I think there should be an option to change the scoreboard from being a toggle, to a hold like the previous games. Toggling to see the scoreboard just doesnt feel as quick and snappy as holding down the button/key to me, you’d also be able to return to gameplay much quicker.
Doesn’t do anything upon launching the game…insanely frustrating

Do keep in mind this is a pre-Beta build. It’s going to be broken, and what we need to do is report where and how it broke, and what steps to take in order to replicate the problem so it can be fixed for the final build.

There is an option in the menu, unfortunately it’s currently bugged and resets once you leave the menu
There should be an option to have your reticle and hit markers be always be red (or customize your own reticle color) no matter what type of enemy team you’re aiming at. I feel like having it blue when you’re aiming at blue team or yellow when you’re aiming at a yellow team really throws people off at times. Minor issue but one I thought was worth mentioning.
Here are some rounded up general thoughts that I’ve come up with after a few hours of seat time
- Really liking both the out-of-match UI and HUD. Only gripe is there are multiple occasions where I forgot there was a separate “play” button outside of selecting the playlist. Very likely just something I’m experiencing and have to get used to on my own, but it could be a point to bring up to the UI/UX teams.
- Battle Pass and Challenge system are really smooth. Very easy to navigate and understand. Could see this making it into live product with no significant tweaks needed.
- I’m not receiving any sort of XP for completing a match, but I am from challenges. Likely a flight-specific thing, but I figured I’d bring it up just in case it is a bug.
- The store is a store. Nothing bad to say. Easy to process everything that’s going on.
- It would be great if we could access customization and store from the same screen without having to go back through menus to get there. I know that once you queue, matchmaking happens in the background and you’re free to navigate through the menus, it just took a while for me to realize that.
One final thought
- It would be cool if we get to keep the cosmetics we get in this flight at launch. Nice little token for those who got to participate in the flight.
Can you not have 2 sets of grenades anymore? I remember when you could have regular grenades and a second set of plasmas or spike grenades and be able to switch between the 2. Is infinite going to have this this feature or already does and I’m missing something?

> Not a fan of only progressing through challenges, once you run out, your capped for the day. A few on twitter have brought up a good point about not being able to catch up if you have several battle passes to go through if your a new player and can only earn like maybe 1 level a day. Unless the number of daily challenges increases, once you complete the weekly challenges the xp boosts become fairly useless because depending on the length of the boost you can only get like maybe 2 challenges done with it and that depends on what the challenge you get entails.

> Aside from balancing/increasing payouts/number of challenges available, I would say look at MCC’s current system, it’s amazing, the better you play the more xp you earn and completing challenges buffs that up. (Not an MCC thread but if I can throw out here and say the reward for leveling in MCC is, well non existant past the first 100 levels, but I digress at least it gets my monke brain going)
Just gonna second this so I don’t make a whole other post about it. I agree that we need some form of base progression system based on performance that isn’t tied to strictly challenges.

Ah I see, thank you for clarifying that
Daily challenges have completely stopped showing up for me last night, nothing today.

Understandable. I click on the launch icon and a box pops up witht the Halo ring and just stays there

How do you get access to the beta app?
Voice chat (important features missing)
Voice chat needs some work. Whenever halo releases and more casual players joins in, a lot of people will start playing with music or speaking with somebody in the room. Instead of muting the whole party, it would be nice to be able to mute individually those “disturbing” the match. Yet…
-
During a match, it is very difficult to know who is talking. - I haven’t found any option to mute individual spartans, only to mute the whole voice chat. Also… It happened to me that I did not notice that I was unmuted and I started singing (I’m extremely sorry to those that had to hear me…). So I think it is also important to include the following feature to avoid situations like that:
-
UI indication in-match that you have the mic open or you are talking right now.
Battle Pass and Challenges (nice to have features)
I could live with it, but I’m not a fan of the battle pass and challenges menu. I am expecting to check and swap challenges quite a lot, yet they are quite hidden ( Y button, down d-pad two times, A button ). -
Show a list of challenges on the home screen, with a dedicated button to open the swap feature. - Battle Pass button will then open the tier-list of rewards. This would make it easier to find forthcoming rewards (and potentially lead more people into buying the battle pass?)Also, some challenges require making specific actions during a match (“Kill a Spartan with a back attack”, “Kill 10 spartants with a commando rifle”), but you have to wait until the end of the match to see progress.
-
Could we make it so significant challenge milestones are shown during a match? ( 50%, completed )
Besides the above points, I think the UI works fine. I have only encountered some minor bugs, such as assets (item icons / previews) sometimes not showing. But this was already commented on Thursday’s live stream.

I think this point is extremely important. I don’t mind progressing through challenges (the whole battle pass model is designed so that you don’t have to grind levels on a short time), but value of xp boosts is almost zero. They will be seen as battle pass fodder or a extremely bad monetization element.

Completely agree with everything stated here.
In addition, I think it would be an excellent idea to separate outline colour and shield colour. When the enemy outline is red, their shields are also red. Even the overshield is red, which is super confusing when the overshield pickup is yellow. Separating outline colour and shield colour would allow for better distinction between outlines and shields, and make it more clear when someone has an overshield applied. For example, I like the red outline, but I would prefer having enemy shields be yellow just so shield effects/ breaks are more visible and clear.

Hit left on the D-Pad to swap grenades. You can only carry 2 of two types (e.g. 2 Frag, 2 Spike)
Allow us to access the customization menus from anywhere with RB. It’s somewhat confusing to have to go all the way back to the root menu in order to access customization options. It also allows us to change our spartan while waiting for a game.
Also unless I missed something when I used an XP boost, there were no visual indicators that I had a boost active outside of the battle pass menu. This led to it running out and I didn’t know it. Could yall add a timer outside of the battle pass menu to quickly see how much time we have left on a boost.
Don’t know if this belongs here, but would it be possible to have the option for coatings to apply to prostheses? I just think it would be a really cool addition especially with a coating like scorpion punch where if you have a right arm prosthetic you can only see red on the shoulder. Also could you allow us to have some armor like hand plating to be shown on prosthetics. If we have both robotic arms, that’s 3 different things that are hidden with the robotic arms (potentially coating, wrist, and hand armor hidden). Also could you let us rotate our spartan in the Body & AI customization menu, would allow us to see the different options much easier.
That covers my thoughts for right now, will post more with more thoughts later. Keep up the great work yall!
Edit: Let us spin the view when we die like every other Halo game. I like being able to look at my spartan from different angles while it’s ragdolled on the ground.
Also in the shop and battle pass, can you have our spartan show up as the preview for coatings, visors, armor, etc. It’d be nice to be able to see what a certain costomization would look like on my spartan before buying it.
Flight Issues I’ve Experienced So Far:
- Load-in timer background occasionally turned black - If you back out to the main menu, it sometimes doesn’t show your Spartan standing, it’s just a still screen of a different sceneq. (Or it’s sometimes the right screen with your character not there) If you try to load into a game when this happens, it’ll sometimes kick you back out and loads the correct screen. - At the end of a game, team scores don’t show up - Have a loading screen that isn’t black (could make the black load in screen an image of the map we’re loading into) - Looses connection to the server easily (mainly during the black loading screen) - When sliding, your view gets blocked by your legs occasionally - Clambering occasionally throws you off the object you attempt to get on top of or over. (Happens whenever you turn slightly) - Unable to easily do crouch jumps in multiplayer. - Clambering needs better leniency with the distance you clamber on objects from. (Should increase the distance a little) - Increase the sprint speed slightly so it’s not the same as walking speed. - Aim assist needs to be added in to be balanced. (When console players eventually go against PC players it won’t be balanced) - Players characters are sometimes positioned at weird angles when shown in end of match podium
I feel like the system of making xp be exclusive to challenges disincentivizes continued play. It also makes it so that the xp booster consumable either goes unused or is just wasted. I would recommend the Halo 5 system of per-match xp and boosters to keep people playing even when they run out of challenges to advance.
I think we should be able to mute players from the score board by pressing View button and then X like in old Halos.
I would like to see both of my grenades at the UI side by side.
Other than that I like it.
I did just notice in my last game that I was able to carry 2 Dropwalls. Don’t know if that was intentional or not, but it’s quite useful
