- Customization - the weapon wheel in the customization option feels good. I like the preview, the space, the way it all looks. But choosing and navigating even just weapons skins seems unnecessarily tedious. Every attachable/swappable component of a weapon or vehicle should be grouped with items of similar rarity and be broken up into blocks to represent them. One continuous line with filter options is too much, for no real benefit. The same goes for armor. A line of things is just not quick, smooth, or easy - Lobby UI - the lobby UI for the multiplayer matches is also unnecessarily complicated. There is no need to show my Emblem/Banner/Name on the bottom next to the menu buttons. I’m in my fireteam, I know what my stuff says already. The menu button indicators on the bottom right are redundant. Make them less obvious. Post-Game: if you’re already going to make a very large table of what my stats were, put up everybody’s and make the whole after-action report one page. It should not be a team page, and a personal page, and a previous match page. Make the top right stats( game time etc.) more prominent. Just make one single after-action table page, get rid of the multiple layers of detail - Main Menu UI - the background change from “Play” to “Customize” to “Shop” is unnatural. Give each their own background (with a smoother transition) or make them all have the same standard “spartan in front of pelican” background. The “News” indicator is soooo big, and I’m sure it’s just for the Technical Preview but it takes up so much of the screen for no reason. - Audio - the menu tick noise when you move the selector is a little loud and little annoying. The heavy weapons (sniper in particular) are very very loud when fired (when compared to the other weapons), but they do not seem to match the same noise level when you hear them in third party. Lower the volume when firing, imo. - Visual - beautiful game so far. Remove the outer lines on the sidekick zoom in. Visually counterproductive. The Dead respawn screen does not need the respawn timer right dead center in the middle. Put it where the name/location/“spectating” portion is and get rid of that part. Too much going on for a respawn screen. I want to be able to change my reticle color. - Gameplay - The spawn weapons have an indicator bar over them to indicate how close they are to ready, but imo it’s too hard to quickly evaluate in passing how ready a weapon is. And even harder from further away. If it was a more visual “filling up” on the weapon, it would make more sense. Start from the bottom, the holographic visuals fills all the up to the top and then the weapon is ready. OR simply make the current weapon bar a more obvious color than generic blue. - Challenges - their ok for now I guess. Weekly challenges should probably have a bit more length to them. - Battle Pass - PLEASE make the ranks slider better. The indicator should travel from the far left to the far right, then moving more right slides the next set of ____ ranks over into view, with the option to skip the next one w/ RB (or platform equivalent). The constant sliding after the indicator hits the middle of the screen is nauseating. The icons and text are all very big, if everything was smaller, there would be room for me to see my whole spartan. If I have already “purchased” the battle pass, there should not be a “Buy Battle Pass” visual in the bottom left. Once again, remove the entirety of the bottom right gray rectangle, it all looks so out of place there. - For some reason, I can rotate my Spartan in the Battle Pass visual but not in the “Body and AI” tab? That seems silly - The Text Chat box is so big and I can discern no easy way to make it go away while in menu or in game. Maybe you can get rid of the extra “X - Season Pass” thing and tie Text Chat to X so it’s an easy toggle on/off, at least in menu. - Roster should be it’s own tab up top with Play/Customize/Shop - Control Panel - should not include News, Season Progress, or Last Match Results. Why? You already have in UI options for all of those, tied to inputs. Take them out of the menu, leaving only Settings, Support, and Credits. Tbh, News should also be it’s own tab at the top and Patch Notes should be included there as well. - Settings - There does not currently seem to be a keybind for toggling voice chat while in game, for xbox. I may just be missing it though. There should be at the very least a basic description for some of the settings in Video/Audio/UI. For instance, I have played games with Bloom and Chromatic Aberration before, so I know what those are. But the average player will not, like I do not know what Parallax is, or if I want it applied as a visual effect. Little descriptors please. Can we get a static preview window next the Weapon Offset section? I don’t know what my weapon will actually look like until I see it in game, and changing it on the fly seems troublesome. Would be very helpful. It seems as though quite a lot of “Accessibility” and “UI” cover the same topics, they could probably be combined into one tab. - Things I really like/enjoy: the battle pass indicator top right of menu screen, the loading bar at the bottom with the player count and percentage, although the color is a little “in your face” and also doesn’t mesh well with the red "cancel’ option on the right. All the adjustment bars in settings feel very good.
I very much enjoy the art style of the new HUD. The radar looks great and everything is super clean and clear.
Menu UI is nice, but it can be a bit of a rummage to find things.
For instance, would like to see the consumables be offered at a single button press. Like the BattlePass. I know the BP can get you to Consumables, but the first time I wanted to stick one on, I didn’t know that and spent ages digging around. Maybe it would be enough to have an option in the BattlePass popup (“Y” on the main screen), rather than having to go further into the BP?
It’s fine now I know my way around. But I imagine newer players would struggle as I did.
In game, I have noticed several times In matches, the lower left hand scroller for kills/medals sometimes flashes a black box on transitions.
While I enjoy it for the most part, I feel like it’s cluttered at times and there are too many options in the settings, another issue I had, which may just be me but I couldn’t tell which color option affected the look of the enemy’s shields, I also feel as though there are too many sensitivity options when you could make it so it’s a normal sensitivity and a zoomed one, or if people do want a different sensitivity for each zoom it could be a drop-down menu after picking an option for a more advanced sensitivity setting
There should be the ability to scale the main menu UI horizontally and vertically just like it lets you do with the in game UI. Some of the text and the buttons are cut off on my tv in the main menu.
-
Not a huge problem, but I’ve noticed on the Challenges screen the first listed weekly challenge has a yellow portion included in the blurred background which can make a portion of the text hard to read.
-
Also I have noted that on the main menu screen, the box on the bottom right (which shows gamertag, emblem and current lobby etc) does just randomly disappear on occasion. I haven’t figured out the exact steps to replicate this.
-
After navigating through a number of the top three menu items, sometimes the ‘Store’ tab has the tiles but does not display a preview of the items listed in each of the boxes. It is simply a coloured background.
Overall I really like the look and feel of the UI.
- The UI looks fine but customization will be a pain to navigate when we have more armor and coatings, etc - Customization feels laggy - You should be able to reach customization from the start menu so you don’t have to go all the way back to the main menu and then go into customization - No way to level up besides challenges, finished every challenge but I’m only at level 8. Does not feel good to finish challenges and have no other way to progress. Gives you a sense of, “well I’m done playing for the day since I cant unlock anything else”. Feels like the Apex or Magic Arena passes. Hoping this changes for sure!
Please turn off UI lines. This new way is so confusing. Im red team shooting at blue team but blue team has red out line. There’s red on my motivation sensor but that my team because I’m red team. It’s confusing me to no end. Getting frustrated and logging off. Give me an option to turn this off or I can’t continue to play.
Update 2
11- getting zoomed out of the commando when hit is very clunky
12- loot being randomized on levels is very confusing. One time playing active camo spawned, and other times it was overshield.
Mi locutor e IA no se escuchan en partida
No beep beep beep BOOP when a game is starting. That’s a big issue right there.
Would be nice to see like a photo that represents your weapon offset when changing them in the settings menu
el locutor y la IA no se escuchan son prácticamente todos los que tienen el idioma español
The UI needs some work, feels to outdated and need more of a Halo touch. Settings menu need more clean up and touch. For each setting, there needs to be a detailed description or pictures showing or explaining what each setting does.
Customizing your Spartan should be available while you are searching up a game i.e MCC. Shouldn’t have to return to the menu to customize. The shop is perfect and clean!
Game movement feel somewhat heavy, especially when sprinting. I feel as if my player model is sinking into the ground when in action. Aim assist is almost gone, but not going to lie I love it. It helps improve my accuracy and aim skills. Some weapons need a buff some need a nerf.
The bots are amazing! You guys are probably the only dev team that made a great AI system. Way better than Halo 5 and any other game I’ve played. I get a challenge now.
I’m really enjoying this game overall. One of the best betas I’ve ever played. The launch of it was horrible, but not y’all’s fault. A lot of us were logging on and flooding the servers but y’all fixed it at the end.
You guys at 343i are doing great on this build. Could be y’all’s Halo 3. Can’t wait until this game get polished and smoothed out.
Music choice is Amazing!
Also we get to reached y’all’s goal during this Tech Preview. I want some Social Arena
The “Fireteam” option for player outlines doesn’t seem to be working. I have it set to Mint Green for my fireteam members, yet it still displays as Blue, which is what my friendly team color is set to
INFINITE TECH PREVIEW – UI FEEDBACK
(Battle Pass) - XP Consumables: Please change XP boosts from beening active while browsing menus or waiting for matchmaking a.k.a pause while not in active gameplay (Battlefield 4 does this) and it makes me feel like I am getting the most out of my paid consumables.
Also please make it easier to find the remaining time left on active consumables as well as how to activate them. (Make it more obvious)
Loving the Tech Flight. Just a few points from playing and testing Menus/Store.
armour customisation, it would be great if when selecting an armour piece there was an option to equip all pieces from the same armour type in the inspect menu.
The button prompt for the BattlePass UI need to be Larger or Bolder. Non OLED screens make it more difficult to see what the button letter due to backlighting.
Kill Badges should be a bit larger too, seems less of a reward for hitting them because they’re so small.
As others have mentioned: collapsible menus for the settings may help it feel less clutter, simple vs advanced settings toggle would be good too.
I would definitely like the option to lower the crosshair and have the ammo counter up top, it feels unnatural. Only real complaints I have with the game so far (aside from replacing the shotgun, but that’s a discussion for another forum)

> During the next flight, can you please a supply more credits than 3000 credits to further stress test the Store throughout the flight process. There should also be a quantity counter Boost and Swap packs since this is a reoccurring purchases to allow customers to own how many packs they currently have acquired. As for the UI, it would be nice to be able to allow customization or a few rounds in the weapon drills while sitting in the lobby awaiting matchmaking.

Update #2
I am a Game Dev to so it’s possible I can provide more insights into the bugs I find
Bugs
UI:
-
Estimate Wait Time field variable when matchmaking is nearly always 0:00 - On the Last Match screen (accessed by the UI button): a) The Battle Pass Link in the upper right is hard to access - clicking multiple times is required. b) Under the Scoreboard Screen, Bots names are replaced with “”, c) Under the Scorboard Screen then clicking a Player in the Leaderboard, there is no shadowed or blurred shader to hide the UI elements sitting behind the Player stats screen, making the UI mostly unreadable and confusingOther:
-
It is possible to matchmake for a game, be placed on the black loading screen with the 3 loading dots and be returned to the Main Menu with no error message. This breaks the flow of the game and should be adjusted - Clicking on the Social button in the lower right causes 2 ‘Audio click’ effects to play. Everywhere else in the UI, online 1 is played - The TRAILBLAZER Helmet does not display it’s attachment when clicked - It is possible to return to the Armour Hall Screen (before selecting your armour, wearing armour you do not own by: 1)Head into the armour piece you want to apply. 2) Click ATTACHMENTS tab. 3) Back out of each screen until you are at the first Armour Hall Screen - The “Options” button on the Armour Hall screen is not clickable by Mouse - Ticking an armour coating with the mouse does not apply the armour coatingPoints of Interest:

Hit Detection with the CQS48 BULLDOG seems questionable. I think it’s range should be slightly extended along with the damage drop-off - The MLRS-2 Hydra is more of a chore to use. It isn’t fun and I think the damage is incredibly low for the projectiles it fires - Both of the pickup weapons described above feel underpowered. These are power weapons and I should feel powerful roaming the map with them. Instead they feel harder to work with and I actually avoid using the Hydra as I find it less reliable with TTK being higher than other standard weapons or so it seems - The Outline shader of the Grenades seem a little in your face. The outline should be thinned as it’s very thick. The grenades themselves are already large in terms of the models size and you really can’t miss them. The outline shader is a good call though, don’t remove it. I’m sure in custom games it would be hard to find grenades from the pile of bodies. Maybe have it as a variable setting for each game modeGame Performance:
-
I am slightly worried about how erratic the game can be in terms of how it handles key aspects of the game. Some Examples: When loading the game, my CPU is only sitting at 15%. I have a Ryzen 3600. Why is this limited specifically? Moreover, my fps is also limited so I don’t understand what is going on here. Another example includes Game Crashes. This seems to be more memory leak from somewhere as there isn’t a specific place or time this happens - I am also worried about the general level of performance from the game. It is difficult to see how far in development the game is and I’m running 50fps on a 6800 XT on a 5v5 map which is tiny. Although I’m sure you have every optimization and algorithm in the book to apply to your systems, this far in development it is worrying. However it is nice to see that the game runs smooth during gameplay which is a sign of quality development. Moreover, you’re minimizing your testbase by leaving optimization this late in the development process. I hope that people running on a 10 series (and AMD equivalent) can actually pay the game, otherwise the level of feedback you receive will be minimal. I will assume there are optimization features not yet implemented but are to be added such as Texture Streaming etc., as there aren’t toggleable options for them
Overall satisfied with the gameplay. It is a bit harder to hit your shots in comparison to H5 (where it was way too easy). Also, like the UI of the menu. Some things that could be worked on:
In-game UI
- Put the grenades, weapon (ammo), and score back to the old positions on the screen. Especially the score is hard to get a quick look on, as the bars aren’t above each other now. For competitive gameplay, this would be a thing. - Make the ammo visual again - Put the emblems back to the left side and make it slightly bigger. Getting a double kill or killing spree would satisfy you as a player much more in other games. It doesn’t give that extra feeling now. - Hard to tell if an enemy is low/one-shot because the shield effect has the same color as the outline. Could be fixed by making the shield effect the opposite/complementary color (or always keeping it yellow)"Don’t fix what’s not broken"
Post-match scoreboard UI
-
The tables are white. Make it the same color as the team colors/outline to make it more clear.Armor Hall UI
-
Maybe a small text under the different parts to give it a more clear overview. Now you have to hover over the armor piece to see what it is.
