I’ve been having a really hard time reviewing the scoreboard after a match. The white letters on light gray are difficult to read. I wish that there was someway to either change the color scheme or to increase the darkness of the background. I’ve tried tweaking the opacity of the UI but that either doesn’t appear to affect the scoreboard when not in a match or maybe my eyes are just getting old and tired. Also, I would prefer that the navigation controls for the menu behind the scoreboard to be disabled while navigating the post-match carnage.
My biggest complaint has probably been the armor / weapon skin customization menu.
I’m not sure exactly how to fix it, but on PC it felt tedious to have to click a ton of times and scroll slowly through a horizontal bar to find a coating I want to apply to an armor core. Or for some reason having to click twice on a weapon to actually get to the weapon’s coating selection menu.
Also not having a click or double-click to apply and having to hit ‘F’ to apply was annoying.
How do you get the game because I haven’t been told how to get it
I thought that the Live aspects were pretty well put together. I liked the ability to swap out challenges and to essentially buy out a Battle Pass with credits. I imagine that the items that we could not unlock were due to the Battle Pass only going to 20 instead of 30. I wish that the challenge swap item also worked on the daily challenge as well. Perhaps you might consider including a smaller capstone for completing a week of daily challenges like how Pokemon Go does their Research. Once you complete 7 daily challenges, you would probably get a consumable item or maybe some credits instead of an armor customization unlock.
My only qualm with the store was a lack of options. I opted for buying the Battle Pass, unlocked a few levels naturally, and then bought it out with the rest of my credits.
In-game UI feels pretty good to me. Various menus were a little confusing however, but I started to get the hang of it. Some of my biggest takeaways from the test were the following:
- Either allow us to turn down the view bobbing/screen shaking when sprinting, or tone it down a bit. I had screen shake on 0% and I still felt like my screen was shaking/vibrating when sprinting. - I feel that the medals could be a bit larger. I know they’re close to the crosshair so they’re easier to see, but I still think they’re entirely too small. - In audio options, maybe add a dedicated section for player voice related audio? I kept trying to disable voice chat (my settings would reset upon closing the game periodically), and there’s multiple “voice volume” settings, which could definitely confuse people. I know the descriptions explain them, but it’s definitely something I can see people being confused about. - Customization menu is one of the most confusing/hard to navigate parts of the UI. Other people here have voiced some of my concerns already, but what it boiled down to for me was ease of getting from one place to another, as well as actually knowing which menu each customization option was behind. Also, having to click on a coating and then press a button to equip it, as opposed to just clicking the coating seems like an unnecessary extra step. - Need to add the option to unbind a key on mouse and keyboard. - Maybe a nitpick, but a couple of my friends thought it was odd that you couldn’t see what your 2nd grenade type was unless you switched to it.
Just a quick thought. I would like to see colorblind features affect the hit direction indicators, or maybe a separate setting to individually change the hit detection color. I love the ability to change the outlines to a color I can see but none of the options affected the red hit direction indicators. Great flight and I had tons of fun!!
One thing I had found in the battle pass store was the helmet with the attachment for 900 cR the helmet was correct on the one with no attachment, but the attachment shown in the store was put on the default helmet not the helmet being purchased.
The XP Boost shouldn’t be purely time based. If I activate it and something comes up where I have to take a quick break, then I feel like I’m wasting it. Plus, with XP currently being only for challenges, it’s possible there’s only one game after 3-4 where I earn XP. The boost should apply for a set number of games in which you earn reasonable XP (if regular play eventually gets you XP, then there should be a min bar so leavers don’t negatively impact your Boost).
So before I begin. I wanted to say that you guys are doing a great job and that I’ve been very impressed with what I have seen so far. Now here are my criticisms of the UI
-
Bring back the classic Halo CE ammo counters. They just look so much cooler.
-
UI is too small and hard to make out. Especially for my dad who has bad eyesight. U should give the player the option to change the UI size and opacity.
-
When looking at equipment, it is hard to tell what is what. They should be labelled when you look at them cuz a grappling hook and a threat sensor look almost exactly the same till you pick it up.
-
Overshield and cloak indicators are too similar. You gave both a yellow indicator when one should be blue and the other yellow.
-
When holding the grappling hook, you should have an indicator on the crosshair that tells you when you can or cant fire it at a surface. It’s pretty annoying when you try to grapple a surface mid combat only to get killed because the surface was only slightly too far away.
Otherwise, I’ve been very impressed with this game. Thanks for listening and keep up the good work!
First off, I would really like to say how much I have enjoyed this experience on both PC and my Series X. 343, you have done a great job so far and I cant wait to see the finished product. With that being said I would my biggest issues with the UI in this flight was…
- Having the ammo gun/nades/ammo counter in the bottom right rather than the top right of the screen. As a halo player since Halo 2 thats what I have become so familiar with and constantly find myself looking at the wrong location now because of that. - I would also like to see the more original multikill emblems return with their original colors and patterns rather than the new ones. Example would be the double kill medal being yellow, the triple kill medal being that light blue, and etc. - I also had visual trouble when telling if another player/bot was one shot. Being able to tell wether somebody is one shot is a big factor in halo. If you go back to Halo 3 for example, the lights on the spartan would help indicate how low a players health was and would let you make the decision if you were going to engage in that fight or not.

There already is an indicator in the middle of the crosshair that shows up for the grapple hook if you’re able to use it in the spot you look at. Granted it’s really tiny and a yellow X.
The post game carnage report is a step backwards from previous games. Please include tool of destruction, most killed/killed by, and a way to see all players stats in chart format. I’m looking for feature parity with MCC.
Settings :
-
Some settings reset when restarting the game and some even per matches - Unable to unassing a key in keybind (the only way is to use the key for another action - Make default zoomed sensitivity the same as default sensitivity. otherwise it’s weird.UI :
-
For customization, make each section a list (helmet, coating, visor…) and for highlited section, higligth the section on the armor itself - Once in the section, make the navigation easier between items (I assume there will be hundreds of item, do not make us scroll through everyting) - Scrolling through the different weapon is fastidious as well, present them in a grid with the ingame icon outline and the when selected show the 3D model - Same for the vehicules - When selecting postesis , make it preview before selecting it - Make some preview of the I.A. voices before choosing oneBattlepass :
-
All seems good, only way to progress is challenges but I assume its not the ony way - XP boost is a little unfair. What if the game crash or internet is down. Make the XP boost use time ingame or per match use.Waypoint:
-
to few things tested for good feedback - But same feedback as customization, make a grid and not one line to scroll through - Change voice is a thing ? Make preview asweel to hear what it souds like
UI was interesting for me. When I first started the game it took a second but every image loaded in properly. After playing a bot game I would come back to the main menu and none of the images would load correctly for the battlepass or menus. I couldn’t see the items or anything. It also said I could buy the battlepass after I had already purchased it. Definitely a good foundation. Just needs some tweaks.
A list of my feedback (playing on Xbox one X):
- the score screen also highlight number of deaths as ‘better than your usual’ - the UI is a bit of a mess, it’s not intuitive, there are menus hidden in submenus in submenus. I have to press so many buttons to do anything in the menus and search around on the screen which ones to press. The flow is really bad. - the preview images of armor pieces and challenge swaps didn’t load in when looking at the BP or when levelling up - I activated XP boosts but couldn’t see the timer in the main screen, I had to search for it in some deep hidden submenu - when navigating menus in weapon drills, the screen kept flashing to first person view holding the weapon of the previous weapon drill - the “start matchmaking” option was still available when I was already loading into a new match and checking last match stats - checking attachments on helmets resets the view to front and relights the scene, that’s annoying - the option “buy the BP” remained available the whole weekend, although I had already purchased the BP upon first login - I’d like to be able to zoom in on my spartan while customizing, not just turning him around - I’d like to hear a preview of the personal AI so I don’t have to load into a match to hear their voice/character - sometimes on first loading in the first person view model a hitmarker appears the first frame (both in weapon drills and bot matches) - the “Hello Goodbye” grenade tip that shows up on death said “press to” but there was no icon of a button (on controller Recon layout) - it seems the only way to get xp is by completing challenges or buying levels for the BP? Why can’t we level up the BP any ohter way by just playing? - I’d like to see if crossplatform is enabled, and which platform teammates are playing on, (PC/xbox/one/X/seriesX), and/or see their input method (mouse&keyboard/controller)
The UI is a little messy, it’s kinda hard to navigate sometimes, like I think prosthesis and UI should be in Armor Hall, and maybe considered vertical display. You should also have a lowered crosshair option
Overall, the UI just seemed a little buggy/non-functional/clunky by design. Going into customize armor types, it took me a minute to realize that you had to actually equip the item with a dedicated button, which feels a bit needless.
Having the prosthesis not in your armor customization seemed a little weird/needless, there could very well just be a place in the “Armor Hall” for prosthesis and personal AI customization. Also, not having at least a test line of dialogue present when selecting the personal AI made it all a very trial and error process to find one that I liked/wasn’t annoying.
I think the UI is likely going to need a pretty large overhaul when it comes to player customization, especially if we are actually expecting 10 years of content from Halo Infinite. Even a year or two from launch, customization could very quickly become an over-cluttered mess. I think the customization in MCC was lot more simple/streamlined.
And lastly, which may just be a small thing for me, but armor coatings seem really tedious as a way of customizing your spartan. It would be nice if could choose basic primary/secondary colors, and then armor coatings are things that go a bit outside of the standard primary/secondary, rather than having to unlock basic color combinations
The UI needs a lot of work for sure, but it’s not a final product so I won’t pound on it. Just to name a few things that I think might carry on to the final product but need reconsideration:
- Don’t use horizontal list in the customization screen. It’s hard to navigate and sort. - Let us preview AI sound and scripts in the customization tab - Armor coating is a poor design. Very difficult to know how my Spartan will look like before applying. Also it’d be better to sort the coating with the color temperature. - The flow after match is super weird. Why should I back out all the way to the main menu to customize and inspect the challenge? That’s like 3 more button press. Let us customize whenever we want like in Halo 5.
If I could change anything in the UI it would be what I posted earlier on xbox feedback. I’d like to see the ability to change Rader color separate from the shields and outlines. Or perhaps allow the player to have there own color separate from team. Reason being is I really enjoyed being red, but it would confuse me sometimes on Rader due to the fact other Halos always saw enemies on Rader as red.

It’d be wonderful to have an option to turn on this kind of stuff for your HUD in Infinite, it really adds to that “futuristic soldier in a supersuit” feel, at least for me. As I said, an option, so that people who don’t care for the clutter are able to turn it off.

Agreed, and agreed! I will say that the likely reason for lack of physical elements, fluff-wise, is helmets probably have a camera system that fills in the areas of vision that are blocked by non-visor parts of the helmet. Kinda like what we see when Doom Slayer puts his helmet on in DOOM 2016.
