Infinite xbone to series x crossplay

Considering getting an Xbox one x since they will probably be about half the price of the series x when it launches (Currently have no xbox). Will Xbox one players be split from the new console players for Infinite? Assuming they will since that’s the way most games across different console generations work, but can’t find the answer anywhere.

I assume there is cross play.

New games will not be Series X exclusive (X-clusive?) for 2 years. There will be crossplay for Infinite.

EDIT: Below is a quote from the linked article for clarity.

> According to Microsoft Studios head Matt Booty, who spoke with UK gaming site MCV, “over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices,” Booty said. “We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we’re committed to them with content.” This does seem to imply that there will be a point at which new first-party Xbox games designed for the Series X won’t run on the standard Xbox One, but that would appear to be a ways out after launch.

These aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive.

All first-party Microsoft games could be cross-gen but also prevent crossplay between the various versions of the game. It would be highly counterproductive though as it would simply split up your community into many silos.

OP, as far as we all know, all versions of Infinite will have crossplay with each other. What I’m sure will occur though is people whining about game balance between controller and keyboard/mouse.

I personally think you should save up for a series x. It will be future proof and you can play all the Xbox one games on it. Best buy won’t charge interest on it for at least the first 6 months if not more. Have a good down payment would I think be best if you can’t save up the full amount.

Cross play was never confirmed. I think that will depend on the developers. There is a really high chance that Halo infinite multiplayer will be tuned to 120fps on the series x. I don’t think they will allow cross play if that’s case.

Read the article and the quotes contained therein. It has been confirmed there will be crossplay from Mr. Booty.

I guess the key phrase from the article is “backwards compatibility”. The term exclusive could be interpreted different ways. Halo 5 is exclusive to Xbox one. Battlefield 4 is not exclusive to the console, but Xbox 360, Xbox one, and pc players are in separate multiplayer pools. To me if the game is backwards compatible then Xbox one and series x players are in the same pool, and if Xbox one players are at a disadvantage then that’s the motivation to upgrade consoles. Hopefully it’s all one big multiplayer pool.

Correct, also there will be no “versions” of Halo Infinite. According to reports yesterday, Halo Infinite will run on all consoles, you buy for day one Xbox it’ll run on Series X Smart Delivery.Edit, whilst this will happen with all in house titles for a year or two, Cyberpunk 2077 developers have also confirmed we’ll only need one copy of their new game. Apart from Halo Infinite’s multiplayer this a massive consumer friendly move from Microsoft. For the first time we can buy a new console without losing our back catalogue. Also no need for an immediate upgrade if you don’t want to, although that upgrade will be inevitable at some point imo.

Series X looks more like another Xbox One, but in a different shape. I got my Xbox One S two days ago. I hope Microsoft doesn’t decide to abandon the X1 to focus on the Series X. They did say they won’t leave us behind.

XB1 players will be able to play with XBSX players

Has there been a confirmation of all Xbox versions having crossplay with PC for Infinite? (unlike the current state of MCC and 343’s hesitation to implement)

Nope. Cross play has yet to be touched upon at all for Infinite.

Xbox has said they won’t start focusing on Series X exclusives for at least 1 year. So that means Xbox One will still be supported with new games for some time.
