Infinite vs CODMW2 thoughts

Never been a huge COD fan but bought into the hype and tried it out this weekend. After playing for a couple days both campaign and multiplayer I can’t for the life of me figure out why Halo doesn’t have a bigger following. in my mind even with the issues it has such a better game. I get the desync and ranked play issues and laggy servers but seriously mw2 is not that good. Other than beautiful graphics I’d give it a solid 6/10. I’d say halo in its current state is a 6.5-7 . For the record I’m playing on an Xbox x so it’s possible it’s influencing my opinion but halos aiming and controls seem so much better and just …. Less clunky. Aiming on cod is a disaster. your character shakes like he’s on his 20th cup of double express and your lucky if a bullet even hits where your aiming anyway so it’s basically just point and spray. Is it more realistic…sure but not that fun to play. if only halo could step up and fix some of the issues it has there no reason it couldn’t compete with some of these other games. I think infinites mechanics are way better than we give it credit for. I’d save you guys the 70-100 bucks for mw2 and tell you it’s probably not worth jumping over.

COD campaigns are usually pretty fun and immersive/entertaining.

COD Multiplayer is always just dumb though. I never enjoy it. Not fun at all to watch either.

I love Infinite. All I care about is HCS/Ranked though. Super fun to play (when connection actually works and desync isn’t rampant). HCS is hella fun to watch. If they can get more servers or fix/improve desync to get games more consistent it’ll by far be my favorite FPS game since H3 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 and BF3.

as a long time fan of both, mw2 wins out in this comparison. they are very different fps games but cod wins out for one reason. mw2 delivered exactly what its fan base wanted on launch. its having some slight bugginess but other than that its what fans demand of the game. infinite on the other hand did not and continues to miss the mark with its fans.

I still love both tho.

i always find it odd that people try and compare two totally different types of games.

  1. cod mp is always the same arcade twitch finger fest.
  2. cod campaigns are short, almost criminally.
  3. recycled gameplay, every cod plays awfully similar to the previous.

honestly have no idea why it’s so popular when every cod is basically the same stuff but slightly different.

i enjoyed cod 1 & 2 on pc back in the day. i also played the mw games, the old black ops games and infinite.

skipped everything after the first new modern warfare. they have rubbish replay value.

they put all focus on the crappy mp and the campaigsn are play once and forget.

Why isnt rugby bigger than soccer?

They are 2 different games.

And one has the drip feed of dopamine unlocks perfected while the other is struggling to give you match xp.

One is stable and functional.
The others has jamming and desync a year post launch.

Thatd be the long and short i suppose.

So MW 2019 was the best COD in awhile mainly because they brought back the many devs who made the series great back in the day.

MW2 2022 has so much to offer and will have even more in the next few months. It will have both PvE and PvP content. It will have game modes to compete with:

Destiny → Raids
Rainbow 6 → Prisoner Rescue
All Battle Royales → Warzone 2
Battlefield → Ground War and Invasion
Escape from Tarkov → DMZ

And on top of this has 3rd person modes, co op PvE missions, and still has all of its normal PvP content and has ridiculous amounts of weapon customization and real rewards for playing the campaign.

One of the biggest things for me is how Infinite does unlocks. All of them are too easy to get and just a time grindy nuisance. Give us something like Halo 3 Recon and Hayabusa or H5 Helioskrill. Something difficult to unlock but not difficult due to time required but rather due to skill required. Allow us to show off skill rather than time/money spent on FOMO items.

Infinite nailed the gameplay, maps, and art style but failed in the stability, vehicles, and cosmetic unlock system.

MW2 has given players everything they asked for over the last couple of games and is crazy fun. While Halo CE is my favorite game of all time and the Halo series my overall favorite series it is not hard to understand why Halo is no longer the juggernaut it used to be. 343 focused more on making Halo theirs rather than making a good Halo game for H4 and H5 and now Infinite is suffering from poor management even though they tried to go in the right direction.

*edit @Moditor_026 yeah i thought i had read that somewhere a couple of years ago. I fixed the error.

That is not true.
West retired in 2013.
And zince has been at EA since 2017.
Overseeing multiple teams. Dice LA and Respawn.
No idea where you got the impression they had any involvement MW2019

Minkoff from uncharted 2 was lead designer on that game and i believe infinite warfares campaign designer.

Who? I thought the team was largely the same as IW Infinity ward. Pretty sure the other lead was there since at least MW3.
Pretty sure he was on the spec ops and later extnction teams.

i think you cant tell your thoughts between 2 game’s like cod vs halo.

since in the cod communety there is much hate about the MW2 2022 since its more focus on campers then make sure that camping is harder.
and most people in the cod communety agree that the MW2 2009 version is the best one there is in the cod titels more.
cod MW2 2022 has also there own big problems the communety not like about the game and really hate.

halo infinite is staying with its story line content and keep it so that all the other serie’s tell a big story about the serie’s more.

plus we talk about activision more what is more the same as EA and care only about making big money and not give a crap about there communety at all what there wane or at the stat off the game at all is it compleet broken there still release it.
look the new perk system its one off the hate things in the new cod game also.
same with the camp problems it only has more what a lot off people.
when the older cod titels more got that problem not that big.

so thoughts between halo infinite vs COD MW2 2022 has no use at all since there are both compleet diffrend.

I just started it last night.
I havent setup an Activision account yet, played the first 3 missions offline. Right there that beats infinite, if i remember correctly, you have to be online to play infinites campaign.
On the og xboxone the graphics suffer overall, occasionally theres stuttering when a lot of stuff is going down.
But the way the main characters look is way better than anything infinite has that ive seen. (Especially Agrippa, lol) Tons of little details all over the place, which infinites campaign does not have.
Im up to the ac-130 part.
Campaign feels on rails, but thats o.k.
Im in an ac130 again…wooohooo
Plan on beating the campaign, then moving to multiplayer.
And in multiplayer, i plan on using the riot shield often for the lols
Mw2 feels and looks great so far.
I have one friend playing it.
Hes upset that a lot of staples, like stats, are gone, or less than what previous games had, not sure.
But supposedly that will be added later.
Campaign will have dlc
Its a bittersweet feeling my spartans.
This is the huge game that infinite could have been too, but 343 blew it, and dont care about their fans anymore.
And so much for me being a moocher of reach, ive dropped over a hundred bucks already.

If you search “devs brought back for mw 2019” there are many articles about returning devs. I guess those are what i thought i read when talking about Vince and Jason but was mistaken. Eitherway those people coming back seemed to move COD back into a direction many MW2 era fans loved.

With Halo Infinite, BF 2042, and now MW2 2022 coming out i was hoping for a return to the glory days of H3, MW2, and Bad Co 2 but sadly BF 2042 fell flat and Infinite has technical and item unlock problems (everything is just a participation ribbon). MW2 2022 for the most part seems great and i expect it to suck up many FPS players from multiple games.

Halo has a huge following. If you base your projections or thoughts on the number of players via Steam than you’re going to miss out on many players like yourself that play via Xbox. Halo Infinite to me has the best matchmaking process through my experience because I load into games quickly and are all relatively competitive. Hardly ever is there a blow out one way or another.

There are a handful of things that are missing and should be part of the Multiplayer experience such as Veto’s/Map Selection, but we can’t have everything.

I go down the pathway of thinking that COD will be my new game and I just truly don’t enjoy it like I do with Halo. The social aspect of Halo is the greatest FPS game out there and will always be like that.

Seems like the art and design teams were pretty far along by the time those 6 returned to MW.

It would appear that the reason for MW being a success was more due to activision letting IW forego the gimmick and trend insertion of prior titles and focus on core systems and leveraging the new engine.
Nostalgia probably helped 2.
Many hated 2019 just as they did ghosts IW and MW2.

Considering none of these admittedly talanted folks appear to have been leads an the scale of these titles it might be overstating to suggest they are the reason the game did well.
Its more likely 2019 had less oversight than ghosts BO3 BO4 WW2 and IW have all been said to have had after AW failed to meet goals.
And the benefits of the new engine and a return to 3 year cycle.

Always hesitant to point at individuals as the sole cause of anythings success.
Leads to auteur theory.

Been putting some time in to mw2 over the last few days. As expected, the core gameplay is just not for me. The ttk is too quick, it just seems that if your gun is up first then you win, in most scenarios.

Also, the sbmm is arguably even worse than in infinite, which is absolutely ruining it for me. I haven’t played cod in 10 years, but went really positive my first few games, one of them being 20-1. Since then the game seems to think I’m some sort of super sweat, when I don’t even know how to do all this bunny hop stuff. Anyway, sbmm ruins the fun.

However, I am playing it more than infinite for one reason currently, it has something to reward you for time spent. You unlock items in game, and lots of them. Just by playing the game. Halo dropped the ball by paywalling almost everything worth having in infinite. Cod has cosmetics to show off achievements, not just what you bought in the store. I think 343 underestimate the sort of pull that has to a committed player.

Anyway, I’ll keep playing cod for now until halo is in a better state

Do note Cod infinite Warfare has a grappling hook too. The game was innovative an reminds you some of Halo 4 with the space missions. I’ve seen MW2 does have a large variety of realistic rifles over Halo Infinite which could use some more guns. Forge variants may become quite popular.

MW2 beats halo infinite hands down. It’s a complete game at launch, most of the things fans asked for activision delivered on it, there’s no network issues, no desync, and shots and melees register like they should. 343 could have done great with infinite but they dropped the ball AGAIN

IW was a fine game but a poor imitation of tf2 imo.

I agree with you that its absurd that halo doesn’t have a larger following. When comparing to COD its because they produce more games. Also the companys working on it know what their fans want. They also fix major bugs way faster.

Give them about a month, we’ll see what the comparative drop looks like.

All of the issues in CoD feel like they can addressed in a timely manner, I feel like I have to wait another game cycle for infinite to be remotely triple A
