Bugs in the UI/Menus and changes that would be nice:
The game pops in and out when using the pause menu in weapon drills, specifically when selecting items in that menu. - A change to the players HUD that would be preferable is to also add the weapons ammo count, not in number form, but in the physical display of how many projectiles are left in the weapon’s magazine. - It may also be a good idea to allow the color of the HUD to be changed for accessibility purposes. - The motion tracker would be nice if it were slightly larger. - In the personal AI selection menu, the Butlr AI’s model is a red grid and in the color selection menu every option is a red grid as well. This only happens when you have the Butlr model selected. - In the main menu the game bugs and keeps pulling up a pop up that says, “Can’t connect to fireteam” or something similar to that effect. However when you select “Okay” it pops up again and again, requiring you to restart the game. This happens mostly when I am playing solo. - Occasionally, when trying to boot up the weapon drills, the game will finish the countdown but will not start the weapon drill. - Occasionally in the customization menu, it will display that a piece of armor/visor is equipped to your spartan when it isn’t. I’ve noticed that this happens when hovering over and viewing said piece of armor or visor. This fixes itself when backing out to the main menu, however.
personally i think that halo infinite looks great so far i like the new team system and the cartoon play style i think that some people are overestimating the potential of halo infinite and there is still lots of time before release so theirs a lot of room for change put its just my opinion and i think that its a stong one
Friends List in game is pretty pointless. It doesn’t show what friends are playing and doesn’t do anything the Xbox friends list can’t make up for.
“Over Yonder” Needs to go in my opinion
Having to manually select “Start Matchmaking” every game is weird
Prematch lobby With chat would be great like Halo 3 or currently MCC
Instead of Horizontal lists, go to vertical lists and selection much like MCC. This makes finding games, customization, and navigation so much easier
Ability to Equip items from Battlepass menu would be good
Ability to view Battlepass and Challenges from any screen/be able to see progress in both after each match is needed
Ability to customize character from any screen like MCC and Halo 5, it’s too clunky as is to get from games to customization to store to Battlepass to challenges
Notification on areas where new items are available (Armor Cores, Armor, Weapon Skins, etc.) is definitely needed
Intros and Outros could be customizable as well as Spartans stance in menus
Ability to change my characters voice (if we even hear our voice in game)
Background during loading into matches should be “customize’s slideshow” or some other type of slideshow from the universe
XP should be earned outside of challenges much like MCC
AIs should say line of dialogue when selecting them in Menu (To hear voice)
On my xbox one FAT I had many problems with my progression and profile, at the end of the game I rarely received experience points and for that reason, even though I played all 3 days, I could not pass level 5 in the battle pass.
Post-game Screen
Really love the medals design! There just as easy to read as the original color schemes, if not easier than some. It does a great job of conveying the rarity both during and post game. I also am very fond of how the carnage report highlights the more important stats whilst also telling you how your preference compared to past games. The new approach gives you something you can watch yourself improve with. I think that’ll be great for player retention.
The UI
It is simple and quick to learn, my only suggestions is to include a way to access customizations, boosts, and the shop/battle pass, without having to cancel searching, if you’re the party leader. Also in the settings menu, I would suggest approaching the sensitivity section simular to H5s toggle advanced sensitivity. There are a few ways to approach it, but as long there are basic presets for newer players to select, they should not feel overwhelmed with options (in theary).
Customizations
The customizations options are incredible. I was heasitant with the coating system at first, but I can see the potential and am extremely excited to see what is in store for us. My only suggestion is for the coating system, which would be to include a grouping or filter system so players can prioritize colors or characteristics. This is mainly to fix a similar issue H5 had when you were looking for specific versions of armor. Sifting through a sea of choices hoping to catch the right piece by name as it flashes by.
I can’t wait to see what else yall have in store for the next flight. This game has the potential for being a masterpiece. Keep up the great work!
Already made a post about this but i guess i’ll mention it here as wel.
Medals: The medals apear WAAAAY to small on screen when you get them. but the major issue with them is that they look a little bland.
Medals are supposed to make you feel like you achieved something great and excited. They need to be bigger and more “flashy”. take the multikill medals for example, they are just all red. They should be “flashy” and “in your face” like in H3 of reach with all of their distinctive colors.
I liked the battle pass very much, although in some objects the miniature is seen but it does not change anything in the spartan. Another thing is that I played all weekend but I could not go higher than level 11 because I no longer had challenges to do and therefore no matter how much I played it was impossible to continue leveling up. Outside of that, the truth is that I noticed the rest very stable, the store is very understandable, and I liked the freedom that the game gives you to choose which colors to see in your enemies and friends.
so basically in here I’ll talk about the game in general
positives:
battles pass and customization is quite amazing
challenges are good
the store is quite good and it worked fine with me
menu music is godlike
Spartans appearing in my menu if I invited them is one of the best things I’ve ever seen
negatives:
the color of the menu text (UI) is horrible it is like (white and transparent) not good at all
there UI feels sluggish and slow to navigate and sometimes white lines appear while navigating
the HUD is good but needs a bit more work
we need another from of progression and not just challenges
many times my spartan wasn’t appearing in the main menu + sometimes in the customization page things didn’t show up
The game is really good but the menu/UI needs adjustments
a couple more general feedback:
can we have normal red vs blue option for anyone who wants to
even though I was playing with a friend of mine he wasn’t (the yellow - greenish outline but he was blue)
The medals are cool but please consider their size, color and how are they presented during the game (and after the game - legendry - Epic - Rare - common and so on) + can we have more of them with voices
personal UI is an amazing addition but sometimes ( I hear the game commentary - spartan communications and the personal UI and that is a lot to take in lol )
with the amount of weapons the game is promising can we please have a fiesta mode + husky raid
An UI issue I was wondering about is when you look at the battle pass and just unlocked something, I wish you could apply it right away from within the battlepass screen. Alternatively a shortcut would also be appreciated - e.g. “see this item in armor hall”
When you look at the scorpion tank in the vehicle bay, turning the camera will cause the armor plating that protects the caterpillars flap around like they’re made out of cardboard. Either give them more weight/less movement, or reduce the camera speed.
Dear Devs – Disabled Gamer QOL - AutoRun (AutoMove@Full sprint speed)
Hi all! Hope you all are having a great day! I am writing b/c I’m a Disabled Gamer (neuropathy / excruciating nerve pain in arms&hands) who played the halo infinite tech test & have been so excited to play Halo Infinite!! I loved it but could only play for a few mins because it was too painful on my nerves. I can only play games that have an Auto-Sprint (Auto-move at full Sprinting speed) feature on Console. It hurts so bad when there is NO AUTO RUN option. Usually done by pressing the controller left thumb stick in twice like there is in a lot of other games on Console Ie. PUBG, Fortnite, COD & Division 2 etc. I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal to most people however it would be an extremely & highly appreciated accessibility feature for all us handicapped Gamers (& non handicapped) who cannot constantly press the left thumbstick forward to Run long distances like u need to in big games, or for multiplayer where we are constantly sprinting or moving around. (To be very clear I am not talking about a toggle/hold sprint option or a no click run option. Sometimes people get confused when I bring up the subject. What I am talking about is a full auto-Sprint, meaning having your character Run at full speed (Sprinting) on its own without you having to touch the controller at all. After rapidly double clicking the left thumbstick in twice (or in some games twice forwards) your character is off & running on its own, even if u took both your hands completely off the controller or put the controller down for example your character would keep sprinting away). I prefer double clicking the left thumb stick in twice because I can remap that to another button unlike the latter option above. I play on Console (Series X) but I’m sure PC would like this feature too! Also, since halo infinite has 2 different move speeds maybe u could find a way for us to toggle it to either “AutoMove sprint” or “AutoMove walk” in the settings or even better during gameplay with some sort of toggle. Ok that’s all. Thank you so much for looking into accessibility features for all Spartans!! Thank u for your time!
Im still on the fence about armor coatings. They do look great in general, but they don’t achieve the feeling of making a spartan “your own”. it is more like choosing a pre-manufactured action figure, where you can switch a few parts (apparently a lot of customizations a locked to certain armor cores, so each armor core just has a few options???)
The “anthem” system was way better in that regard, letting you choose primary, secondary and tertiary colors, materials, and wear and tear… this would have been better for monetization as well as 343 could sell even more stuff…
I like the challenges, my battlepass only went up with completed challenges not by experience. not sur if that was intended or just a bug. The customization felt nice, the variety and the different options was simple to use. The store was a nice layout and looked like things i will get. The first bots felts simple, the ODST ones gave a smaller challenge, and the Spartan ones felt like they jumped a lot. The Ui was simple to use but the only complaint was the double xp was bit hard to find. I had smooth experiences on both Xbox and pc.
So i play on pc on my lg tv and the game refuse to use the 1920x1080 résolution but other game those. And i could only chose between bordeless fullscreen and window . I dont think its my tv problem because i can play other game at 4k 60 fps or 1080 and 120 fps. Will the game launch with the option to use fullscreen only mode ? Also i think the ui for the shop and battlepass felt way too basic like all the other free to play game. It could use a halo “flair”. Sorry for my english , my first and second laguage are not english.
Battle pass.
*-*I’m a little confused on the battle pass. It seems you only get XP from doing challenges. I can’t give great advice for this one, but I just think this will make the player feel a bit crappy not progressing after fishing the challenges.
Also a little hard to tell when your enemy has a overshield or is just censored by the threat censor.
I’ll do my best to keep things concise and constructive (and in proper english), with no guarantee of success
About the HUD
First off, despite the comments I’m going to make about it, I found it very nice and sleek, discrete enough (most of the time) yet easy to read and understand; overall I like it very much!
I would have loved the ability to lower the reticle; it is probably irrelevant, but I’ve always been sort of a “wanderer” in Halo, always spending more time looking at the environments than actually shooting, and the more time goes, the more I appreciate the lowered reticle in previous Halo games because it feels like the view is “more open”.
After an irrelevant observation, here’s a silly one : I noticed it was “less obvious” for me to know the amount of rounds I had left in my magazine for most weapons. Contrary to previous Halo games, there’s this time no visual representation of this in the HUD, only the count as a number. Maybe my feeling was also caused by the positioning of the information (bottom right) which I’m not used to, but I feel like I never really had to “read” the amount of rounds left in previous games as far as I remember, because in my peripheral field of view I had this visual representation of it
As much as I understand the interest of “getting rid of RvB” and I was okay with the outline solution, having the allies always showing up fully outlined in my field of view even when they were on the opposite of me on the maps might have been the only thing I felt was “too present” in the HUD. As I explained I love to “enjoy the view”, and this solution brings a valuable information very efficiently, but I may not be willing to get that information on my screen all the time, especially because I got used pretty quickly to the circled “!” indicating my allies pretty fast and felt sometimes the outline was not super relevant. Also on that topic, I’m not entirely sure of what I’m going to say most notably because all the bots were blue and I didn’t have the opportunity to play PvP, but it seemed to me the red outlining was sort of “hiding” their armors and helmets more than it was helping to see those customizations.
The medals were, in my humble opinion, too small, and their “design language” (notably in colour coding) was not feeling “very clear” to me. I had a hard time both in-game and in the scoreboard understanding the difference of some of them, and although I got used to the “conventions” that rule them, they didn’t feel super interesting to look at in the scoreboard for example. I also understand that making them more prevalant in-game may imply to change the positioning which may be hard now, but yeah, I was not fond of those (without “hating” them or anything).
I personnally found the inability to see both types of grenades I was carrying a bit confusing at times, and the need to select one of them to drop them when I wanted to pick up plasma grenades was IMHO adding a weird level of complexity on this. This is my old habits talking probably, but I’m a simple man, and to me “the easiest it is to get something without having to think about it, the better it is” . Something I’ve always been enjoying with Halo is the ability to get my friends to play splitscreen when they come over, including the “non-Halo players”, because at their core most Halo games are pretty straight-forward, and one may feel they can have fun pretty quickly; I know all of my friends and relative always tend to prefer when they can quickly understand the controls and don’t feel “lost” with them or don’t feel like they need to spend too much time to just get it. I’m saying all this because I feel the way grenades are handled here may be a bit “too confusing” when you start playing (not showing all the grenades in the HUD, having to drop some but not all to pick up others) whereas I’m not convinced by this ““level of complexity””.About the menus
I overall thought they were good! They’re straight-forward, and their style is at a right spot where it’s good-looking without being hard to read them.
I may have been confused by some bits of the matchmaking menus, but I’m guessing it’s because some of them were super empty (only one playlist). I had sometimes a hard time understanding who was in my “fireteam” and who was leading the game, but once again I’m guessing it was mostly due to the absence of some informations due to the scope of the tech preview.
The customization menus felt OK to me, even if for some things like coatings I felt the display of the options could have been more “grid-based” instead of fully horizontal to optimize the space on the screen.
Still on the customization menus, I was slightly confused by the fact that navigating through all the categories and subcategories was done on controller by pressing the A button, but “equipping” an item was done by pressing X. (Once again, I’m a simple man, if selecting categories goes with one button, I instinctively feel that once I’m down to the equipment I’m looking for, selecting it should go with the same button )And I guess that’s it! If you read this far, thank you very much, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I felt it is a bit complicated specially accessing challenges and battle pass
also the placement of the boosts is a bit off and I think if it was as same as Halo 5 in the slayer page is easier to access
I have two minor concepts in my head for infinite’s UI.
An option to change the color of my Spartan’s shield. I’m a big fan off the color red and I always wanted so see my own shield in red color without my teammates to appear red too or even as red dots on the radar.
To change the color of the HUD. I know this is possible since Halo 2 Arbiter levels had this.
I don’t know if they are possible of not but it would add a bit more personality to my Spartan
