When I first heard about Halo Infinite I was not really interested in it as a game, I thought “great, another 343i game” but once I actually played it I was blown away by how fun the core gameplay was, it felt like a better version of Halo 3.
I also made an infamous thread where I stated that Infinite will never be considered a great Halo game because of how mediocre it was on release, that no matter what they add or do as developers post launch it will never make up for the huge blunders/mistakes made in those 6 freaking years of time in development hell.
I am now of the belief that Infinite will never be remotely as good as it could/should be. The most obvious flaws-Cheaters, Desync, UI, etc. will likely never be fixed and the vast majority of content that Halo’s had 10 years ago (Co-op, Forge, Firefight, modes, gametypes, heck throw in Warzone while we’re at it) will probably take them 2 years at least to put into the game and there is no reason at all to believe that they’ll work as they should day 1 either.
343i are brilliant salesmen, they sell you what could be but never come close to reaching that goal. Because them actually providing something worthwhile takes and I quote “too much time” for a company with blank checks and a decade of time on their hands to figure stuff out. If you are a fan of Halo just accept the fact that this studio/company are at a loss and that you will never play a great Halo game while they’re at the helm. There is some good possibilities going forward like maybe some of the senior management will be let go that could have an impact but realistically its just a better rule of thumb to assume that 343i will never scratch the surface of the potential that a game like say Infinite has within it.
Stop being angry, frustrated, depressed, etc. about Halo, people like to pretend that Infinite was in a “honeymoon” phase but really I think Halo has been past that point for almost a decade now. Halo will never be great again as long as 343i are in charge or at least until massive changes are made to the company.
btw I expect some duality of man points to be bring up, I had huge expectations/standards for Infinite post launch, but I’m sad to say that its obvious that Infinite will never live up to its moniker. If you haven’t already done so please consider giving other franchises a chance, great games don’t come out too often but Elden Ring just did so there’s a good entry point, just break the cycle of neglect and move on to series/franchises that actually deserve your attention and monies. Stop supporting mediocre companies is the lesson here.
