It just occurred too me that exterms will be more or less impossible in infinity slayer.
For those unfamiliar the requirements for an extermination are : kill the entire enemy team with at least an overkill and have them all dead at the same time.
So in infinity slayer we can respawn instantly by pressing X so how is it possible to get an esteem when people are instantly respawning?
The only solution I can think of will require some changes to the requirements for the medal which just doesn’t seem right to me.
You don’t always have to respawn instantly, it is an option, you can either press X once dead or you can wait, change your loadouts and then proceed to press X or let the normal respawn time spawn you in.
Extermination medals are just one of many aspects of Halo that will be fundamentally altered by instant respawns.
Love it or hate it, the fact is that it’s a pretty substantial change. We will see the pace and style of the game very visibly changed by instant respawns.

But they’ll be improbable now. At least one person on the dead team will spam the respawn button and already be on the map by the time the opposing player kills the rest of his team. About the only way they’ll be possible with instant respawns is if the player kills every member of the opposing team simultaneously, and that’s a mean feet in itself.

My point exactly and they can’t have a medal based off the random time a person may respawn. They will provably change the requirements though im not overly fond of that idea
Exterminations will be more difficult, but not impossible. I, for one, can completely see myself taking a second or two to modify my loadout after I get killed…time which you could use to kill the rest of my team
> If it’s really a issue for trying to get this medal, might I suggest objective gametypes where people cant insta-spawn?
Don’t really think that will help…larger teams plus larger maps = much much harder to meet the requirements for an Extermination medal. The OP is correct, unless the parameters have changed, it will be very difficult to get this medal. Unless you play Grifball, of course

Well it’s either that, or remove the medal from Infinity Slayer entirely, this was widely discussed back when instant respawns were first announced

This. The requirement of the Overkill can be met, but further multi-kills from Overkill-on need to be killing every person on that enemy team at least 1 time. (So in a 4v4 you don’t get a Triple on 3 guys, and the 4th guy lives, but you spawn-kill the first guy for an Overkill; no Exterm, because you didnt kill the 4th opposing enemy.)
However, you can do what I stated and pick up an Exterm IF you kill the 4th guy and it gives you a higher multi-kill, in this case, a Killtacular.
Either this idea, or have in internal timer for Exterms that says base Slayer respawns are 5 seconds, so if you get the Overkill in 5 Seconds (or kill all 4 in 5 seconds) then you get an Exterm even if they insta-spawned already.
