Hey,
I wonder if this is an issue anybody else encountered. I’ve played the flight the whole week-end, and I realized that, despite me having optic fibre and a very good connexion, as soon as I played the game, I could not watch a stream at the same time or even talk on discord with my friends : Infinite would suck all my connexion up. Did you guys went through the same ? and do we know if this will be fixed in the final build ? I don’t know if it matters or not, but I’m playing in Europe, so it might have an impact ?
Thanks for the answers o/ !

You’re using a PC? Is it a prebuilt? This is actually important information which I feel might help because I had the same issue at one point with even less demanding titles.
Are you trying to do these other things on the same machine or are these two separate machines trying to do two separate tasks? The issue could be with your router/modem.
It’s extremely unlikely Halo was maxing out your connection, certainly in data terms.
First of all sorry it took me ages to answer, I had an error on the forum, I couldn’t post …

I am on a laptop, Asus ROG Strix III. And it usually runs any current titles with no issue at all.

I do these on the same machine yeah. I don’t know about my router though. Usually, I have no issue playing a multi game and using discord or a watching a stream at the same time. I don’t really understand why my router would have an issue only with Halo Infinite …

This is why. You’re in a beta/unoptimized build of the game and doing multiple resource tasking processes. It’s hard to say if it’s your internet or hardware but I’d imagine you’re bottlenecking pretty hard. Especially on a laptop. Not saying you can’t do these things on laptops, but heat begins TK be an issue, thus tanking your performance. Try running with just the game and Discord next time and see if you still have the same issue.

If heat is issue, I’d recommend trying to position you’re laptop in a way where it can bring more air and expel more hot air. Laptops tend to be very constricted when it comes to air cooling. You can also look into under-volting the laptop to reduce heat. That may cause slight dip in performance depending on how much you under-volt but you won’t build as much heat as fast.
I had a network monitoring tool (Netlimiter) up while I was playing to judge the internet usage and connectivity. I can say for certain that I was using between 5-8Mbps to play. It is by far one of the most demanding FPS’s that I have played in quite some time. Even CoD and BF don’t eat that much bandwidth. I believe that 343 might have it set up to utilize as much bandwidth as your network has available to ensure the best experience possible. I would have to get someone else to test that theory (as I only have 10Mbps) but, it looks very likely. Other people I know that played the first flight also had similar experiences with their network while playing.

I had issues with only Discord / Halo running. It was either Halo + twitch or Halo + discord, but I did not even try to do all 3 of them at the same time, considering I had connexion issues with two of them. But yeah, I didn’t think about heat, I’ll monitor it next time, though I fail to see how it would cause trouble with my network speed (I’m not doubting you at all, I’m just clueless when it comes to computers)

If the game is that demanding when can only hope final build will be more easy on the network, cause playing without com won’t be fun otherwise TT
Anyway, thanks for all the answer and insights o/ !

Considering I have a 359 Mbs descending and a 472 ascending with 9 ping … That’s an hard-pass on my side, and the right time on yours to check on your eyes cause you probably missed the “optic fiber” part in my previous message. But thanks for the advice homie, I appreciate it.
I have a 1 gig down and 40 MB up connection myself and had no issues with the beta

That’s why I’m posting here yeah. With my connection, there is definitively something wrong about the game messing up with Discord. I’ll investigate heat as suggested, though playing on a laptop, my pc temp is rarely under 90°C and I had never any issues before. Otherwise, Spunkmeister6 may be right and the game might be set up to use all available connection.
