Infinity slayer always played more like an action sack gametype with all the randomness. With ordinance it’s like everybody always has a power weapon, powerup, or a semi-power weapon. On top of that it’s totally random what comes up in your ordinance drops. This just makes the gameplay crazy and random and is why infinity slayer should of never have been the premier slayer gametype for Halo 4. When action sack comes out they should just put infinity slayer in that playlist and add regular team slayer without ordinance drops.
I agree, well said.
I doubt it’ll happen, but who knows…
You could always play Team Throwdown, where ordnance is only used to deliver AAs, and then not call it in.
Unfortunately, people like Infinity Slayer. You’ll probably lose 10,000 players if you cram Infinity Slayer into Action Sack.
You’d also harm the action sack community since Infinity Slayer isn’t as fun or wacky as anything else in the playlist.
> Unfortunately, people like Infinity Slayer. You’ll probably lose 10,000 players if you cram Infinity Slayer into Action Sack.
I think mainly they like it is because it is 4v4 slayer, which always tends to be one of the most popular playlists. I think if they removed it and replaced it with a more traditional slayer playlist it would still be just as, if not more popular.

If you changed slayer now to a traditional slayer gametype only and moved infinity into the action sack then population will just overload into big team infinity. A traditional game will not be popular. They have tried with Team Throwdown and it’s always in the bottom 4/5 playlists. Just because it’s something most forum users want does not necessarily mean it’s what most halo players want.
I would shift over to big team infinity slayer and not play action sack or the “new” slayer play list that you want to put in to replace it.
OR
you could leave it as is, since it is the second most popular playlist.

Throwdown isn’t traditional or Classic, it’s Competitive. Seeing how MLG and many competitive players already left the game early on, it’s not a surprise Throwdown isn’t popular. It’s too little, too late.
As for Classic Halo fans, we’ll just have to wait and see how many already left whenever they announce at least one Classic playlist.
EDIT: The OP’s idea would be terrible, as it would ruin Action Sack.
Infinity Slayer is essentially Fiesta Slayer from H2 / H3 / Reach, and that gametype was predominantly found in Action Sack. Fiesta Slayer could be fun, but it was just way too wacky and zany and random to be taken seriously.
In Halo 4, the “main” gametype is Infinity Slayer, which is just barely less wacky and zany and random than Fiesta Slayer. How could this possibly happen? It’s a shame.

What this guy said.
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
If infinity slayer wasn’t the main and most pronounced playlist it wouldn’t have the population it does.
I play infinity slayer. Do I like it? Nooooo…
No matter how bad u hate infinity slayer…it’s about time u got over it…it’s 343s game type…it’s their take on slayer…it will never be an action sack game type nor should it be. They have team throw down if ordinance isn’t ur cup of tea.

Or yah know just play objective game modes…
So take the most popular playlists and squeeze them into one playlist with other gametypes?
You must be a “competitive” player, they always have the best ideas.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never quite understood the Fiesta comparison. Getting one or two power weapon/powerup drops equates to the same thing as spawning with a totally random weapon every time?
Yes, ordnance is “random”, but not to the crazy degree everyone suggests. Every time you’re going to get a shotgun, needler/concussion, or a powerup, with the very occasional beam rifle. It is a bit more random in BTB because of the inclusion of a lot of extra weapons, I will concede that. However, the map drops aren’t really random excluding the timers (anyone playing a radar-on, loadout enabled playlist isn’t going to care about power weapon timers), and loadouts obviously aren’t “random” - you spawn with your choice of precision weapon or assault weapon.
That’s a bit different than one time spawning with a rocket launcher, and the next time spawning with a plasma pistol.
I understand that hyperbole is a huge thing for you guys, but that argument is a bit of a stretch.
If they replaced IS with a regular, balanced TS, it would have the same population. It might even have more if word gets around to the people who quit playing Halo thanks to 343. My friends are the ultimate casuals, and not one of them likes IS and Halo 4 more than TS and Halo’s 1-3. Most of the people online are clueless as to what goes on anyways and they probably wouldn’t notice the change. When community forge test came out, Simplex was voted for 9/10 times and no one minded that it had static, timed weapon spawns. If Halo 5 has regular TS at launch rather than this “Infinity” garbage, it will keep a higher number of players coming back consistently, because people liked it more.
Hah. Not just Infinity Slayer… Regicide, Dominion, Grifball, Flood, and SWAT. These are all absolute jokes of playlists.
The current Infinity Slayer should be renamed to Fiesta Slayer, and a new, more balanced Infinity Slayer should take it’s place.
This is more like what I have in mind:
Hybrid Slayer
Play with this Haven variant:
Haven (Arena)
> Hah. Not just Infinity Slayer… Regicide, Dominion, Grifball, Flood, and SWAT. These are all absolute jokes of playlists.
Regicide is nice, I just think it should have been added as a alternative gametype that can come up in classic FFA.
Dominion is 343’s take on Objective, and it is actually quite good… Assuming your in a game with friends / a team, it is nightmarish to pug.
Grifball is Grifball, it is supposed to be crazy / random / whatever. It’s a nice side game to run every once and a wile. It is a fan made gametype, and it was a surprise for them to add it in halo 3. It had become standard.
Flood has been a community favorite since halo 3 and it is a fun gametype to roll with every so often (again, like Grifball) however, whoever added commendations or whatever they are to Flood needs to be hit.
Swat I never got. A few people I know like to play it, but it won’t be missed if removed. I guess it could be fun to kill a whole team in 4 shots in less then 3 seconds, but to me it’s just frustrating.
On topic. Infinity slayer cannot be in Action Sack. 2-3 random drops does not validate it to be put in a playlist that is supposed to be pure randomness / insanity, where conventional rules just do not apply. If you hot a ordnance every kill, and it automatically gave you the dropped weapon, now that would be good enough.
Randomness is bad
Balance is Good
