That would make no sense. They could let everyone download it, but if its not ready to play, they would just be locking everyones copy of Halo 5 and stopping them from playing.

Impossible, this community is to split to ever be in a unanimous decision.
You give us Achilles as a SC Reward, the soloers -Yoink-. If you were to change that, the SCers will -Yoink- for example.
It’s not entirely up to 343 folks. Not defending them or blaming them either, but once they submit the update to -Yoink!-, it takes time to get approved and ready for mass downloading.
Literally every other developer that I know of is able to tell their customers the release date. It does of course depend on approval, but things like hotfixes and minor tweaks that are often unplanned aside, it’s not unreasonable for them to give a date. Hell. Err on the side of caution, tell us it’s Friday, even if it may be ready by Monday, guarantee this would go a long way towards fan goodwill.
I asked Jesus and he said the update is on Wednesday.
