If you read Greg Bear’s amazing Forerunner trilogy, you’d know that, Firstly, thee Prometheans were the “Ugliest” of the Forerunner. Also, you would also know that they went through “Mutations”, to “grow” or “mature”. Also, there are TWO didacts we know about. We are unsure as to which one is in Halo 4. The “Original” Didact was the Military commander during the Human-Foreunner war. The “Orginal” didact was executed on Charum Hakkor by Faber, Aka The Master Builder. Builders are in a way the “aristocracy” of Forerunner Society. They are responsible for Forerunner archetecture, and they are the ones who “rule” the Forerunner Government. The Master Builder is essentially the “President” of the Forunners. He is not a “King”, and a Master Builder can be chosen or deposed of by the choice of the Council. I can explain Forerunner politics later, fo now, let’s get back on the Didact. Now, before the “Original” was executed, He gave a Brevet Mutation to Bornstellar, a young Forerunner. This process transferred all of the Didact’s memories, thoughts, and in a sense, his “Consciousness” to Bornstellar. After the “Original” Didact was executed, for all intents and purposes, Bornstellar was the Didact. Now, the Brevet mutation made Bornstellar a weird cross between a Builder, and a Promethian. Bornstellars sister, back on their family owned world, commented to him " Some of my friends think you’re handsome, in a weird brutish kind of way ". Hopefully, this will clear things up. Remember, this is a theory based on previously known facts. We don’t know WHICH Didact it is, because Silentium(Bear’s 3rd and final book in the series) States that both Didacts are alive. We CAN, however, deduce that the Didact in Halo 4 is probably the Original, since the Original Didact had a hatred of Humans, while Bornstellar’s, the “New” Didact, best friends were humans.
Sorry didnt read post too much as im still working on campaign.
But you know the books about the foreunners can i read them without reading any other halo books first? Im looking to get into halo books but dont know why to start lol.
I agree, but I’m pretty sure the Didact’s forerunner class is called warrior-servant, not promethean. I don’t remember the word promethean ever being used, but I could be wrong.
