Initial Rank. How does it work?

Me and my friends come in gold, platinum and diamond rank across playlists and we can’t seem to understand how the initial ranking works?
Is it based on all stats of people already ranked? Is there a limit to how many people who can be in a rank? Is there some personal skill/stats involved?

It’s all about wins. You can get a 20-5 K/D in Slayer and loose the game and you’ll drop in Csr which is BS

False. The placement games are not based on W/L % at all.

If I had to guess, the 10 placement games are based solely on individual skill combined with who the system places you against, their rank, and how well you do against them. So if you lucked up on your first game and got to face some people in the Diamond range and you scored positively against them (Kills, deaths, and assists all accounted for) then the system would place you against more people in that range. If you managed to do well then it may move you up to where you’re facing people in the Onyx range, but if you didn’t do as well then you would drop down to Platinum. So the system would rank you based on how well you did against any ranks you faced within your 10 games. However, it is unclear how it would place you if you faced a majority of unranked players.

That seems to make more sense. Would like the developers to comment on it. Maybe explain it in the weekly community update.

I’m not sure that’s the case. I had my best ten matches in Slayer, and ended up with a 2.40 K/D (19.7 KPG) and got placed in Diamond. Fairly certain that losing two matches is what caused me to rank there, most of my matches were Platinum-Onyx range.

You could be right though, I ended with Onyx in Team Arena after ending that ten game series with a 1.93 and placing MVP for a majority of them. Perhaps its a blend of both?

I have a friend that placed Onyx with only 2 wins in Swat. Maybe the playlists have different thresholds for placement because it seems to be harder to place higher in Slayer than in Swat or FFA from what I’ve seen and what my friends are experiencing. Also, I’m seeing a lot more Onyx in said playlists than any others. It could be coincidence though.

No reason why it can’t be a combination of both team and individual perf.

E.g., base on who you win against, but bump up / down a little based on perf.
