Infinite Tech Preview – UI & LIVE

On the main screen where you’re able to press “Y” to view the season pass and challenges progress you should add the ability to activate the XP boost and other consumables there instead of having to go to the season pass page.

Have the ability to change the color of the crosshair separately from the enemy UI color.

How would folks feel about it if the Infinite overshield and camo pickups each got an aesthetic change to make them look like smaller interpretations of the classic cube and pyramid (while retaining the current gameplay functionality)?

There are several buttons that don’t appear to work in the UI/menus.

“Map Details” and “Mode Details” when under the maps and modes section doesn’t appear to do anything.
“Lore” button doesn’t do anything for me and just takes me back to the “equip” (?) button. I’m not sure what Lore is supposed to do.

In some places, the “back” and button on the bottom of the screen don’t show up anymore, leading me to guess what button will take me back to the main menu, etc., This happens when accessing the weapons bench.

Also the button indicators throughout the menu don’t change to the xbox controller buttons when navigating with an xbox controller (like they do in MCC). Changing this would be super clear. I’m playing on PC with a bluetooth xbox controller.

Not really a fan of the UI as it currently stands it’s too plain for my liking.

The music just randomly stops too.

The battle pass is good and I think it’s a good way to go.

Onto the settings.

I feel there are some key things missing. Like Different aiming presets like in MCC classic and Modern and also the same with the crosshair lowered and centre.

All in all this is a fantastic game but it could do with some work.

About the battle pass credits and the store. The store should have weapon skins and coatings, not armor pieces. Also, the store should be real cash only. Credits should be for buying armor attachments etc. We shouldn’t be forced to pay real cash for attachment unlocks. Also, the battle pass should level for time spent in matches. it shouldn’t be locked just to challenges.

the user interface is very cluttered,

  • The UI was simple, clean, and visually appealing; however, I do feel some elements could be hard to navigate for newcomers. It took me a bit to find the Battle Pass screen and the Challenges screen at first. I feel like Multiplayer menus for matchmaking could use a minor navigational rework as well. The Armor Hall and Academy screens seemed excellent! The UI on the screen is very well-made in-game, and I feel that it has just the right amount of information about everything you need in battle. I want to point out that a UI concept I enjoyed from Halo 5: Guardians is how I could access all the customization menus, REQ menus, Settings, etc., by simply pressing the Menu button on my Xbox controller from anywhere.Edit:

  • For retail launch, I hope to see challenges offered for both PvE and PvP, because some people don’t like doing one or the other and that allows for equal opportunity in progression. I personally enjoy both, but this has always been a feature I wanted in other non-Halo games. There has to be balancing though, so, for example, if I have to kill 25 brutes in campaign mode, that would probably equal 5 Spartans in PvP. Additionally, I hope that there is always a method of earning progression on the Season / Battle Pass and it doesn’t solely rely on completing challenges.Thank you for the opportunity to test! Have fun, everyone.

Would it be possible to have UI color toggles beyond just “friendlies/enemies?”

I’d love, for example, to have shields all show as yellow; enemies with a red outline, and yellow friendly outlines.

I think you need a way to earn xp other than challenges. Having completed the capstone challenge, I now only get 1 challenge at a time, usually something like complete 4 matches. Getting 100 xp every 4 matches feels like an agonizingly slow way to progress the battle pass.

Either points are based on the percentage of health you took, or 25pts for minor (1-33% health), 50 for assist (34%-66%) and 75 pts major assist (67%-99%)

> Happened to me today on the 1st map where the bots rush flank on the left. I threw all my grenades then teammate cleaned up for the overkill. I think kills should be rewarded fully to whoever did it tho…as infuriating and unjust as it sometimes is for one of your own teammates. Btw I ended up with more kills than him in the end anyway.

I agree that the kill should go to the person who killed the player, it would just be nice if the person who did the majority of the damage was given more points than the basic 50. I need to feel rewarded for doing all that damage.

Menu navigation and interaction needs a little more work. When you’re on the main screen it can be difficult to tell if the tab is currently set to matchmaking, customization, or store. It would be better suited to have the current tab highlighted a different color.

As far as the xp boosts and challenge swaps are concerned, I feel like there should be a more direct way to activate them. Currently there is too much time wasted navigating screens to get to the boost menu.

Has anyone else found that the battle pass item tiles are sometimes all blank?

Game crashed when grappling a weapon when teammate picks it up.
When spawn into firing range legs are frozen in place.
When looking down legs look to be detached

There needs to be an obvious link between the battle pass screen and the customization screen - when you unlock something you want to be able to see what it looks like, and interact with it right there, instead of having to back out and find it in a different menu.

We’re also missing any sort of tactile, clicky way of claiming the stuff we unlock. Not only will that help people notice that they got something, but also give an extra little reward to our lizard brains.

Instead of unlocks just appearing mysteriously in the armor hall without players even noticing it, the experience should be:
“Oh, I got something, go to the battlepass, oh its a cool armor coating, I’ll claim it *pop-click-fizz-ahhh”, now I can see what it looks like on my Spartan, and if I want, equip it right from here" - - All between matches without backing out into another menu!

There absolutely needs to be a way to preview an AI voice. They talk a lot in game but in the menus there is no way (that I see) to preview the voice.

capstone challenge for killing 50 spartans not updating correctly. Anyone else having this issue?

In the social tab, when you select a player, the “player options” pane is shown. The status info there is laid out unintuitively, with “Online/Offline” on the left, greyed out, and grouped with other grey labels.

It can be improved by making “Status” a label for “Online/Offline”, and moving “Online/Offline” to the right to be with the other info.

Mock-up image:

I noticed the area where your dog tags is the color goes in and out and the whole area goes in and out.

If we could arrange the color of the crosshair and the blips on the mini map - that would just be amazing. I like the yellow for shields but I dont care for having a yellow crosshair and enemy blip. It would be awesome if we could spend credits to get more challenges and therefore get more exp. I also hope there will be away to get the currency to buy things in the store in game. Like how destiny 2 has bright dust which you can get in game to buy things in the store. Also I REALLY hope you guys get the waypoint app working before the game goes live. You have to jump though hoops to use it on android phones, like i tried to get it to work clearing cashe and all that but im not just gonna bother.

I had the same issue. It would only update by a fraction of the actual kills I got per game.

It’d be nice if we had the ability to change player, allies, and enemy shield colors. While I do like the yellow (classic) shield pop, I don’t like that I have to change the entire enemy UI (scoreboard, team color, dots on radar, etc.).

My other suggestion is that they shorten the part of the shield pop animation where they have a silhouette, it lasts a bit too long. (From my research, it stays for about ~17 frames) Imo, it should only stay for the first 6 frames. I just recently made a more in-depth post on Reddit with pictures of each frame.
