Infinite without Warzone is a waste

Think about it. 343i spent a LOT of time working on Warzone in H5 whether it’s maps, weapons or vehicles.

I’m a huge fan of the game type because it’s a little bit of everything: PvE, PvP, map control and objective. Plus you get to spawn and earn great weapons and vehicles.

I mean honestly, a game with out the Answer? Nornfang? The Bane? Hannibal scorpion? Helios? Those are all great and fun REQs to call in and I can’t believe with how expansive Warzone is that 343i will just scrap all of that.

Plus it’s a great way to earn XP.

I know it’s not perfect and some thing need to be fixed like pawn points and matchmaking but Warzone still has a lot of potential.

What do y’all think?

Warzone wasn’t that good, it was an ok game mode. It was a poorly balanced mess. If someone had certain items and someone else didn’t get it via the gambling system then they would be at disadvantage. The idea of Warzone is ok but the pay to win elements was what killed the need to ‘improve’…though after a while most people had stockpiled items then felt more about teams that would rush objectives to get a quick win or spawn trapping in H5. If Warzone ever returns to Infinite it needs a serious overhaul.

I don’t really have interest in Warzone. I don’t see the appeal of it. With the exception of the REQ system, I don’t have much fundamental issues with the concept either. However, the fact that it is a replacement for proper BTB means that I’m 100% against it. I like traditional BTB. I never asked for it to be replaced with anything bigger or more comfortable to Microsoft’s wallet.

Warzone would need some serious overhauls for me to be disappointed with its absence.

Being able to spawn with weapons and vehicles uncontested is exactly why I loath warzone in its current form. The REQ weapon in particular are designed to be broken to sell req packs while keeping all the interesting weapon designs hidden behind an MTX store. At the moment its just a resource hungry extra large action sack playlist that cost us dev BTB.

As it stands I would be perfectly fine with removing Warzone.

I would love to have Warzone in infinite, but even if it’s without Warzone, Halo is keeping the best game ever.

Never been a huge fan of Warzone. I really only play it when Warzone Turbo comes out with double XP. I hate that it basically replaced BTB which is my favorite game mode. If it does come back (which I hope ot doesn’t) it needs to be added along with BTB and needs a full overhaul.

Stating that Infinite would be a waste without warzone seems quite an overstatement in my eyes.
Warzones basic idea seemed like ok:ish idea but it really doesn’t seem to offer that much when there already are various modes & possibility for new modes alltogether.
Basically it was nearly like Firefight but with added occasional bulletsponges, gear from RNG boxes & an option for PvP aspect.

Though if it would return then it needs some serious adjustments & changes to it, the gear supplies need to be more easily earnable so you can actually play the mode without grinding in other modes at first, or spending more real money to hear those cheering noises & see those bright colored confetti effects, obviously meant to hook more susceptible to addiction type of minds to spend more money for virtual gear of which only few likely turn out to be usable in PvP modes.
That is if the gear needs to be earnable at all instead of just using the energy system, in which you earn gear level through game & when used needs recharge for period of time depending on gear level, without the supply limits.
Just something as an example to the things that need to be changed if Warzone type gamemode is desired to be relevant in the future & in benefial way in a sense of equal opportunity entertainment value.
But thats more of a post for a fully fledged Warzone topic, so I keep above section relatively short.

Some of the points being, Warzone would need to be heavily changed but even in that case it likely wouldn’t be even one of the topselling points of Infinite.

I loved the concept of warzone but honestly the amount of variants of guns and the sheer amount of vehicles that were spawned quickly threw me away from the game. Was not a fan

A battlefield-esque gamemode is something I always wanted in a Halo game. In some ways, Warzone did give that experience, while other aspects of Warzone really flopped. The REQ system really killed Warzone for me(and others), and while variants of weapons were fun to use(Nornfang, The Answer, Hannibal vehicles, etc.), they certainly weren’t fun to be shot at by. En masse. As others have been saying, Warzone would need fundamental changes to be improved upon and avoid what made H5’s Warzone distasteful.

People do bring up a really good point when it came to H5 Warzone though: it was initially a replacement for BTB, and in that sense stole from time that could’ve been used for BTB. New gamemodes can be fun, but when they replace already well-established gamemodes that people already enjoy, it could ultimately steal from the experience. I’d take BTB over Warzone if I had to choose between the two, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like a Battlefield-esque gametype later on in Infinite’s development, or at launch given enough dev work goes into gamemodes we love and to gamemodes 343 wants to experiment with.

Warzone does have potential to become something better than what it is now. Maybe the size, vehicles and defense points of Warzone mixed with the aspects of Dominion(fortifications that helped to defend the base, resupplies of weapons that spawned inside the base, capturing and re-fortifying bases when they switch sides) from Halo 4 that would be fun to try out?

I personally wouldn’t mind if it didn’t return. I don’t think it was very well designed

I’m just gonna agree with pretty much what everyone said. Being it replaced BTB and a “microtrasaction” system in place it wasn’t well received by a lot of people. Granted, I did enjoy Warzone to a point. Only because I love large battlefields with a bunch of people, with that said if it was to return, don’t replace BTB with it. But make Warzone bigger. Essentially Halo Reach mod Extinction. Thats the only way I’d support Warzone to return, and if a single guy can make a mod for it on Reach, I see no reason why it can’t be in Infinite.

just my .2 cents.

Can’t say I was a huge fan of Warzone, only really liked Warzone Firefight but the limited number of maps and the repeating enemies gets boring.

I’ve seen the glitches. No thanks.

I wouldn’t say it would be a waste, but I would miss firefight if it wasn’t included in the game. PVE is fun!

I never really cared much for OG Warzone, but I am quite fond of Warzone Firefight.
Compared to the Reach Firefight, having the Warzone aspects built in offers a breath of fresh air form the typical holdout against continuous waves.
Being able to spawn in various weapons that get deadlier as the rounds go on, various objectives that get you moving around the map a bit more, and more vehicle based enemies and bosses, kept it interesting.

Not that a Reach style Firefight shouldn’t be in Infinite, they could easily create a classic Firefight experience using custom settings, and have both running in Matchamking.

I never liked Warzone, it replaced BTB at launch and intoduced a pay to win element into Halo. It had RNG and loot crates too. It was also was the reason BTB was a tacked on after thought. I won’t miss it if it’s not in Halo Infinite, but I won’t be unhappy if it’s included either, as long as BTB is there too. I respect some of you love it, but in it’s current guise it’s not for me.

Warzone was an alright gametype. Was a clever concept but it gets old really fast. I wouldn’t mind it returning in Halo Infinite but I definitely won’t miss it if it doesn’t.

I would like to see them give it another shot because I think it has a lot of potential but the req system needs tweaking

Warzone was fine if you played a good amount, but I was never able to enjoy it that much. All of my friends who play Halo don’t play as much as I do, which means if we chose Warzone they didn’t have near as many good REQs and were constantly outgunned and weren’t able to enjoy themselves. Also Big Team Battle definitely suffered as a result of it. Did we even have one non-forge Big Team Battle map in Halo 5? I don’t mind warzone, but if the inclusion of Warzone ruins BTB then it can go as far as I’m concerned.

I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings…but Warzone was TERRIBLE! F.Y.I, REQ’s are the worst thing invented since Dual-Wield for weapon balance. At least Dual-Wield made you feel really cool. I feel like I’m cheating every time I chose a REQ. It is the definition of a pay-to-win system. The guy who spends money on the REQ packs gets more REQ’s then the guy who is content with the original game by itself. It also ruined armor customization. In Halo 3, if you saw a guy wearing a Recon helmet, you saluted him. In Halo 5, you just thought, (wow that guy is lucky). Warzone was very fun to play for a few months. Yet very boring to play afterwards. While I thought that adding AI enemies into the battlefield had merit, bosses was a concept that I was not fond of. All-in-all, Warzone must be abandoned.
