Infinite's textures could use some improvement

My last post of this topic was expressed poorly, leading some to see it as not good faith, which was really saddening as that’s the last thing I could want. I want to make it clear that sincerely, I want Halo Infinite to be the best it can be and for this feedback to come across as constructive.

To start, I’ll list off what 343 Industries has done great visually. I played the Technical Preview on PC maxed out in 4k and I found some parts to be impressive. The floor of Live Fire looked detailed, and the mud graphics were actually amazing. I didn’t take any screenshots myself for reference, so I have to refer to PC footage other Halo Insiders have posted to reddit, but they do reflect the fidelity I saw in my experience.

I understand that this is a 2 month old pre-release build, however feedback from last year’s July 2020 demo resulted in some improvements that 343 Industries has stated appreciation for. Feedback now may result in more improvements as well.

Halo Infinite completely wowed me with its E3 2018 announcement trailer, I’d love for the final build to live up to that. When I looked at the detailed mud in the Technical Preview, I saw hints of the detail from the 2018 trailer. If the crates, walls and other lacking areas could be touched up it would be well on its way. I sincerely want Halo Infinite to be the best looking game that it can be and I can’t stress enough that I care about this game.

I agree. I don’t know how much of this is due to performance for cross platform. Thats an argument I have heard a lot but I don’t really buy it. The 2018 blew me away with its graphical fidelity and I was sorely disappointed by the campaign reveal. The multiplayer test did a lot to demonstrate better lighting and atmospherics but the basic materials were still lacking in some areas, as you pointed out. I do hope they address at least the worst offenders as some of the items you posted are far below the rest of the game in terms or quality. The rock tunnel being one of personal least favorites.

Yeah, I hope that the Series X and PC versions aren’t required to be tied down to the Xbox One’s texture limitations. That would really hold back Halo Infinite’s graphical potential. I think the rock tunnel should be a priority for texture improvement as Digital Foundry also pointed it out too.

I’m going to be a little upset if I see another crusty jpeg in my warthog’s hud.

you have already made a post about this man. You dont need to be making multiple threads covering the same topic

As stated in the opening post, the original was too aggressive and didn’t lead to constructive discussion.

I’m hoping a more constructive approach will lead to better discussion. If anyone experienced any good visuals while playing the Technical Preview that they wanted to point out, or ones that need improvement, they can chime in.
