Infinite Tech Preview – UI & LIVE

  • Both in-game & in menus, the white text can be very hard to read against a white background. For example, the customization menu backdrop has warthog headlights, which interfere with any text in front of them. - After a multiplayer match, several challenge progress bars are displayed. However, the spacing is very tight, so each progress bar appears to be referring to the challenge above it, not below it. - On Halo Waypoint vNext in the Chrome browser, the performance is low. The main menu animation of the Chief’s helmet runs well, but the animation of my spartan in the armor customization menu is struggling & slows down scrolling the whole page. This is on a 2019 MacBook Pro laptop. - On the main menu, it is hard to remember where to look for each feature. Do i press Down Arrow, RB, or Start? There are 3 axes to explore. If you ever consider radically simplifying the main menu - for example into a simple list of categories like the Halo Combat Evolved main menu - then i would appreciate that. - I’m glad that i don’t find myself waiting for the menu to load like i did with Halo 5 (eg, the in-game REQ menu, which was sometimes on a spinner for 5 minutes). And i’m glad that i dont have to wait on a Connecting to Lobby screen every time i play. - I’m quite glad that the menu UI is much more responsive than the MCC’s, especially with the battle pass menu. Thanks for all the great work!

One other piece of feedbsck, it’d be nice to have the option to control how thick the outlines around Spartans are, as well as choose whether to have shield vfx be the same color as team color, or have the classic “electrical yellow” like the old games.

Slight improvement needed in lobby menu. Hard to tell if your friend is in your fire team. Can be clearer.

Audio issues when loading game and post game. Audio cuts out when queuing match and loading back in to lobby post game. Also had a time when low game audio was presented in game but effects level were normal.

In legacy button layout, legacy thumbstick and default are same

Screen calibration feature doesn’t seem to allow you to do anything

After unlocking helmet post match, image doesn’t show up

Purchasing credits, screen just shows balance

  • For PC, I found it a bit jarring that hitting escape repeatedly will not eventually bring you back to the home screen - especially coming from MCC and other services that this functionality is a norm in. - I’m curious about plans for eventual content bloat - in specific regards to the armour hall, I’m a bit concerned if this title is going to be the live service that we’ll be using for the foreseeable future, I’m a little worried that there will be too much time spent scrolling looking for your favourite pieces with just the singular horizontal bar. - Having voice previews for the AI types and body types would go a long way. - Being able to equip a coat for example, just by hovering over the item and pressing equip key rather than selecting the piece, then selecting the item I think will help in regards to overall simplicity. - Chromatic Aberration makes the game quite difficulty to read at a glance.

There probably will be a lot more challenges on release but maybe some xp gain out of them would be good.
I’m an old man gamer so might just not have realised how it worked but would have liked an opportunity to equip straight form pass or challenge completion screen without goign to customization. Also on the battle pass screen to see which item had something new in it
Medals and score need to be much more visible for me. Would also prefer the ammo grenade info etc to be larger or moved to top of screen at least.
The colour on scoreboard didn’t always allow to see the highlighted player details when against bright background in particular
Good job though -realkh enjoyed my few days playing it and looking forward to release

The technical preview was amazing, the only errors I found in xbox were that sometimes they kicked you out of the matches and in the menu the screen was blue on some occasions but it was just that, I am very grateful that you let me try the game and you can count on me for more flights.

Loved the preview! Here are some of my thoughts:

-When choosing an AI, have it say a quip line so we know what they sound like/what their personality is. If there is one already, I never heard it
-allow paint to be applied to prosthesis if wanted
-allow random selections for armor, coating, etc (for example clicking Random for the BR will spawn it with a random camo you have unlocked each time it picks up, same thing for say a Helmet it will randomly select one each game) can also do a favorites that it will randomize through

all in all, great game! Just some thoughts that I think would make it even better :+1:t2:

I really enjoyed the flight!

  • First thing my friends and I had to do was disable open mic as we were already in a discord call.
Would be nice if that had a little more priority in the audio settings category. - I was blown away by the LoD, but I had issues:
  • Identifying weapon spawn points when not knowing the maps. - Identifying weapons players were using from afar - Finding the weapon I wanted in a pile of slain players.

I found myself using the scanning feature a lot as that information was really difficult to discern given how dense the overall visual fidelity is.
I’d really appreciate an option to enable the scanning overlay at all times.
Writing this I feel like I come off as having bad vision in general, but this is not the case.

  • Would much prefer the coating list be organized into a grid instead of a 1 dimensional horizontal list.

Please add an option to toggle chromatic aberration for the actual game/3D environment, there’s only one for the UI.
You can only turn it off by switching Effects Quality to low.

I just want to let you know that what I’ve played in the technical beta, feels so good! I really enjoyed playing what you’ve made so far and if I had to list each item that I noticed and liked, you’d be reading for hours! So instead, lets stay with the short list:

  • Needs an exciting sound when buying battle pass - Never noticed when my battle pass level went up - I feel the “Scoreboard” needs to be bigger and bolder, also move to bumper menu - The “Season Progress” located in “Settings?” Maybe also move to bumper menu - Putting my bullseye on an enemy to mark that enemy could be difficult at times, to fix the issue just include a “double-click” up, anywhere on the map, to mark enemy anywhere and anytime.

Hi,
concerning the ui I find it unfortunate that the customization is not accessible from the start button like the other games,

I have looked for it several times. I find it unfortunate that we have to go back to the menu for the customization of the armor. the battle pass is not intuitive i noticed only 2 hours after that there was a consumable button.

for the store I find it classic it is possible to work on it again I think. the challenges are quite accessible and well translated into French :-),
added a warning message for the change of challenges (it uses a consumable) the rest and understandable for me

For bugs, I notice that certain parts of the menu take a long time to load, like customization. Another thing that I often notice is that customization thumbnails in the customize menu, the season pass, and store will disappear after playing my first match. They do not re-appear until I restart the game. When in the settings menu, while doing weapon drills, the screen flashes white every time I scroll through the settings.

For design, I find it somewhat difficult to navigate. The ui is formated differently for almost everything. For example. The main menu uses horizontal scrolling to get to customization, then to vertical to select what I am customizing, then back to horizontal to chose armor slots, the the icons move from the bottom to the top for some reason when I select something.

I would also like boosts to be a little more accessible. You have to go quite a few layers in to activate them or even see them.

Good morning 343i members, I hope and you are having a great time, today I come to give my Feedback regarding the battle pass and the store seen on this flight, honestly the content offered seemed extraordinary, in bugs that I observed within the section of Battle Pass, there is one in which some boxes of the pass are darkened and you cannot see the item inside the box, regarding the store I did not find any error on my part, it seemed excellent, I play from a Series X and the experience was really good.

The Battle Pass should be can be completed via playing the game and not only by completing challenges. It’s okay if challenges are the easy way to level up the pass but would be better if we recive an amount of xp depending on our performance in-game.

Battle pass NEEDS its own tab section in the menu. Also challenges should be easier to access, similar to apex, where a few are displayed on the Home Screen and the press of a button can take to the entire list.

I also wanted to give some of my impressions on this amazing tech preview.

In terms of UI, I would like to see some elements a bit improved if it is possible :

  • There doesn’t seem to be a direct way in the game to mute some players, so it would be great to have that option when players can become very loud at times. The ping system is a very nice addition though. - Having several options to identify our teammates during matches, like having their nametags/gamertags above their avatar. - Being able to better see the medals. For the rest, I was quite pleased with the Battle Pass system, as I didn’t feel like I had to struggle to find it. It is also a nice touch to be able to swap challenges when you feel like some are a bit troublesome for you. The only issue I had was that some items were not appearing when you wanted to see what you would earn on the next level in the Battle Pass menu.

I also forgot that it would be nice to earn XP for the Battle Pass depending on your performance in matches, and not just through challenges.

The Store is not overloaded as well, and you can see clearly what you can buy.

Other than that, there isn’t much I can think of that was really problematic for me. I really enjoyed this preview very much and I am awaiting for what comes next.

I have only played the Tech Preview on Xbox Series X:

  • The presentation of the Battle Pass and Store items were boring, dull, not appealing, looking not polished… Look at how Battlefield or Call of Duty present their items… Large, flashy, polished, and professionally presented. - The actual selection of items in the battle pass was really baaad. Battle pass should scratch the itch of playing more to get to those items. If these were a good sample of the items we would see in the finished game, they wouldn’t honestly give me any motivation to care about the Battle pass - The progression of Battle Pass was slower than I was expecting. With the XP Boost and bonus challende XP, still it felt like a chore - The UI was also terrible… Gray tones all over… Boring… Hardly visible buttons at the top. Trying to navigate from one place to another was not intuitive.

Photos of armor pieces in the armor hall would be smaller than the box they were put in and would be surrounded with a fuzzy image.
Sometimes the photo for the playlist would not show up
Calling cards for the bots would never load. It would just be a pink box with the bots name in it
Might not be a bug but the daily items in the store never changed throughout the test preview
In the lobby menus, the controller inputs would be replaced with keyboard prompts. This would also cause the controller to put in wrong inputs on the lobby too

I have a suggestion: can we see the health of the enemy who killed while I wait for a respawn and that the announcer reads off every medal that you receive such as Cluster Luck which does not have a voice line from the announcer

Here’s some feedback I have about XP via the battlepass and coatings:

  • Xp should be earned for completing games. Challenges should not be the only way to earn XP, since challenges can glitch out, you can blow through them, and shouldn’t give the player virtually no reason to play if they aren’t progressing towards something. - All cadet/recruit coatings should have the same color pattern. i.e cadet blue has no black trim on the visor. - Hope there are more variations of the basic colors for darker/more dull color variations.

I think it is not so intuitive, sometimes i changed something by accident.
Maybe the armor personalization should be vertical, while the battle pass might be horizontal.
That is my opinion about the UI
