar to fortnite. I don’t know if it’s just me but I hope they don’t make it too cartoony.
Then at 1:32, the money shot. As much as I loved Chief’s Halo 4/5 armor, I don’t mind that he’s reverting back to classic Mark 6 as long as they give a good canonical reason for it. I don’t want any nanobots this time. We also hear a Halo 3 OST (One Final Effort I think it’s called). It could be hinting to classic music as well.
Afterwards there’s a warthog with no turret as it pans to the halo ring. I’ve also noticed the Foreruner structures that shoot the blue light from the second mission of CE, though they appear to be taking a shinier and sharper Halo 4/5 aesthetics. There’s some weird blue glow on the Halo ring that could have to do with Cortana.
After the title card, we see Chief putting a chip into his helmet. Since Cortana’s evil now, there could be a multitude of reasons why he has the chip in his helmet that could really use its own thread.
It seems like it could be an open world Halo game that I’m not opposed to, but could be done wrong and alienate the fan base.
What looks to be confirmed is the Halo Wars 2 art style and Master Chief’s old helmet. Everything else is up for speculation. I have high hopes for Halo Infinite. What do you all think of this?
