I cannot stand the Rick grimes Spartan team leader that is all other than that the flight was great
I think 343 has gone in a great direction with the battle pass so far. One major concern I have is the ability to buy levels on the pass. While I am aware this is common in other games, and all items are cosmetic at the end of the day. I feel like it gives less incentive for people who are playing though the pass normally. What’s the point in working towards that cool helmet at the end of the pass when it can just be bought?
The U.I. feels a bit cluttered at times, I think it has to do with some of the transparency in the menus. As far as u.i. in the game, I like the ammo counters, and the zoom functionality on most guns, specifically the battle rifle, assault rifle, and the sidekick. The grenade counter, and the ability pickup counter is also great. I do wish that there was a way to see what other grenades you have in your inventory though. I think for the battle pass you should earn xp at a constant rate, rather than just through challenges, as playing the game as is, is fun, but doesn’t feel rewarding at times, so constant xp gain I feel would help with that.
The game is good, but you guys are the worst -Yoinking!- -Yoink- ever, as you worked hard and ended up giving the worst -Yoink- on servers even with the -Yoinking!- invitation on my main account, he never let me play better, never let me play in this one that I don’t even occupy
make sure that the pass not only goes on with the daily or weekly challenges but also with the completion of the matches, otherwise it is too frustrating
- A grid view for customization items (armor pieces, coatings, etc) would be a vast improvement over the single-row horizontal scrolling view, which will become more and more tedious as the player earns new items.
- Please separate enemy outline color from the enemy radar blip color and shield charge. Having all three the same color leads to visibility problems when trying to read the radar and figure out much shield an enemy has.
- PLEASE don’t make Shoulder armor pieces separate unlocks. We have a good system with the Halo Reach unlocks in MCC, I don’t think anyone wants to have to unlock each shoulder independently, and NO ONE wants them to be separated by tier on the Battle Pass.
The in hud scoreboard and timer are incredibly tiny and almost near impossible to read if your playing on the couch at any sizable distance from the tv. Subtitles are almost twice as large and easier to read than the score board that at a glance in the heat of combat is super hard to read. The kill feed could also be increased in size to make it easier to read at a distance
There are times when it is too dark, and it looks somewhat generic. It would be nice to give it some more color and life, or even leave the background of the main menu with some blur or with a slightly transparent color layer.
No way to mute a player that I have found maybe adding this to the player Scoreboard and no way to see who it talking on the screen while playing you have to check the scoreboard.
Progression for the battlepass didn’t seem to be changing unless you completed challenges. I hope this isn’t how it’s going to be as you can progress in most games battlepasses by just playing. If you have to complete challenges it makes it more of a grind
Here is my feedback on the UI:
- Let us rotate our Spartans in the body customization menu, I couldn’t find a way to do it so I assume you cannot. - Move ammo and weapon HUD information back to the top of the screen or give me the option to move it there with customization. - The crosshair should be lowered, or at least give me an option to lower it, when the crosshair is in the center of the screen, half the screen is always the floor, I’m not sure why you changed it to be centered but I don’t like it. - Remove grenade hitmakers from all multiplayer gametypes, I know it was said that they were going to be removed from competitive, but I see no value in having them in social either, it’s way too much information to give someone just for throwing a grenade, and it encourages grenade spamming just to find out if someone is behind a corner, and I don’t like that gameplay loop at all.
I don’t have too much to say, It was pretty glitchy for me but I’m sure you guys will have it handled by launch.
The one big gripe I have is the rewards. I really hate when games reward you with something very basic and call it like “epic” “legendary” “rare”. Please just re-think how you present the items. Also most the color schemes you offered made the armor kind of just look like “Legos.” I have to be honest I really was not a big fan at all.
just some honest feedback to consider. Thanks so much for letting me play!
PROS: Part I like about the UI is how at the end of a game during the carnage report, your KDA is MAGNIFIED for you and everyone to see. And I like that because it makes it even that much more worth it when trying in games, but better yet, ONE SINGLE BUTTON PRESS to jump into the next game. AWSOME. LOVE IT! Plz don’t change either of the two. Another positive is that when you are killed, it shows you your killer, AND the person who assisted them in that kill. An awsome add to halo, perfect.
First let me start off that the UI or TITLE screen was a lil mundane to me. needs a lil Oomf (pazzaz) to it, but I’m sure it’ll look better with full release. Hopefully
CONS: Weapons Bench - should show Prev and Next weapons when scrolling (Possibly faded as well)
Vehicle Bay - should possibly have the same concept I mentioned above
Prothesis, BODY & AI - Should be able to rotate model (avatar)
CHAT BOX ON PC…when a new message appears…it should show the bottom most recent message, but it doesn’t. When new message is received it will only show the TOP OF THE CHAT, and would need to scroll down to bottom of chat during gameplay just to see the recent message. The chat box need to show bottom of chat when message is received.
*INDICATOR FOR GRAPPLE NEEDED - I’m always shooting the grapple constantly hoping to be able to cling onto something, but 4 out of 5 times I’m missing. If only there was a ghost indicator that maybe changes color when your in grapple distance, so it’ll be easier to make that first important grapple lunge without losing precious time grappling, And in a game where every second counts…this is a very important issue to figure out.
GRENADE INDICATOR PLACEMENT - it may just be me, but I feel like the indicator for the grenades can be confusing while in a game, I don’t know what 2 types of grenades I have until i switch them, and even switching them is difficult at times do to the fact that the SMALL LINE THAT INDICATES YOU HAVE MORE NADES IS JUST TOO SMALL. there needs to be better identifying of grenades. Take Halo 3 for example, there a 3 different slots and pics for your grenade selection. Halo Infinite needs to adopt that same concept.
Battle pass and challenges:
Had a few problems with the battle pass where there was no way to level up, after finishing weekly challenges progress slowed to a crawl, I hope you consider adding an xp reward for playing matches or give infinite challenges to complete.
Speaking of challenges I really disliked the daily challenges where it’s “play x amount of matches” especially when from then on the amount of matches would increase but the xp reward would stay the same, it was like the game is trying to cap the xp I can earn.
Xp boosters now count time while you’re in the menu? This sucks the other games have done this right, queue times should not use up your xp boost
I’m concerned with “swap challenge” being a monetized reward item especially as a reward in the battle pass. I’m completing challenges to work towards getting me an item that lets me swap those challenges…right…?
But other than that the reward track seemed pretty good, I know there’s more planned for the final release, not too much filler in the pass. Are you guys planning to include some premium currency in the pass as well like many other games?
UI:
-The settings menu felt a bit cluttered due to the pure number of items, you could put keybinds for example in a popout menu under controls. Making the text slightly smaller would also help condense everything.
- Ui text was too big even on smallest text setting
- Armor hall coatings menu should be able to scroll down as well due to sheer number of coatings down the line, it would suck to scroll through them all
-Ui aesthetic is very nice, it looks clean I like it - Would be nice to have an option to disable my reticle changing colours when over an enemy, I know it’s fine for a lot of people but it throws me off
-Let me see all my grenade types at once on hud and the amount
-I should be able to view my active challenges without entering the battle pass
-Xp boost time should show oustide of battlepass menu.
I’m not sure where to put this, as it is technically for the app test, but I’d like a way to preview my spartan’s voice (or AI, the Latin made it hard to tell what I was actually changing)
They have already told them practically everything, so I just want there to be a little more personalization of the menu, that is, it would be great to choose which music we want to listen, even put music from previous deliveries. (Reach, ODST, Halo 2…)
Speaking of the battle pass, I think they should reduce the cost of extra experience or exchanges, as it ends up being more profitable to level directly and that is meaningless, in turn should last longer, 30 minutes seems to me little.
Coming into the Flight the first impression I got was the clean utility of the Main Menu. While I believe that there should be more avenues for players to look at their current challenges, the UI was distinctly un-cluttered and easy to navigate when compared to some of Infinite’s industry contemporaries. Having said that, the experience is far from perfection and leaves some solid room for improvement. Too many button presses are required to navigate the UI at present. I do believe that there should be an easier way to view inventory/skin selections on guns and vehicles as panning through each individually, especially when adding a coating to a Spartan, takes far too long-- especially when the game has issues saving your selection which was an issue I encountered numerous times. Any included Lore that may be unlocked in the future will be a pain to access and read based on what I was able to see during the test.
The challenges themselves were rather bland and unimaginative; play X number of games is fine as a passive in the background challenge and I have little issue with Kill X number of players with the Bulldog but there’s nothing here truly grabbing my interest. I understand it’s relatively difficult to design a challenge that doesn’t impact the core experience of gameplay for others on a player’s team, nobody wants the infamous Turok betrayal achievement to poison their Online experience. That said, challenges such as “Get kills with only your pistol in 1 non-competitive match” would be appreciated. Slightly outside the box but not too far from it. I know the MCC has a similar Battle Pass and it works well there but I genuinely do not care about getting a non-distinct knee guard for my Spartan. If they are going to pad the pass, pun intended, I would like to see items that are interesting for each slot. Obviously, this isn’t a point of feedback that can change for launch or a number of seasons post-launch but I’d rather get any number of BP filler from other games compared to a square and boring knee or shoulder pad.
When completing a match/challenge there wasn’t much hype, the bar would slowly fill and if you unlocked a new tier of the pass, that was the most memorable bit of the experience. I don’t need fireworks and screaming to give the moment a bit more oomph but I think the experience of levelling should look and sound more satisfying. On the note of the pass, I have no issue with players being able to spend money to advance through the pass. It’s their own prerogative if they wish to do so but I do believe a set challenge that is unpurchasable is a great idea which seems to be what the capstone challenges are for.
As an individual that has worked on Live titles, I understand the need to iterate and respond quickly and this test was a great success from everything I was able to see within.l There is a lot to improve on but the foundations are solid. You currently have what would be acceptable as an industry-standard Battle Pass if you were to launch tomorrow with 100 tiers that were equivalent to what was offered here in the Flight. However, I think that there is clear room to improve on the foundation in the time prior to launch that will further make this title’s Live presence one that other games will want to copy, outside of the FOMO elimination with the non-expiring pass.
My feedback for the battle pass: Match completions should reward battle pass progress and not just challenge completions. Challenge completions should be an avenue to provide players with extra experience, not the main source of progress. I think it would better respect the players time investment into the game by having match completions be the main source of progress.
-Difficult to navigate to the Battle Pass. It feels like I have to go to the store or challenges in order to get to it.
-It was extremely difficult to find where it actually displayed how many credits I had. There needs to be somewhere for this.
-Scrolling through all the unlocks horizontally was extremely tedious. All of the armor, then the coatings, and then the weapons/vehicles. I spent a lot of time scrolling. There have been some fan-made concept UI designs on the Halo subreddit that have shown ideas for improvments. It involves opening up the screen more to show the unlocks.
-The UI is generic and tedious to navigate. It feels too much like a black and white wall of text. The fireteam/fireteam members section on the side also needs improvement. I understand that this is a technical preview; I would not be surprised if much of the UI is like this because at this time it exists purely for functionality. However, in the final game it is important that it is not left this way.
-All these advanced/niche settings do not need to be displayed all at once. For example, the weapon offsets and more fine sensitivities. These are amazing and important settings. However, there must be ways to make things a little less busy. Perhaps hide them behind a down arrow menu that opens up. I’m not a UI designer, but I just think that it’s far too busy and too much to look at.
-Need voice chat/mute features in game
-The in-game scoreboard is so hard to comprehend at times. I can barely see it.
-Outline system has me shooting anything that moves. Including teammates. I’m no game-dev, but there must be a way to add options to make it easier to distinguish. Thickness of enemy outline? More saturation on the outline?
-This is probably one of the most important things. There is no visual indicator of how many bullets are left in your magezine. There is only a number/percent. I can appreciate that 343 is trying to keep the HUD clear, but I HATE this. It was very nice to be able to just glance down and see how full the ammo bar was for a Covenant weapon, or see how many of the four bullets were left in my Sniper. While it isn’t diffcult to look at a number, it doesn’t attract as much attention to it. It’s just unnecessarily less convenient; it also made Halo unique. Halo has always shown the magezines, while a lot of other shooters don’t. Without the visual indicator, the “Reload” prompt that flashes on your screen has been added. This takes up more space and can be distracting. I understand that this would require a slight redesign of that corner of the HUD, but this is such a huge thing.
Thought I give my 2 cents
- Can the outer circle on the sniper when zooming in be removed, its very distracting and seems unnecessary. Doesn’t really add much or inform the user on how to be more accurate when shooting scoped in. - For team based games can we have a option to turn on red vs blue instead of seeing players armor colors. Make it much easier to see who is on whos team. - Couldn’t tell who was next to me on my team when playing because their gamer tag / service tag wasn’t showing up in the HUD. If that could be shown that be great.Thank you!
I’d like to see XP counted differently toward the battle pass than just the daily/weekly challenges, preferably something tied to performance each game also.
Thought the rest of it was set up nicely and had a great weekend testing it out. Can’t wait for the next test run.
