When someone on my team leaves mid-way through a match. Why do I get penalized for it?
Also I’ve had multiple games recently where I’ve done better than every person on the other team, but still go down in rank for it? The game states that our rank “Improves when YOU perform better than expected”, but when I go 20-10-2 in a match of Slayer, and the top brass on the other team only had 15 kills, why do I go down in rank? Or does that mean you expected me to carry the game with over a third of the kills needed to win?
Even if we did lose, why should I get punished because two other people on my team, that I was queued up with RANDOMLY, only got a cumulative of 9 kills? Oh and not only did I get punished, but NEITHER of the two people who threw the game away lost ANY mmr. I was the only one on the team that lost mmr, and I was at the top.
I can’t be the only one confused by this right?

You’re expected to win sometimes, and for those matches you gain less for the win but lose more for the loss. For a match You’re at a lower win% chance, you gain more for a win and lose less for a loss. You personal score becomes a variable to increase or decrease the values, but your opposition is what drives the rank to go up or down alongside performance.
There should exist a rejoin function, that we do need. When you play with randoms though you subject yourself to the lottery system. That’s just what it is. Only you can avoid that through making an actual fire team before going in.
There is still a penalty when people leave because if that penalty is taken away, the devs believe players will then just leave matches to create soft losses and a reduction in penalty for those that stay. Idk if they’ll ever really fine tune that. A rejoin function would work wonders though.
You do good and win, go up a lot.
You do bad and win, go up a little.
You do good and lose, stay the same.
You do bad and lose, go down.
Here’s a tip: if your teammates quit get a positive k/d and quit. You won’t go up or down.
