I know that you can use a custom layout for the controller but I really feel the default for dropping a weapon should be going down rather than right.
One suggestion for the armory. Swap the inspect and the equip buttons in the UI. So the “X” button for inspect and “A” for the equip. I found myself going a layer deeper than I intended when trying to customize my spartan.
Minor gripe but could we maybe change the beep you hear when navigating the menus? We’re going to hear it a lot and the current one is just a quick single high pitch tone. It kind of sounds like a beep you’d hear on a calculator.
Re: the Spartan customization, you don’t know how far the options go to the right and it’s kind of hard to tell what you’re looking at. I think it might be easier if the selection boxes were over the actual Spartan and then you had some boxes to the side for non-specific selections (coatings, sets, etc).
Not enough daily challenges to complete battle pass without buying levels
Overall I do agree with a lot of people here where I felt the UI was too busy and I felt it weird to go in and have to equip the armour I unlocked rather than just selecting it. It does look nice and I feel it would flow better if there wasn’t so much.
On the 2 days I played I experienced no issues just a latency problem with end game and then connection lost and I couldn’t see my match summery. As for game play I found it easier when I outlined my team in yellow so I was easier to see in on the hub than the blue. Also an easier way to mute mic because it took me a minute to find it and I had to go to settings to to adjust or mute team members. I really enjoyed playing for my second time playing a Halo saga.
- Love that we can hide the UI in some places. Makes it really easy to snap screenshots.
- White on black on opacity backgrounds was hard to read
- Really unclear where the active item was on screen. Needs to be clearer what I have highlighted.
- A single button toggle to hide the UI anywhere would be great for snapping screenshots.
- You setup all the Spartan’s for a great group photo opportunity, and then don’t give us an easy way to click a button to snap a screenshot without UI clutter in the way?!
- Let us wander, zoom, and move around the weapons, items, armor and especially vehicles. Make it like Forza Vista.
- Flow is good. Things are where I expected them to be.
- Why are consumables only an option in the Battle Pass screen and no where else?
- Single scrolling horizontal line of items does not seem like it’ll be a good idea in a year when we have hundreds of parts/accessories.
- Great lighting for previewing armor and gun skins!
- The same button performs multiple tasks on the main menu? Hold it for one thing and tap for another? Seems confusing. There’s a lot of buttons on the controller you could be using instead of hamburger twice.
- Playlist details need to be more nuanced. Tell me the weighting of the maps, give me a map preview, etc.
- Some sort of map/mode voting so that the community can let you know when there’s something we do or don’t like.
- Really unclear how many credits we have left to spend in the store. Or how many we have in general.
- Destiny’s UI makes it really clear what you get for buying the battlepass AND makes it clear at every level what is free vs battlepass unlocks. In the test I couldn’t understand what items I was missing out on if I didn’t buy the battlepass.
- When playing you show +100 for a kill, etc… but those points aren’t XP. So why do I care? We’re playing for kills not points!
I love the battlepass system. The only suggestion I have is allow players to avoid the challenges all together, this is the worst aspect for me when it comes to games, and how they force you into a must-do this to progress system. Players need to be able to approach the game in their own ways, and you have already made leaps and bounds with that, by making the battle pass permanent. But I don’t want to have to do challenges, and farm swaps. If I can lvl up the battlepass just by playing the game, and getting xp from matches, that would be ideal. I want to ignore the challenges completely as they make me play in a way I normally wouldn’t, and trying to check the challenges off the list to get xp sucks the fun I could be having just playing the game the way I actually want to, but here I am farming challenges all day. Challenges should be way faster for grinding xp, but not something you are forced to do. Don’t punish someone for just wanting to play 4v4 social slayer all day. The challenge swap is also a bit concerning, I hope these are you get 5 free a day, and that you won’t be selling swaps in the store, it just feels like a petty system to make money off of. The XP boosts are okay, if people want to waste money on lvling up, go for it, it’s their pixels to gain and loss of their money, and that is a more passive low management direct way of grinding, But the swaps seem to be rng based, and thus need to free, or rewards from play. No more gambling please (REQ packs). Have challenges I can choose, and not swap out a challenge for another random challenge. It would be very annoying if the game is challenge focused, and I spend hours juggling swaps and trying to get challenges done to unlock some shiny thing on the battlepass. Basically all I am hoping for is that the battlepass is a passive feature I can pay for, and that I can progress it the way I want, and not have to play a challenge game within a Halo game.
The UI it is decent such as every game with this method. its cool to know about it will be unlimited. the images of the UI were distortioned and no-high quality, some titmes some body parts do not change on what you wanted.
Weapons have different scope magnification and aiming sensitivity.
I would like to add an option to apply the aiming sensitivity of 1:1 when not using the magnification and when using the magnification.
Feedback on UI/ HUD during gameplay:
- Medals needs to be more prominent during gameplay. Currently they are too small in size to notice.
- Switch to Halo 5’s placement of HUD elements such as grenades/equipment on top left, ammo counter on top right, scoreboard on bottom right and score streak/ medals to bottom center.
- Red hit marker indicating confirmed kill around the reticle needs to be dialed down a little, it is too thick at present.
I think the UI lacks feedback, I didn’t know I had earned the battle pass rewards until I checked up on the armory, and when changing settings it feels like I’m not changing anything due the lack of feedback. I also think the “groups” in the settings menu (e.g. the movement key bindings on the key bindings tab) should be retractable for an easier management,
the ui is ok for the game I didn’t like how dependent on challenges the battle pass is I hope there will be enough to keep leveling more than 7 tiers a day that’s what i was able to do completing all challenges with no xp boost. also i couldn’t figure out how to hear the ai voice before i selected it and went into a match with them
Scrolling through the battle pass feels weird. Like it starts with your cursor (or the square highlighting your selection) going from left to right, but then your cursor stops in the center and the whole list of items is moving left so that your cursor is over them. It should just be one or the other.
I personally think it would be better to just be able to move your cursor from left to right to scroll through the items. HOWEVER, if there are more items to be seen, the cursor should not be highlighting the item furthest to the right. The whole list should shift over so that you can tell that there is more to view. It’s hard to explain this without a photo.
For example, if you are looking at item 17, you should be able to see item 18 to the right of that. And then when you move to 19 you should be able to see 20. When you move to 20 that is the end and your cursor will actually then move to the right and hover over the 20th item.
I’m going to break this into parts: Menu, Battle Pass, Armor Hall Gameplay UI.
Menu:
-
It can be quite tricky to see when someone joins the fireteam as the bottom fireteam/friend list info is so small. - News box should be a pop-up a least give the option to hide it. - Switching between the three main sections was slow at times. - Features accessed with start button (settings, battlepass, etc) seems too hidden. - Settings and battle pass should have sections accessible from the main menu by default or given blocks like Customization and the Store. - Menu is confusing to navigate at times. Customization should be accessible at all times along with settings. - UI of store is fine, but add some kind of clear refresh timer for each piece if its timed. - Block the store prices off in a solid colored bar instead of part of the item photo for more clarity.Battle Pass:
-
Paid and Free tracks should NOT be together, makes it confusing to see what is what. Split them into two tracks with (Free on top and paid below or vice versa). - Let us preview the armor or coatings on OUR Spartan. - Remove the 3D previews behind battle pass. Make it a separate thing so that screen isn’t cluttered. - Move extras like button prompts for credits or boosts to a bottom bar and make them more clearly identifiable.Customization:
-
Change horizontal UI with pictures to vertical bar to the side with names of each piece similar to 3, Reach, 4 or 5. - Change horizontal scrolling when choosing a piece to blocked sections. Columns of 3 or 4 with however many rows. Attachments should also follow this, but stay nested within their base armor piece. - Let us rotate our Spartan in all customization menus.Gameplay UI (HUD):
-
Give size options, UI can feel small and hard to read. - Position presets or ability to customize position of elements (Infinite vs Classic HUD). - Make shield and heath bars more distinct colors or separate them a bit, they blend together and are hard to read from each other. - Bring back recharge timer line from Halo 5. - Give options to see more information on HUD like ammo count and different grenades as separate blocks instead of compacted. - Seeing Teammate ID’s instead of the dots. Hard to tell who is who.I’ll add more if I think of any, but this will do for now. Loved the flight!

Menu seems a little confusing always wondering where specific things are sometimes.
Give us the option to mute or lower voice of personal Ai.
Bring back some classic medel design like killionaire for example.
Medels are too small double kills, killing sprees etc.
Only have the XP booster counter go down when you’re actually in game not in the menu. Have it paused when match ends and continue when you get back into a game
When you decide to see the total score of the game (when the match its over), the gray background and white letters make it difficult to read the results.
The menu is just bad, like some times, I’m making some modifications to my spartan and suddenly I just wanna open the battle pass and it takes me a bunch of time, also it has lots of bugs. And there are many many sections, like personalization, armor visor, and the in other section we have body and the prosthesis part, why don’t you put it in the same section?. Like section spartan and you can change the body, the armor, the prosthesis, the color etc.
So we would have sections,
Spartan
Vehicle
Guns
AI.
Or something like that
The UI was okay. It felt a little cluttered at times and some of the customization felt hard to understand in terms of what was being attached. That also could be based on my not spending dedicated time with is for more than 5 minutes so it might be nothing. Challenges are nice but I would like xp to be gained more than just challenges. And that may very well be a design and it wasn’t implemented for the flight. Overall though, a great first showing
-The horizontal menu for the customization could get very sloppy overtime, The vertical list UI is perfect. Halo reach, Halo 4, MCC are good examples
-The armor coating system is just awful, Especially with the 20 year history we had with primary and secondary colors . Let us customize the colors but keep any pattern, texture, weathering etc. that’s in the coating. Something similar to the recruit helmet in Halo 5 with the flame pattern or the many armors in Halo 5 that has unchangeable white patterns.
-Let us turn off our personal AI or just have the AI from ODST, if people don’t want contestant talking during the match. Also allow us the preview the voice for the Personal AI’s in the customization menu
-Include the Hide UI to all of the customization tabs, not just some. You can do something similar to Black Ops Cold War where the main menu UI disappears after a minute or 2 of inactivity
-Let us further customize our HUD. Give us the ability to move HUD elements around to our liking along with lowered or centered crosshair placement options.
-The X above players are too small
-Have the medals be more noticeable. The medals are way too small to a point where I question if I even get one when I get an overkill or killing spree. Do something similar to Halo 3/Reach
-Let us customize our emblems. You guys made the same mistake in Halo 5 and no one liked it as it takes away a part of player identity and customization
-We should be able to unlock both shoulders in the set in the battle pass. Having to unlock one piece seems unnecessary.
-Remove the timer on the Power weapons. Takes away the advantage of knowing when the weapon spawns.
-I understand the Outline system, but it takes away from the visual feedback from the shield and makes it feel I’m looking at the HUD not the player. My suggestion
>Keep the outline system but let us disable it. Have the teams be warm vs cold color (Similar to Rocket league) and let use pick armor coatings we have that fit the warm/cold colors. Or just add back RvB
>Keep the shields the yellow like the previous games or have it be an option for us.
