I like the option to see enemies as a different color since it doesn´t feel right for me seeing them in red after seeing them in yellow all of this years, however, I do not like that after changing the color to yellow everything else in the ui also changed to yellow, since in most other games they are red, incluiding in the default settings for Infinite. This is specially annoying with the motion tracker, because in other Halo games the yellow dots are allies. I would love the idea to not only change the general color of the enemies, but also the colors specifically in the ui.
Also, I think the menus could be simpler. I feel it very unnecesary to have to look at armor piece details before I equip them instead of equipping them instantly and being able to look at the details if I want to.
I am colorblind and not a fan of the implementation of the cosmetic coating when it comes to teammates in particular. Had a rough time during the flight telling the difference between friend and foe, especially in close quarters. Wound up changing the enemy outline to yellow which helped a bit, but I’d rather enemies not have outlines at all or at least let me toggle that on or off. But on the flipside if you keep the coating system, someone on my team can look identical at a glance to an enemy, so if anything a stronger intensity outline for friendlies or larger teammate markers visible at all times would be a simple and elegant fix. I’m a competitive player and have played at a high level since Halo 2 and not had issues with this until the flight we just played. Talked to other people with similar vision problems and they’ve echoed the same thoughts.
During the flight I had to change enemy outlines to yellow and constantly mash the spot button on players I wasn’t sure were teammates or opponents. Was able to make it work sort of, but it would be much easier to just let us modify the intensity of friendly outlines or straight up giving them markers or icons (that are bigger than they were in the flight) at all times.
Other than that, I think the shotgun needs a damage buff and the medals need to not be so uniform. The old medals were easily recognizable by both shape and color. The ones in the flight were small and far too similar/uniform. Didn’t feel like I was earning anything of worth.
First of all, I would like to emphasize how happy I was to be able to take part at the flight. The overall impression was unbelievably positive, despite the issues that were expected and happened… You’re working on an absolute highlight here… I had palpitations, goosebumps and I thank everyone involved at 343i for their hard work on this massive thing
UI & Live specific Review:
Would be great to be able to equip earned items instantly while viewing the battle pass
I missed a comprehensive ranking system apart from the battle pass
Colors of the Ai were not saved when changing the Ai
Towards the end of the Flight, the optical adjustment of my Spartan was no longer saved
At the beginning I had a little difficulty finding out where I adjust my weapon-skins. Perhaps the customization option (or the reference to it) should be made a little more conspicuous idk
I can’t get used to the white on black design until yet and it’s very atypical for halo. The color blue has always had a high priority in the UI in my opinion
It’s very cool how the Spartans hang out in the lobby if friends join them, but also here, only the phenomenal background music and Spartans are really typical for Halo
(Sorry for some grammatical errors. Due to time constraints, I had to translate my notes automatically)
I personally thought the store and battle pass UI was great, straightforward and functional. However I found the armour customisation UI very similar to Halo 5 where it might look good from a presentation standpoint but doesn’t have the best functionality or flow to it, Especially after you consider that a few months after launch how many coatings, armour pieces, AI etc you’ll have to scroll through. The customisation menu would be much more compact and functional if it changed to a vertical layout. Currently have the horizontal 1 item high and X items long would get very frustrating even with tiers compared with vertical rows that are 4 items across and X items down.
While the new medal placement has actually grown on me I do still believe that they’re a tad too small and the current multi-kill medals need a bit more to distinguish themselves from each other. I personally dont like how after overkill all the medals are red, or how after a certain point (I believe killtrocity) it drops the amount stars all together and kind of restarts how many stars on the medal. I understand the whole rare, ultra rare and legendary tier thing that you’re going for but I think that it would more impactful and beneficial for players if each medal in the multikill string had different colours and kept the classic star per kill design or hell maybe for Killtastrosphe, Killlpocalypse and Killonaire you could animated flames or something on the medals maybe going from orange flame to red to blue. Just an idea.
After giving my thoughts on the preview sit for a couple days this is probably the issue I’d like addressed the most.
But other than that Great stuff 343, Halo infinite is absolutely awesome.
Looking forward to that next flight.
Kind of random, but it’d be neat if the customization area/menu with the armor hall, AI, etc. had an option to take you to a medal display. As in a physical glass display case with you most impressive medals pinned to it.
Name plates in the home screen as well as during a game would have all or most of it in a bright pink.
During countdowns layers would pop in and out in sync with the timer. Each second it counted down something would pop over or under another layer. This is especially the case during Weapon Drills in particular.
Home screen pelican would have trouble fully loading in and sometimes have the middle section be invisible.
Images throughout all of the armor customization wouldn’t all load in. Sometimes I could see all the color options at the bottom and no armor. Other times I would see the Spartan but half (at seemingly random) would just not load so I could only see a few color choices. Hovering over the options still applied it to the armor when a Spartan was visible but the image for the color itself was still gone.
Certain options such as changing AI would sometimes default to the BUTLER AI regardless of what you put it as.
The crouch option always required two presses to crouch and then stand again, selecting the toggle would not fix this or change anything.
The “Ghost Grey” color image was missing the color gold despite having it on the armor piece.
In the Vehicle Bay the scorpion treads would sometimes get stuck in the floor and switching vehicles would not fix this.
Sliding would sometimes show the back of the knee on screen with default settings on.
Thank you everyone for stopping in and providing feedback. We are currently navigating through the threads to gather it and at this time are going to lock the threads.
