Infinity's Shields?

Exactly how powerful are they? They easily survived a direct impact with a massive covenant CCS-class battlecruiser. Are they far more powerful than Covenant shielding? Are they comparable to Forerunner shielding(highly doubtful)? I’d say they’re pretty damn powerful, though. They were probably developed from all the forerunner tech the UNSC found and had the Engineers to help install said technology.

Probably stronger than covenant shields.
Not sure if someone could help calculate the shields of a CSS and then the hull of it to give us a minimum as it rammed it.

I’d like to try to discuss how powerful Promethean weapons are but I doubt people will.

The shields are potentially on par with Forerunners. If the UNSC were able to view forerunner shielding. And considering the UNSC was upgraded with the Trevelyan shield worlds Huragok, I would not say it’s impossible to assume that.

In addition to that, in the Spartan ops vid when we see it ram another ship, the shields seem to barely shimmer. And I forget how many ships we see Infinity engage in another Spartan Ops vid, but it was a fair number, and it looked more like Infinity was staying put, driving them off rather than taking evasive maneuvers. Which tells me the ship not only packs a punch but can take a lot of punches without flinching.

-Edit

I believe everything on the Infinity minus the engines are 100% UNSC. Don’t quote me on that as I had about 2 hours sleep last night and can barely think, but I do know most of everything is UNSC tech that’s been derived from alien tech. Not a cheap copy but we made it based off either designs or our understanding of their tech.

It would be kind of hard to discuss that I think. I don’t know if there is any real science behind “Hard Light”. I do know of experiments on light that slow it down considerably but I have never heard of light being made into physical properties, so with that said, I doubt one could debate on it’s strengths.

Though based on what they do in game, they must emit either extreme radiation once the projectile hits or extreme heat in order to disintegrate the biological matter.

Infinity was made with human materiel and tech from covenant (shield) but engineer modified only the communication and accuracy of slipspace (that we know after thursday war)

so if shield are on par… i think its the mass if infinity it just “pushed” the shield on the ship wich crush it. and for the fighting and alli think they are just more scared than anything… need to remember that a capital ship of the covenant is 4-5x bigger than infinity… if they have any left.

Being “scared” is not in the Sangheili vocabulary. The infinity would not be sent into battle that it could be lost it unless it was absolutely necessary.

And in addition to what we officially know about the ship, I say it’s out the window. Thursday war’s infinity wasn’t fully finished and I believe they had just got the drives in her and the Huragok.

In campaign in the final mission we see her use weapons that did not look at all as a MAC. They fired what appeared to be either lasers but more likely a plasma based beam.

And I call foul on the armament list in the LE book thing considering it seems to be lacking the main MAC, and the plasma weapon we saw.

According to Cortana in Campaign mission 3, the Prometheans are apparently magnetic in their nature. This is theoretically possible, since photons are manipulated by magnetism. However, this would require so much energy, that the Forerunners would need some sort of unknown energy source far beyond what we have today.

Edit-

So yeah the Infinity’s shields may have some sort of hardlight shield by the use of unknown quantum and stringy fielding being generated by some unknown type of Forerunner process. They don’t look like hardlight though.

If it was hard light we would probably see it. I’m guessing forerunner shields for ships are similar to the Covenant, only infinitely better.

All of the covenant tech has been derived from forerunner, only it was produced where ever they make the acme supplies Wile. E Coyote keeps buying.

I’m pretty sure she says “Mimetic”.

… Energy shields… Not hard light shields. Covenant couldn’t even replicate hard light.
Not all covenant technology.
I believe it might be a particle accelerator (glassing beam) that the infinity fired at the Mantle’s resolve.

The hard light talk is about the weapons, not shields.
