Right but at that point campaign players are getting a worse deal than we got a decade ago. First off, this campaign wasnāt remotely worth $60 with the missing features and such a two dimensional, incomplete open world.
From 2001-2010, we got a complete new campaign every 3 years. If we seriously donāt even get campaign DLC until 4 years after the campaign came out, thatās pretty weak.
Iām tired of hearing this 10 year plan bullsnot. Too many players are falling for this charade.
Can we just get a video game that was designed to be completed at itās launch during YEAR ONE and not designed to be completed sometime between Year 2 and Year 10? Is this really that irrational to ask for?
Square Enix burned 1.0 to the ground and remade the game from the ground up and it was something completely unheard of. No way in a million years do they do something like that for Halo. A game thatās not even an MMO where the risk isnāt even worth it.
No, they didnāt. There are numerous assets (models, animations, textures, environment art, sounds) that were used in Realm Reborn, and multiple systems were very similar or identical (leves, crafting, armory/class).
Also, the idea that they built an entire MMO from the ground up to a playable Alpha in two years is absurd. Impossible. Thatās the reason itās ācompletely unheard of.ā
ā¦What? First of all, Halo infinite is nowhere near as bad as FF XIV 1.0. Like, itās not even close. Iām a masochist and managed to reach level 50 in XIV 1.0 (got the original character on a legacy server to prove it). Everything in 1.0 was completely and utterly broken.
Infiniteās biggest problems have nothing to do with the most important parts of the game: Content and Gameplay. The key issues plaguing Halo Infinite are the systems (Progression, Challenges, Store). Why on EARTH would you think the āriskyā option is fixing those systems? The actual risky option is abandoning the game next year so they can work on the next Halo game. Why? Because the Halo community would crucify 343 and it would have the potential to ruin the next release.
2.0 is on a completely different engine. They re-used nothing from 1.0. Its why 2.0 is a muddy mess and texture wise looks like crap. 1.0 was a bad game, but it had significantly higher quality textures (a plant pot had more textures in 1.0 than the character models in 2.0 have) and animations were smoother and had a lot of weight to them. 2.0 animations are floaty and flashy.
2.0 was built from the ground up. You donāt have to believe it, but it was. Its why ARR is all over the place and feels so out of place compared to Heavensward and onwards wit the later expansions.
Youāre lying. Youāre absolutely lying at this point. You can look at videos and compare entire swaths of assets and systems that are IDENTICAL between the two games. Yes, the Realm Reborn engine is different from 1.0, thatās correct. But Iām about to blow your mind since you obviously have no idea what youāre talking aboutā¦
Are you ready?
You can re-use assets, animations, and even code between engines
Edit:

So nothing in this intro cinematic appears in Realm Reborn? Not a single asset, character, outfit, piece of audio, texture⦠none of this is in Realm Reborn?
Without having to read through all the responses there is no way Infinite lasts 10yrs in itās current state. No way. Why? Because its still unfinished, weāve only gotten two new maps since last year, and the roadmap is nothing to get excited about unless youāre into Forge. So two new maps by March of next year and one new weapon. Why would anyone be excited by that.
To put things into perspective Overwatch 2 will launch with 22 maps. Yes most are the same ones but there will be 6 new ones (from what I read). Halo Infinite could have re-hashed some Halo 5 maps in order to give us something more to tie us over but 343 didnāt (Iām sure there is a reason why). If all goes to plan and we get the two new official maps we will have 14 by March 2023. Iām not counting Forge because it isnāt even up and running and we have no idea what to expect.
There is no way people are going to stick around for that. Why would they when there are plenty of other FPS that are more polished and have more content at launch. It hurts to say all of that too because I LOVE Halo but those are facts.
It was rebuilt from the ground up. ARR was an entirely new game.
And no, nothing in that intro appeared in ARR. The city intros are completely different in ARR. There is no code from 1.0 in ARR. The ONLY thing they kept around from 1.0 was their login system. ARR code and graphics engine are entirely different. There are no assets pulled over. Everything in the game was re-created which is why it was such a huge deal and why Yoshi-P and his team were praised so highly.
the funny thing the only other game i can think of that did a 10 year plan is rainbow six siege and look how that turned outā¦game got worse in new each season instead of improving.
imagine infiniteās multiplayer after 7 seasons? will it be some generic hero shooter by then or will we still be complaining co-op isnāt out and forge is still beta?
i want to believe the outstanding issues will be resolved long before season 7 of infinite.
Jesus Christ⦠I canāt tell if youāre trolling or if you donāt understand that in-game cutscenes use in-game assets. Like⦠ya know⦠Thancred. All those creatures. The sfx. Holy crap.
You can literally see in the intro re-used assets. Theyāre right there. It feels like Iām arguing with a flat-earther, or someone that believes the moon is made of cheese.
Iām going to want a source for this. I want someone explicitly stating that they re-used absolutely zero code, and even then Iād have my doubts. The crafting system between the two games is almost functionally identical. It would make zero sense to not just copy/paste huge portions of code for it. If they didnāt re-use any of their code and just rebuilt it, that would be the absolute dumbest thing Iāve ever heard.

You can watch back and forth and see entire buildings that look identical.
No they didnāt. You can look at the game and see identical assets that existed in 1.0. If someone re-did these things by hand, there is a zero percent chance theyād have the exact same models and proportions. Itās not possible. There would be significantly noticeable differences.
JESUS CHRIST. I want you to actually read what I type this time, please⦠for the love of God.
Doesnāt. Have. To. Remake. Halo. Infinite. I literally already said that. You have to be trolling.
The halo community has already crucified 343 and have potentially ruined future releases. It time to stop fearing it and do something to save this franchise.
Look, this defence already didnāt work when you defenders said 343 needed to release Infinite in 2021. Its sure not working now.
So⦠You want them to abandon Halo Infinite completely and you think the community who spent money on the game is just gonna be cool with that? You think the smart move is to abandon years and millions of dollars of development when youāve got a solid game that just has some bad systems in place? Jesus Christ, just use your brain even the slightest bit.
Hold up, who the hell do you think youāre talking to? Iāve criticized 343 more times than I can count since November.
ā¦What? Again, who is this person youāre talking to/about?
And what ādefenseā are you talking about? Iām not defending 343. Iām saying that abandoning Halo Infinite instead of just fixing the problems that it has would be the dumbest thing 343 could do.
^ this is the correct take. The absolute best case scenario is that 343 overhauls the systems that are causing the most friction so as to rebuild faith with members of the community that were burned by Halo Infinite.
Trying to rebuild that faith with a new game would be pants-on-head stupid when thereās a fully capable game right there.
You seem to be confusing things here thinking that using character designs and world designs is somehow using the same assetsā¦
There are no assets from 1.0. Yoshi-P went into extreme depth of all the issues of 1.0 and how the higher quality textures caused a lot of performance problems in one of his live letters years ago. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/sāeeuUVSGrā/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_636/akuwtkex09et9dvbrsxw.jpg / https://i0.wp.com/gamerescape.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/final_fantasy_14_gdc.jpg?resize=504%2C504&ssl=1
Making things look the same for obvious reasons is not the same as re-using assets. Nothing from 1.0 was moved over to 2.0. They had to re-create everything in the new engine.
And I posted a source from a youtube interview with him talking about 1.0 and how there is not 1.0 code in ARR.
No, Iām not. I am not talking about them re-using work done by concept artists. Iām saying entire assets created by character artists and environment artists are visually identical between version of the game. This does not happen if you have someone completely rebuild the asset.
Furthermore, it would actually be incredibly stupid to do it this way, and therefor no one would. Why on earth would Yoshi P be like "Okay, environment/character artist. Recreate this asset. No, you canāt just import the old asset that we have and slap on higher res textures; I want you to remake it from scratch for no reason at all even though the work is already done. Oh and I want you to make it identical so that no one can tell the difference. "
Thatās stupid. No one would do that.
Hold up. You think these two images is proof that they didnāt re-use assets? You know that you can just⦠reduce the polygon count and re-import the asset⦠right?
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG THAT ISNT HOW THIS WORKS. Okay listen to me very, VERY carefully⦠You donāt create the models in the engine. You create them in other pieces of software and then import them into the engine. What this means, is that all those models and art assets existed as files outside of the Crystal Tools engine (or whatever its called). There would be no reason to recreate an identical duplicate and then import it into Realm Reborn when you already have the old identical file from 1.0. Youād just re-import it.
Edit: Let me explain this a bit better. Letās say I want to make a game in Unity and I create this really amazing rock texture in photoshop and I apply it to a bunch of rocks. Then later on I decided I want to scrap my Unity project and switch to Unreal. When I load up Unreal, I donāt need to remake that rock texture. I can just drag it into Unreal and it immediately works.
Thatās why what youāre saying makes zero sense.
