This is just speculation. I believe the individual responsible for infinitys crash is Jul Mdama. He is a elite who planned to overthrow the Arbiter for his treaty with humans. Jul ended up being captured by the humans. He remained captured for a long period of time and was sent to the micro dyson shpere known as Onyx. He remained there as a POV. He learned to think like humans and plotted his escape. Eventually, he escaped by using forerunner portal located in the shpere. He also gained knowledge of the Didact while captured. Jul later found out that his wife, Raia, was killed during a battle by the humans or the arbiter. He blamed the humans for her death and vowed revenge. In the Halo 4 terminal trailer, 3 years later his shows up at the Infinity with a fleet of warships.
This is why I believe he downs the Infinity. Please Discuss.

Requiem has extremely high gravity on the outside…? i dunno kinda like you would stop at the bottom of a well since you reached the bottom. Maybe like a metaphorical gravity well or something
The game is based on jul trying to unleash the didact, and no, the infinity is sucked into requiem before jul even gets near them. Im presuuming the didact is the ancient evil because of this fact, and jul them makes an alliance with the didact and his prometheans, causing them to be both fighting chief.
(PS: ive seen the ending and who the enemy is, but no spoilers on who the enemy is as it is pretty awesome and shoulden’t be ruined)
Do you not remember the E3 live action segment? The Didact was taking control of the ship(Evident from the monitors displaying his emblem and his signature scan throughout the Infinity). I believe the Storm Covenant in its entirety is already inside Requiem.

I would imagine that the Infinity was downed by some sort of gravity field on Requiem designed to keep ships on the surface. Notice how both the FuD and Covenant fleet seems to be sucked into the planet.

It’s possible that he made the Infinity lose power.
E3: Live action trailer- The Infinity is scanned by an orange pulse, where all monitors on the ship briefly change to the Didact’s Unbound Symbol. The planet is then seen opening, and the Infinity is sucked inside.
E3 Gameplay demo: The Infinity is crash landing on the planet, with the captain saying that an unknown entity is seizing control of the ship, and is then boarded by these unknown enemies.

Does that sound “Covenant” to you? The Didact is what caused the crash. He opened the planet’s entry portal, which consists of a massive gravity well that sucked the Infinity inside, where the Prometheans boarded it. Covenant do not romotely seize ships, nothing from our 30 year long war showed that happening. At this time the Covenant and Prometheans are barely allies… they would have had no time to organize the assault on Infinity, considering that their forces were still getting wiped out by Prometheans in Mission 3, where the Infinity begins to make contact with Requiem.

Jul is confirmed as the leader of the Storm Covenant. So its possible we’ll see him during the Camapaign
