Infinite Tech Preview – Training Mode

I really enjoyed playing the new Training Mode this flight, but I did have some issues. Here’s my input (keep in mind, I played on an Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-53):

Bugs:

  • Sometimes, I’d try to select a map in Training Mode and after giving me the 3-second countdown, it wouldn’t load me into the game. Don’t know why. - Bots seemed to target me much more than they did my teammate bots. They still fought my teammates, but clearly went after me more and that made Training Mode unnecessarily difficult. I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but if so please change it. - While not as often and as bad as last flight, the bots still “lined up” perfectly in unison a few times and it was noticeable. It made things a bit too easy sometimes.
    Feedback:

  • From what I saw, bots didn’t interact with vehicles enough. I feel like the mode would’ve been more immersive, and thus, better at training players if the bots tried using vehicles like Warthogs and Ghosts just a tad bit more.

Agreed that it would be nice if the bots would utilize vehicles, especially if your bot team mates would enter a vehicle with you. This lack of them joining in made warthogs and tanks useless in training mode.

Also, as a player who seldom played in multiplayer I found it discouraging trying to learn how to dodge and such with every bot attacking me before I could learn anything. Maybe a training mode in the training mode that would slowing get harder as a person learned. Maybe that is beyond the programs ability though. If so, I will probably not join in on multiplayer since I find I am no help to team mates as my lifespan is extremely short and I have been unable to improve it.

Looking forward to the games release though.

Me encantó.

(Amigo, lee las reglas de los foros de Waypoint. No puedes escribir en español porque los devs leen los foros y es más leerlo en inglés).

Dude, please, read the guidelines of Waypoint. We’re not able to write on spanish because the info going to the devs and is easier to them read it on english. Just edit your post, isn’t necessary to eliminate it.
But yes, the academy mode, the balance of the weapons and the improvement of choose every botom is awesome-

I really enjoyed this mode! I can practice trickshots, and explore the sandbox and maps. I loved the idea of hot swappable loadouts. However I came across to bugs.

  • After customizing a loadout and reopening the menu it would reset back to a BR. - After giving youself equipment in the loadout, sometimes when you respawn the equipment would vanish on respawn.

Training mode is awesome, the bots are great. Would have loved to be able to pick what weapons they hold/stop them from picking up weapons. So we could all practice pistols only or snipers. I know others wanted to make them have no shields.

It loaded fast and the changes took effect really well. It was super fun to play. Would be good to set a target and it ends like 10 minutes or 20 headshots for example so you can put a self imposed cap on playtime in there.

Set training options before start.

General

  • Not sure if this bug is elsewhere, but often your personal AI will name an equipment when you spawn “drop wall acquired” or “grappleshot obtained” but you will have no equipment. Usually this happens after you’ve messed with the equipment setting.
  • The training mode menu is super bugged. If you change options, then scroll down, then scroll back up, EVERYTHING you changed will be reset, or sometimes set to the current weapons you have, which is extremely frustrating and broken. Also, if you change weapons and equipment while respawning, seemingly undefined behavior occurs, and the weapons you spawn with are totally different from the ones you just selected.
  • Allow players to choose Bot loadouts. If this is already what is supposed to happen when selecting weapons in the menu, then it doesn’t work most of the time. A new section should be added for bot equipment, grenades, and weapons distinct from the player options.
  • Bots get stuck on all maps in a variety of locations. Sometimes this means they will just strafe left to right in a tiny area (maybe one or two spartan widths) but other times they will stay perfectly still, and usually other bots will get stuck in the same position, which makes for easy multikills, but is buggy, undesired behavior.
  • Bots should be able to use vehicles
  • In general training mode needs more options
  • Bring back friendly fire
  • Multikill medals never work unless a kill is a collateral. Otherwise, no matter how fast you kill bots, you never get a multikill medal.
  • Bots seem to know exactly where you are even if they can’t see you. When you pop out of cover they know exactly where to aim without even having to look around. I noticed this because when playing with players, they react much slower to you coming out of cover, and don’t instantly laser you from across the map with the AR.
    Sandbox
  • Aiming feels strange. I’ve heard others saying it feels kind of off. It’s hard to describe why or what the issue is, just that it feels very different. More aim assist is needed for controller
  • The skewer is very underwhelming and difficult to use. Maybe I’m just bad, but I’ve heard many people saying similar things.
  • The sniper is much harder than other games and I think that’s a bad thing. When even Mint Blitz struggles with it, maybe you’ve gone too far.
  • On the subject of the sniper, descoping is broken. There is plenty of proof on youtube; when you are scoped in and aimed at someone’s head, if you zoom out, you will miss the shot; if you zoom back in, you will hit it, without moving the reticle in the slightest
  • Being shot at should push you out of scoping, regardless of if you are using a real scope or ADS like with the AR.
  • The AR desperately needs to be nerfed. It is far too powerful at all ranges.
  • The physics seem off. Especially with vehicles, which are simultaneously too heavy and also light as a feather. They bounce on tiny invisible bumps in the terrain but also don’t flip over nearly as easily as in past games.
  • The repulsor should push the warthog significantly like it does the other vehicles.
  • The ghost takes too long to right itself when it gets pushed off course or caught on some geometry
  • The gravity hammer damage and speed is fine, the problem with it is that it barely packs a punch in terms of physics. In past games, people and objects would go flying, while in this game, it feels like it imparts the tiniest push.
  • Player collision… where is it? It’s not halo without player collision. Also it can be frustrating when firing if a teammate just walks through you and your rocket blows up in your face.
  • Pressing the sprint button a 2nd time should make you stop sprinting. This worked great in Halo 4 and it is very frustrating that the only ways to stop sprinting are to stop moving, slide, attack, or use equipment.
  • The reticles in general feel too small, and in particular the warthog reticle feels way too small. At least give us the option to adjust their size.
  • The warthog lacks punch.
  • Bring back plasma pistol EMP. More counters to vehicles is not bad, and that means vehicles can be a little stronger, which is also not bad.
  • The drop wall is totally useless. There is no reason to ever use it; it gets melted almost instantly by most weapons and items. It needs a big buff
    Sounds:
  • The needler still sounds bad. The change is in the right direction, but is still not where it should be. It just sounds like an SMG, not a needler
  • Why is there a little ding whenever you kill someone? I guess that’s just an industry standard nowadays. It would be nice at least if you could turn it off.
  • The gravity hammer sounds are just boring. Right now it just sounds like a dull thud, like someone dropped a heavy box. In past games it used to have a really cool and unique futuristic sound, and it would be nice if that sort of sound, or something totally new that captured the idea, was used instead of the boring sounds currently in game.
  • The warthog lacks volume
  • Spartan Chatter - super annoying and repetitive. Each voice line sounds like it’s out of a children’s movie. Let us turn this off completely.
    Personal AI:
  • Not sure where this piece of feedback belongs, so I’ll put it in each thread in the hopes that it is seen. Every single personal AI is incredibly cringey and annoying. There was never a single line of dialogue that came out of their mouths that did not detract from the experience, with the only exception being tactical information. I want to be able to turn them off completely, or for there to be other Personal AI that are not so poorly written and acted. However, by design, turning off Personal AI takes away tactical information, so the best compromise would be to allow players to turn off everything except the tactical information.
  • They also repeat themselves very often. I heard that this was scaled back since the last flight, which I didn’t play, but it is still a problem.
    Visuals:
  • The shadow maps and textures are super bugged on Bazaar (and a bit on Live Fire), they pop in and out and flicker super fast.
  • Destroyed vehicles look barely damaged at all. Visual vehicle damage indicators need to be amped up significantly. In all other halo games, it was easy to tell if any vehicle was destroyed.
  • The transition from a vehicle being in the EMP’d state to the normal state is jarring; it doesn’t exist. If some kind of interpolation is being used, it’s either happening too fast or is not working.
  • Projectiles (mostly the bullets from human weapons) look cartoony, like little blobs, instead of like how actual bullets look, which was captured quite well in other Halo games. If this is how 343 wants the game to look that’s fine, I just think it’s a downgrade.

Training Mode is great! A few changes would make it AMAZING!

Was hoping to get a feedback email but my main observation has been said by many and I’m hoping that it something that you’re working on. I would really like to see my stats as I am training, along with badges, accuracy, etc. The Badges are announced as I obtain them but there is no place for me to see what all I earned in a training session.

It would be amazing to have objectives to make it more than just learning maps and practicing against bots. Adding Slayer, CTF, Strongholds, along with every Multiplayer game type. If those were added and you could fully customize each game that would really help give training more purpose. Being able to set 25,50, or 100 kill count goal in Slayer, or 3,4,or 5 flags in CTF would be a huge advantage and make it a really fun experience.

As someone who struggles having great success in PVP I really think full customization would allow a player to grow their abilities to a place where they are proficient in PVP. It would be great to play bots in Slayer (or any game mode) at a certain difficulty until you become dominate to which you can up the difficulty would be helpful to so many players that want to get better and better at Halo!

Full customization and Objectivs will really make training mode an amazing tool in helping players get better at the game.

  • Spartan bots have act like they have thermal vision. It’s one thing to have high skill, another to have unfair abilities. - Infinite ammo does not turn off. Worked the next day. - Make it be able to set to game of 50 with time limit to test specific weapons for a game - Can edit options before match starts but switched back to Marine and AR anyway

any news on next beta

That sounds very cool! I have a hunch that what you describe will be possible in custom games and that maybe Training Mode will be a bit more simple for the people just getting started.

En este modo, me parecio bien para aquellos que no estan familiarizados con el juego, ademas de que te da la oportunidad de mejorar tus habilidades.
