Infinity's competitive aspect

For those of you who don’t know, there was a new bulletin containing information on Halo 4’s Limited Edition. Probably most of you have either read the bulletin or saw information flooding the forums, but one thing that caught my attention while reading through the details was this:

> • War Games Map Pack Access
>
> The competitive multiplayer modes of Halo 4 are known as War Games. The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps - three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE. Yes, you read that correctly; you get nine maps in the form of future DLC with the purchase of the Halo 4 Limited Edition. Score!

Other than the fact that we know there will be at least 3 DLC’s containing 9 new maps, it briefly talks about competitive modes. We are told they are called war games, we may have heard this name before but I can’t remember but it deals with a competitive multiplayer mode. We know the 1-50 system is not returning nor is reach’s Arena system returning so could this news be sign of a newer system that will be competitive? Or is it just a fancy name for more casual playlist with the label competitive.

Personally, im optimistic and im hoping for something similar to the 1-50 system or something else that promotes skill and gives me something to really work for. But thats just me, what do you guys think?

It’s probably their name for the training in the infinitys holodeck

“War Games” is the Competetive multiplayer part of “Infinity” which is the name for the overall multiplayer experience. So think of it like this.

You start up Halo 4 and on the main menu it shows a few different options, one of them being Campaign and another being Infinity. When you click on Infinity you’ll see War Games, Spartan Ops, Custom Games etc. War Games is just the matchmaking.
