Infinite Tech Preview – UI & LIVE

The menu ui is too generic and there are way too many bugs with with the ui. Such as items not loading. I liked the in game ui, it was simple, and Intuitive.

-I would love for us to be able to choose between lowered and centered crosshairs like in MCC. For those that enjoy that experience and especially since there’s so much customization about the weapon offsets as it is.
-In game UI is a different story. Im not a fan of the generic numbered ammo counter at the bottom right of the screen like we have in every other fps game. Especially since we still had the classic halo bullet counter at the top right in halo 5. I just don’t see a reason to change that, especially when it’s worked perfectly fine in the past and it’s currently just cluttered up with everything else at the bottom of the screen. And there’s just so much nothing going on up top. It’s just shields and health. Why does everything have to be shoved down to the bottom half?
-As far as the game itself, it’s a little confusing to navigate in the main menu when you can move around to so many different things at once and have to press certain buttons to get out of it. Sometimes it’s hard to tell exactly what I’m clicking on unless I have my own cursor (im playing on Xbox). Not saying it needs to be like Destiny’s UI, but it’s just kinda weird the way it is now. I just don’t see why we can’t go back to the simplicity of older game’s UI like halo 3 or Reach. Even halo 5 did it right to a degree. Not the customization menu obviously, since there was absolutely no way to efficiently navigate 200+ armor sets and helmets, but navigating between your favorite campaign missions and multiplayer playlists was easy enough.
-Medals. Medals NEED some more love and appreciation. Im gonna echo hiddenexperia here, but medals have been on the decline in this franchise since after Reach. As much as I’d like to say I’d like to go back to the old designs for them, I’d also just settle for just emphasizing them better. Make them stand out on screen like putting it above the kill feed. It’ll make it easier on the eyes and feel more rewarding that way. And again, it’s just a little thing the older games did, don’t know why we can’t do it now.

I would like to recommend the idea of receiving experience based on only playing matches too! I had let down because, despite the fact of completing all the challenges, I just reached Level 7 on the Battle Pass :’(

Horizontal menus is not great for armor/weapon customizations and battle pass items. Have to scroll through a long list to get the intended items and takes forever to get there.

General Feedback:

• I know this was an old build, and I guess this is something that will be polished towards release, but the lack of placeholders or poor quality of placeholders when things were slow loading while the backend was being stressed was pretty bad. I know it will bloat the game some, but having quality placeholders that just plain work and show instantly (at least for those on SSDs like the XSX or a gaming PC) will give a better impression to the player.
This applies to the battle pass as well.
• The score board is really hard to read. Felt like a grey-ish white font on a grey background. Hopefully that is being addressed.

• Figuring out how to buy an XP level is a little cryptic for some. I saw numerous people online asking how to purchase a level. You have to go into the pass, press the Y button for consumables, then buy the level. Kinda weird. Might be easier if that was an option right on the Season Pass screen.

• Why can’t we turn our Spartan when changing our body type?
It’s hard to see much of a difference between the 3 options.
• Having to click an extra button to go into the mods to change our armor, color, etc. seems a little weird. I missed the “Customize” button at the bottom of the screen at first.

• The options screen for UI, controller, sound, etc. settings is…intense. It is absolutely awesome that we have all these options, and this looks to be the most customizable Halo EVER, but I’d suggest maybe having a small list of common adjustments on each setting tab, and then a way to see all the “advanced” options for players that want or need them. Not really something that bothers me, but thinking about someone brand new coming to the game, those screens, especially for console players, will be overwhelming.

• I was probably blind but I couldn’t see an easy way to see how long before a “wall weapon”/weapon locker would refill. Sometimes the weapon outline was blue but I couldn’t grab the weapons.

Small but I beleive a animation when you get the battlepass should occur to make it clear and obvious the game knows you got the BP. Also we need more XP towards the BP than just challenges. It can get tedious if the only challenges are complete x amount of matches. It really kills the incentive to play and try. Lastly the U.I needs to be a little more obvious on what you’re hovering over. A few times I got lost with what I was clicking on.

The idea of the pass is good
what I don’t like is the way experience is granted just for challenges and not just for playing
I know it is a test but if I would like there to be more variants

The concept of the battle pass is very good but the bad thing is that you cannot level up by playing games, only with challenges. Some bugs that I noticed from the battle pass are as follows. On some occasions, the images of what the battle pass was wearing were bugear, looking quite large when the object was not selected, something similar happened but this was in general, all the objects of the battle pass disappeared without any context, but when I selected any object it would appear but then to return to the battle pass they would disappear again. These are the bugs I observed from the battle pass, I loved everything else. Regarding the challenges I only saw one error and that is that when completing these they did not give you the EXP that appeared in the challenge. I also liked the concept

MEDALS
-I wish the medals had a larger design and were above the kill feed again.
CLUTTERED

It is too cluttered on the screen when a bunch of things are popping up on the left of the cross hair. That also goes for the assist and kill confirmation text that pop up, the reload reminder, and the score board it all gets in the way and clutters the screen too.

I commented about the problem with the challenges about pvp, in especific challenges about CTF, it was fixed, but I reach the level 15 in the Bettle Pass and there isn’t any challenge that can make me level up, there was only one challenge and it was marked as complete, but in the last minutes from the preview, a new challenge appeared. I don’t liked that the BattlePass only can be completed with challenges, I prefer win BattlePass levels with the exp of matches and challenges. About exp, the double exp boost was useless because it was for 30 minutes, so in challenges about complete 3 or more matches the boost was useless, because you only could up the battlePass level with the challenge completed, maybe the double exp could be more useful if it increased the completed match required to complete the challenge

The 100 points for kills and 50 points for assists gotta go!! It’s not back to the roots at all it’s a completely new mechanic and it doesn’t mean anything. Completely ugly part of the UI.

I would like to emphasize only the battle pass. It really is not a good idea that you can only increase by doing challenges, because at a certain point they end and all that time spent playing you feel that it is a waste. The challenges should be a Plus for him and give you experience according to your performance in the games, so you have a reason to improve and play more. I also consider that its interface is a bit “Meh” and somewhat ugly, but this is already something very subjective.

I had issues with spartan color selection, specifically scarab punch wouldn’t allow me to equip it because there was no button to do so.
Also my challenges stopped working at level 10, until the daylies refreshed.
And lastly the back button was missing in the weapons hall, so I could only exit with the escape key.

The battle pass system is pretty good to say the least but we need to earn xp for simply just playing the game. I didn’t even get to reach level 20 in the battle pass because for some reason all my challenges were for PvP when it wasn’t even available at the time. Challenges are great, but you guys said you don’t want to make it a chore to get items in game but that’s literally what it was in the technical preview.

Would like to see the ammo counter go back to the previous style.
I and a number of others had a lot of difficulty knowing how much ammo we had left, in general everything was a bit small and crowded together.
Just a little more legibility would go a long way.

Maybe more color options besides the team outlines as well. Being able to change shield colors would be nice, I had a lot of trouble knowing when someone’s shields would pop or if they had overshield on.

30min XP boosts should only count down in matches, not while in menus.

Fov and performance For console should have more options and explanations for what settings you choose. Fps overlay and resolution function or estimate when changing fov slider would be nice to choose a healthy balance gamers are comfortable with on console. I’m sure xsx is not doing 120 fov at 1440 native upsampled to dynamic 4k and 120 FPS. Being able to see that if you choose 95° or 100° fov your new average FPS will Be around 85-90 would be nice. Especially for people with Vrr tvs. Pc has always been able to see that and fine tune. I think it’s time to level the field. Maybe tone graphics down option to increase fps and resolution option as well

I think that the HUD markers for power ups and power weapons take away some of the incentive for learning the maps and weapon locations. The timer and announcement for the powerup/weapon spawn does the same thing.

For the battle pass, I wish I could instantly equip whatever I got while looking through the battle pass or when I get rewarded. Not have to go through the customization menu and then equip.

Also, I wish we could preview the voices of the AI, not have to wait till we go to a game to hear them.

As a player playing a Halo game for the first time, the in-game UI felt too unintuitive. A lot of times it was unclear how to use a specific ability. I didn’t even know we had access to four separate ones until much later, and I only found out how to use them by going to my keybinds in settings. Similarly, I had no idea how to switch between my grenades and only figured that out quite later when I was just browsing through my settings. It would be great if we could have more information available so that it is easier for new players to get accustomed to the controls. Perhaps make it an option to reduce the UI hints for veteran players if they find it too cluttered, but it is vital for new players I believe.
