Infinite Tech Preview – UI & LIVE

The menus felt cluttered and just difficult to navigate.
Some areas of the menu had white text and then viewing other information appeared on top of that that also had white text making it hard to see.

1.-You need to change the radar, becouse It looks like call of duty radar , and It help to campers to camp More . We need the radar like halo 4 .

2.- you need to add More details in the enemy steps , becouse the radar doesn’t work and It can’t detect enemies all most all the time.

So, you change the radar, or you upgrade the enemy step sound.

3.- The mk50 sidekick need less power becouse its so faster and again we dont use the assault rifle.

But , everything else Its ok . i love the game , but you need to change mainly the radar , if i want to play COD , i play COD , no halo .

I would like if there are more skins for the weapons and Also the badges appear too little on screen

I’m not sure if this topic contains to this forum, But in my opinion, I would like to see the medals to be similar to maybe Halo 3 visually and placement speaking. as I played the Tech preview I didn’t like how when you get a double kill or triple kill the medals appeared small which you could barely see and didn’t feel as rewarding as other halo titles. Does anyone else agree or notice this?

The friend/foe system worked surprisingly well! I do have some nitpicks though. Shields being tied to team color leads to the visual feedback being fuzzy. It would be nice to have an option to detach shield color from outline color, for example a red enemy outline with yellow shields. This goes double for over shield as the visual language just shows a brighter red compared to the normal red of shields. Another popular idea is for an option to turn off outlines on either enemies or teammates or both as well as an option to instead display tags above a spartan’s head.

Aside from these issues, the UI overall for me has been without problems and has felt very good in terms of the experience.

Hey 343,

thank you for letting me play in the flight. Overall it was great and I like how you can disable a lot of things in the menu, so you can make Halo Infinite suite your playstyle (like Screenshake, Motion Blur, Spartan Chatter etc.).Things I would like to have more Info about why it is the way it is or please change it to:

  • Equip items directly from the Battlepass would be great - The Post Carnage Report (Scoreboard) should let me scroll to the players more easily (on Controller for example with RB and LB) - When you disable Spartan Chatter, they keep talking. Would be great if they don’t (:

343 and team,

Thank you for inviting me to test out the preview for Halo Infinite. I had a blast this weekend. Unfortunately, it was also Anniversary Throwback weekend, so I put in many hours with that as well.

I’ll start with my specs:
Console - XBOX Series X
Controller - Elite v.2
Monitor - AOC AGON 271QX
Connection - HDMI 2.0

FRIDAY
> I attempted to bind the “mark” button to another slot, but could find no option for doing so. I would suggest allowing players to completely customize their button layout.
1435: BR75 weapon drill would not load.
1452: Invited friend to fireteam. When it loaded him in, he automatically became party leader.
1500: Servers apparently down.
2351: My 2 teammates were loaded into a game without me. I was party leader.
0002: I can not load into a game on the new map.

SATURDAY
2038: Postgame glitch only showed 2 players’ avatars. They were superimposed over one another.
2040: “Unable to connect to fireteam” I was the only one in the lobby. Kept getting the message. Had to hard restart the game.
> Post game menu colors. The white numbers were hard to read since the highlighter color was also white.
2206: Only one avatar showed up in game lobby. 2 players were in the fireteam.
> I attempted to change my service tag, then realized that option was unavailable. I selected the option to show gamertag, but that did not work in-game either.
2242: Game froze during match. Had to hard reset game.
> I suggest you explain what the options mean in the settings menu. I do not know what parallax and bloom mean in the context of Halo Infinite.

SUNDAY
2107: Once I changed my hands to prosthetic hands, I could not change them back. Same for the left foot. AI color option was only red.
2110: Screen flashing when switching between weapon drills in Academy.
2154: First game. When it started, it went straight to postgame lobby.
> I suggest making it easier to report players from in-game or post-game lobby.
2227: Academy INOP. “In Progress” button greyed out. Hard reset game.
> There was no way to tell teammates from enemies in postgame lobby. Colors were all the same. I suggest using selected friend/enemy colors from game.
> I suggest using actual K/D ratios instead of K/D spread.
2300: Can’t find slayer game.
> The toned down sprint is perfect. THANK YOU!!!
0200: Would not connect me to game. Hard reset.

Once again, thank you for the opportunity to play this preview and give you feedback on how the game is coming along. And thank you for listening to our feedback before this preview came out too. I’m very happy with the direction this game is taking compared to the last two. I’m looking forward to the finished product. Lets finish this fight!

Respawn Animation Feedback: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

The respawn screen effect is really awful when paired with the Temporal AA the game uses, please think about going back to the original design the trilogy used

I feel like the battle pass needs to earn something for every match played i completed basically every challenge i could during my times i could play and barely made level 16 with purchasing 3 levels

One issue, in particular, was the Body modifications for replaced limbs.
Enabling and disabling certain body parts wouldn’t reflect your choice properly when you removed the changes from your character.
Usually, in the game, your choice wouldn’t be shown, but in the preview switching back to the option of none or a different option after your initial choice wouldn’t be reflected on your character avatar.

Personally I’m not a super big fan of the BP as it is right now. No XP from winning games but it’s the best a battlepass could be ig.

> The UI is not good for in game. Feels too generic. Like the classic Lowered Crosshair is gone, The visual Bullet counter is replaced by the dime a dozen numbered ammo counter, everything feels a bit off and doesn’t feel very Halo to me.
>
> The Zoom is also a bit off as it doesn’t go in as far as expected for a zoom. If it’s for an assault Rifle it’s fine, but Zoom should be increased by a tiny bit but have no effect on range.

I absolutely agree here, what bothers me most is not having the lowered crosshair option, I really really hope it’s added again.

I have two monitors, my main 2K resolution monitor, and my laptop’s 1080p monitor, I played the flight on my laptop’s monitor at 75% resolution in order to stay stable on GPU temperatures, usage, and overall not crashing. While I played, I was focused on the screen, but found it somewhat hard to tell how many bullets I had left in ammo, what equipment I had on, and what kind of grenades I had, I believe this last issue is both because I can’t see my full grenade inventory and due to the weapon, grenade, and equipment part of the HUD being too small. Even in the few minutes that I played the flight on my 2K monitor (wouldn’t last over five minutes without crashing so I couldn’t test this much), this section still seemed pretty small, in my opinion.

For the UI:

  • I think the armor customization layout should be vertical (like MCC) instead of horizontal. Halo 5’s UI felt a bit cluttered and unorganized at times with how many armor sets there were on the screen. I can’t help but feel that since Halo Infinite is meant to be a decade long game, Halo Infinite will suffer from the same issues that Halo 5’s menu did. I think MCC’s customization UI works better too because it also takes up less of the players screen and allows the player to see more of their spartan.

  • Players should be allowed to rotate their character when choosing their mechanical arms, legs, and overall body type. Doing so would allow the player to better see the right arm/leg and changes the body type has all around.

  • There should also be voice previews for the AI in the selection screen. I would only discover what my AI would sound like until I entered a match and if I wasn’t a fan of it I would usually forget to change it before loading into my next match.

Battle Pass:

  • Players should be able to earn XP after completing matches no matter what. Whether a player owns the battle pass or not they should still earn XP for matches they complete. For bot matches I believe players should still earn XP but have it be less than what a PvP game would be since bot matches last around 5-7 minutes on average. One other thing is that XP boosts felt a bit useless since the only XP I earned was from challenges and not game completion. I can’t help but feel that players will be mad for buying a battle pass where their progression through it is reliant on weekly and daily challenges.

Challenges:

- In the flight, challenges felt a bit bare bones since it was either “play x amount of matches” or “kill x amount of enemies”. Although I can understand it was a bit hard to have a variety of challenges since it was only matches against bots and I remember there being more diverse challenges in the flight tech preview livestream.

  • I also think there should be more daily challenges available to the player. 3 challenges felt very scarce and I would often go through them pretty quick until I had none left and then my battle pass progression was locked. I think players should have up to 5 daily challenges available so they have a good amount of challenges to go after each day.

I feel the player outlines are distracting and make it seem like the characters do not fit into the environment. I think it would be better to have the option to turn off enemy outlines. Still seeing friendlies outline is distracting but makes some sense since they can be seen through walls. The glowing outline adds to the visual clutter.

Hi! I feel that currently the layout of the UI in the customization menu shows a minimal amount of information, and I personally would prefer a a grid array to select from, Where when I click on the Helmets tab, it’ll bring up a grid of various helmets for me to select, with part of the screen showing the manufacturor and other details so I don’t have to go into a separate menu to see that. As it currently stands it feels like I go into submenu after submenu to get what I’m hunting after.

I also would like to see options for moving various parts of the HUD around if possible, or perhaps allow us to switch between various HUD layouts? I much prefer the weapon and ammo to be on the top right corner of the screen.

Thirdly, I would like to see more of a difference between the various Tabs (multiplayer, shop, customization) because I feel like I spent a decent amount of time searching for the Customization menu.

Additionally (and I apologize if this does not fall under UI but there are UI suggestions in it if that helps.) I feel like the current Armor Coating system leaves a lot to be desired, but I understand it’s purpose. Currently it feels like padding for the battlepass and hoping a color combination that I like is available. I feel like a good compromise for me, is to allot a small color palette to each Armor Coating so the players feel like they have more of a choice in the customization of their Spartan, and I feel that falls in line with the idea that our multiplayer Spartan is “ours”

  • UI seems very cluttered and is displayed in a jarring way, I believe columns displaying armor coatings/armor piece would be more appealing rather than the horizontal system that was implemented - Couldn’t determine what player was talking without opening the scoreboard - Be able to have the option to toggle the scoreboard - In order to apply boosts you had to open the battlepass menu, Seemed very counterintuitive instead of being apply to apply boosts in the waiting menu wth a simple button - The menu’s feel cluttered, To much to fit in

It was cool if you click the stick in the customization menu you can pick a random piece. But to take it to the next level, it would be cool if you can have it automatically randomize itself between each match, so you can show off all the pieces of armor you’ve unlocked and stuff. Plus favoriting pieces could change that randomize feature to just randomize favorited pieces of customization.

My experience with the UI; I dislike it very much. I’d prefer to see a new age Reach UI. The horizontal scrolling and the lack of character of each menu is saddening. It represents games like Apex or Fortnight in a generic and bland manner. Halo 5 UI was better.
