Hello again second halo review !
One thing that felt un-halo like in this second day flight was that mid-game, when I got killed my body fell in the gravity canon. As any halo fan would, they would expect their body to fly thru the canon like a rag doll like in Halo 3 but sadly it did not. This took away the joy you had when you died and coincidentally landed on the gravity canon. In the sense, that you can’t be as bummed out that you died since you can watch your body fly across a map and crash land and have a good laugh.
secondly, mid game I was mid-gun fight with the whole time against my team in BTB. It was gorgeous with all the things going on and explosions happening. My complain is I was hiding behind a broken down warthog that was already exploded mid-gun fIght with a buddy of mine, then the worse happens and the warthog disappears and we get destroyed by gunfire. I would suggest having the broken vehicles last longer in battlefields to give it a more war like scenario than having them spawn just a few seconds after they explode. Maybe even have them last the whole game in the battlefield cause the broken vehicles can turn into new cover for players to use.
Let dead corpses be able to take the Gravity Canon, Float on water, if not this breaks the lore, that a heavy dead body can’t take the gravity canon. ( let corpses stay on battlefield indefinitely or a bit longer) - Allow broken vehicles that are not drivable stay in the battlefield until the match is over, to give the player a more in-depth realistic halo game. ( let vehicles stay on battlefield indefinitely)
the training mode in the flight is fine, but i saw footage of a training mode, explaining the core mechanics of the game. let us dive into THAT instead, cause i think that will be more relevant than a mindless endless slayer match
This is single handedly one of the best things they added just for learning everything. Its so fun to try all the weapons i want without having to fight for them and figure out the best way to use the gun with worrying about my ammo capacity.
Training Mode Options should visualise Weapons, Grenades and Equipments with icons alongside their names because:
What if I don’t remember the name of the weapon I would like to use?
This could be a very good learning opportunity to associate names and ingame icons.
Since Training Mode aim to teach new players all the important stuff, this could be also a good opportunity to teach icons and names.
So, just warmed up in Training mode and started out with Marine on Behemoth. And everytime the AI got the Sniper rifle they would drop down and like lag forward then backward or just sit there and stand completely still. And i could walk up to them and then they would look at me and not shoot.
Also another bug i found, is when I loaded into the training mode and press the pause button while i was loading in, when i did load in i couldn’t shoot or move. I could aim, zoom in, & look around. I could turn my body around but my feet would stay in place? Is there a way to fix it other then leaving the game and restarting
This mode felt great! I felt no discernable lag on my end unlike in other modes. - Bot difficulties felt pretty well tuned. ODST’s felt a little bit below what I was playing against online, Spartans’ felt close enough to online if maybe 10% easier. - This mode was perfect for warming up and getting a good feel for all the tools in the toolbox. - I’d love to see extended bot difficulties maybe based on an average player from each skill bracket? - Great inclusion of the ability to tweak loadouts! I’d love to see a similar options list to custom games in the past and continue this ability to modify in game. - I don’t believe the bots were able to utilize vehicles? I can’t recall seeing them enter one nor hoping in the warthog that I was driving nor when I was the gunner.
I’ll start by saying Training Mode is a great addition! Many times in the past if I wanted to practice learning a map I would either boot up forge or a custom game. Now I can practice with bots which will be infinitely more fun.
Overall, I love training mode but I do have a few criticisms:
I would love to have a scoreboard. I see no reason not to have one, as even forge mode has a scoreboard that tracks kills.
I would love if Bots behaved more like individual players. Currently they just huddle together more often than not. We should be able to adjust how aggressive they are and their lone wolf/ team player tendencies.
Bots are too aware of their surroundings. It is nearly impossible to sneak up on them or flank them, especially on Spartan difficulty.
I have encountered a few issues with the spawns on Recharge. A couple of times I have spawned just around the corner from one or more bots. This luckily hasn’t been a major issue but should be on the radar as consistent bad spawns are infuriating.
Descope is inconsistent. I’ve noticed that if you are using a 1.4x scope you will not get descoped when taking damage. This just makes gun fights feel inconsistent and at times can make it feel like you aren’t taking damage.
The Training Mode is wonderful; such a great way to warm up, experiment with the sandbox, and feel like a badass. LOL
A couple things I’d like to see added in future are the ability to have multiple players together in one Training Mode match, being able to have more bots in a match, and bots driving vehicles.
Of course I understand the game is still in development, and I’m sure it will be better at launch and beyond. These are just a few suggestions. Overall, really looking forward to the full release; I’m sure it will be just as fun and better.
Training mode was great. I love how I can just mess around and see what I can do with the sandbox at my own leisure. Bots seem much better tuned compared to the original flight a couple months ago.
Some issues I experienced
Bots don’t use vehicles - Several times, my training mode settings would revert to default in the midst of adjusting other training mode settings - Screen would flicker on occasion while making adjustments to training mode settingsRunning on an AMD 5800x with Nvidia RTX 3080 (latest drivers: 472.12) on an ultra wide screen (3840 x 1600 @ 160 Hz)
Sometimes the friendly and the enemy bots never spawn in spite of changing the settings - The options in the setting gets reverted back to default in spite of changing the settings few seconds prior
On Series X whenever opening training options menu, settings would always revert back to default even if I only changed one setting. Also on Behemoth the equipment that I selected to spawn in with would only spawn in with me once, after a death the equipment would not be available on respawn.
Ryzen 7 2700 4Ghz - RTX 2080 Ti - 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 - B450m chipsetTraining mode is an amazing addition to Halo. You can drop in, practice, drop out and go right to matchmaking all warmed-up. I have experienced some issues with the bots, though. Mostly their spawns, friendly and enemy alike. They tend to get stuck in one spot, usually on a weapon/grenade pad. I would also like to see them all use more varieties of weapons, as they all just use the Mk50 Sidekick after using their primary weapon extremely briefly.
I love the idea of the training mode and being able to essentially have your own personal match, Its epic!
Unfortunanely this is where my enthusiasm ends, because since the beggining of the flight i have not been able to get into the training mode, or load it, The only time i was able to play it was due to a glitch where i got into a friend’s squad and then exited it when they where at the training mode menu
i’ve sent a ticket twice about this issue and have not received a answer
this whole situation was just a tremendous bummer for me, killed some of the hype, feedback and the fun i could have had.
add the ability to train with a fireteam; - add the option to train in BTB maps with 12 enemy bots; - make the bots able to use vehicles so that we can learn how to react to them in a low pressure environment.
Overall, I love training mode. It is especially helpful for me as I am switching from xbox to PC. But here are some bugs I found and some improvements I would love to see.
Usually when I change multiple settings near the beginning of the match, they all just sort of reset. This happens 80% of the time for me.
Sometimes when I pick up a weapon it is set as the default in the training options.
When multiple bots die at once they sometimes respawn on or near each other and get stuck. This is probably not just a training mode thing, but it is most obvious there.
