Inital 4 stages of every halo game, ever.

Stage 1: Game is released
Forums run rampant with “Cant wait until the game is released” threads. First reviews come out and links to them.

Positive Threads to Negative Threads: %90 / %10

Stage 2: First few days
Game is generally praised on the forums, few complaints are expressed

Positive Threads to Negative Threads: %80 / %20

Stage 3: Week passes by
Whiners gain momentum and start nitpicking more about weapon “X” not being like weapon “X” in the previous game. Aspect “Y” is not the same like aspect “Y” in the previous game, object “Z” is OP…ect ect. Change of any sorts starts being expressed as a negative significantly more and more. Calls for refund from overzealous drama queens start.

Positive Threads to Negative Threads: %60 / %40

Stage 4: A month passes by
Nostalgia, having altered the memory of complainers to the idea that previous games were significantly better than they actually were, start coming out in droves and complaining how inferior this game is to the previous one(s). Demands for developer to “Fix the game or else I quit!” start being the norm. Topics pretending to be constructive criticism start being seen about now, stating in a calm collected tone that “This game is a failure because of X, Y, and Z!”, but in actuality are demands for reversal of any changed aspects. Threads about the “death of the franchise” start. Reasonable and realistic people decide to leave the forums and come back at a later stage when the unrealistic demands and rampant hate has died down a bit.

Positive Threads to Negative Threads : %20 / %80

Its like this with every new halo game, and likely will be with every future halo game.

Rampant complaining like that exists now has existed with every previous halo game, and will with any future halo game. All those people who are complaining about 343i and halo 4 will do so with halo 5, and have probably done so with 3/ODST/Reach with Bungie. The game is great, and is a success on par with all the previous halo games when it comes to quality (Although I like the Campaign here a little more than in some preveious halo games).

TL;DR - Game is great, people have an unrealistic memory of previous games being better. Forums are going like clockwork.

“No, Halo 4 is so bad it breaks the cycle, there’s no hope, the world is ending, aaaaaaaaaah…!”

I agree, Op. I especially love the “Halo is dead” people. This forum needs a bit of humor.

I think we skipped to stage 4 after a week.

You think this game has the quality of other Halo titles? Sigh. You must be the chairman of the 343 Defense Team.

The population charts speak for themselves.

So, so true. Played 'em all. This is my favorite Halo to date.

Halo in general has fallen out of favor with the online gaming community. That’s all the population charts speak to.

I usually don’t post on the waypoint forums but I had to post in this thread because it is so hilariously accurate. Congratulations.

Ummm… or maybe it has to do with the fact that we have been complaining for a month and a half yet 343 keeps ignoring us?

> Ummm… or maybe it has to do with the fact that we have been complaining for a month and a half yet 343 keeps ignoring us?

Besides releasing a TU and confirming another possibly more gameplay-affecting one is on the way?

Yeah, they’re ignoring you.

A TU update fixing glitches. And they didn’t even manage to fix everything that the community had brought to light. BLOPS, from what I have heard, has already had 3 major TUs.

So how about custom games? Where has 343 been on that? Balance issues? Where has 343 explicitly said that they are listening? Where have they listed the fixes they want to implement?

It’s been a month and a half, and it’s going to be longer before they give us their next TU. Please don’t tell me you find this acceptable.

I don’t think we EVER had a ratio of positive to negative threads of 90%/10%.

Yes, I do. I’m not stupid enough to think I know how hard or easy it is to bring about this change, what with all the actual changing of stuff, testing the changed stuff, changing it again when it doesn’t work, and repeating, all while trying to keep the change from conflicting with other features, then actually implementing the change into the game.

The fact that they’re changing stuff at all is proof enough for anyone with average intelligence to figure out that they are, in fact, listening. The fact that they don’t talk specifics is reasonable as well, considering the backlash of saying “Hey, we’re fixing this!” only to say “Nevermind, that didn’t work out.” later on would be much more than if they said little until everything was assured.

So yes, I do find it acceptable. Because I’m smart enough to think about how this works, instead of only having the understanding to go “OMG, they haven’t said anything, that must mean they hate us and want to kill the Halo franchise”, and whatever else people are saying.

^ Boom.

Delusional people, with keyboards.

Take a look at League Of Legends activity on forums… their overwhelming support of competitive play and the fact it can be played in its complete form, for free.

If you can’t understand why 343 has some of the worst support in the gaming industry, you are simply out of touch with reality. There is no convincing you people.

This game has been brutally broken since it’s release: you still get matched in unfair conditions, dropped out of games for no reason and H4 was advertised as having competitive multiplayer but there isn’t a damn thing competitive about it. It’s completely redesigned Halo Of Duty for people that are too sensitive to be told they suck at video games. Random drops, Random Weapon Spawn timings, Random Teams, No punishment for leaving games and no skill ranking to work for.

Casual gameplay is killing what made gaming fun. There isn’t an option to play to win anymore even. There is no depth in these games and no incentive to be good at them. What a joke.

Trust me, your intelligence is definitely AVERAGE. Communication is part of being a company, much less a gaming company. If you can’t even talk to the community about what changed you want to make, THAT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. But you don’t understand this stuff, so I’m not going to argue with you further, it would be pointless.

Again, take a look at population charts. There is a reason why people have stopped playing this game.

Thank God, someone with some sense.

How cute, look at the complainers trying to respond.

And still, you don’t understand. Was I wrong? Would they get more criticism from saying “We’re going to fix this” then “Nevermind”, or waiting until they’re good and ready to make sure what they say is true? But no, you want them to simply appease the fools who can’t take two seconds to reason something out.

And apparently you’re one of those whiners who constantly use an unreliable population chart to attempt to tell everyone that the game sucks.

Tell me, in light of this display of your overall attitude and intelligence, what makes you think what you say matters?

Edit: Oh, and look at this wonderful thread Mr. Genius made! Yeah, ignore the troll, people.

Wow. There is no convincing these 343 Defense Team kids. -.-

Like I said, I’m done arguing.

And yes, that is a troll thread. I thought it was funny. You clicked on it. LOL

Do you like the game or hate the game? Simple question with a simple answer. Why do you need validation from the general population?
