I noticed that (spartan) bots tend to ignore grenades thrown at them, specifically when I broke line of sight.
Training Mode Issue:
I don’t like how there’s no score board in training mode. I like to keep track of my kills, deaths and also end of game accuracy. I wish there were modes you could set this would also encourage more offline users to want the game and purchase it. Hopefully in the future even include BTB on training mode, unless custom games will allow you to have bots.
I notice if you try to get another person in your game at least in the tech preview it sends you to custom games and won’t let you start. Upset how I get do training mode with my friends during the preview.
The bots sometimes don’t even push to engage or find you, I would find them sitting still until I got in their line of sight or radius. They also would only group up when one had weakened me which is a cool feature but is annoying. I feel like Spartan bots are a lot better the ODST. No major complaint on this but I feel like there’s a big gap.
In multiplayer and training I was experiencing the same known UI issues with sliding and more.
Hello I noticed a lot of bots get stuck in certain places in the maps:
A spartan bot continues to go to overshield but doesnt pick it up and just walks around it until engaged.
Bots stay in the Tunnel of live fire where the Bulldog spawns until an enemy walks up to them.
Bots on Recharge tend to get stuck in the small corridor that starts near the grapple hook spawn.
Bots seem to not play to their strengths as they often pick up plasma pistols and needlers while they cant seem to use them as effectively as the pistol or the ar.
I tought the training mode was really great over all
But i had a few issues whit it.
Especially for the bots that would bug into wall are bunch up at the spot of a power up, but they would never pick it up. I also would have liked if there was a scoreboard in training mode so i could know how many times i died, how many kills have i done and for how many time have i been playing in this mod.
So this way i could know if i made progess in my gameplay
Mantle/ clamber drops performance on Series X consistently, nearly every time.
Needs to be fixed before released. I’ve raised a ticket.
Figured I’d throw input here too even though I’m sure much of what I have to say has been said. I found that often the bots were just staying still. Also, my Training Settings often changed with death. This is more general feedback but I found that I often clambered up an object, then immediately fell down as if I never clambered. Otherwise, I did enjoy running around training mode a lot. I think the Spartan bots are more efficient in general though they don’t seem to throw many grenades at all now (just funny to note given how great they were with nades in the last preview). Overall really fun though!
Hey guys is the flight beta open right now to play weapon drills ? or is it fully closed until the 30th?

Yeah mine is doing the same with thought you could do weapon drills and training mode all week but I guess not
Spartan Bots have 2 issues with their accuracy:
- With human weapons (AR/Pistol/Commando) Spartan bots are much too accurate with their first several shots, but then just keep firing relentlessly and become extremely inaccurate with their later shots (Bloom), instead of firing in bursts. Their base accuracy should be lower but should be more aware of weapon bloom affecting their later shots. - With Covenant tracking weapons (needler and plasma pistol/carbine) they seem only marginally better than other Bot difficulties, since they don’t seem to lead their target enough to hit moving targets with these weapons. (Though it’s possible that it may just feel this way because they are so much better with hitscan weapons)
Since it is a Training Mode it could be very useful to view statistics at the end of the session (deaths, kills, accuracy).
can we still play right now ?
Pick an option to play specific modes so you can understand game types like CTF and King of the Hill
Training more should have more options as:
- Bottomless Clip
- Bots Primary/Secondary Weapons/Grenades
- No Shields (for Swat training)
- Vehicle Spawning
- Bots Movement (Bots without movement)
I think this training mode is a good idea! Practicing aim can always help you against other opponents. I’m not sure if i missed anything about the training, but as far as i know, the bots are just standing still. Now players would be just jumping around the map but that s besides the point. Could we maybe add harder difficulties in training mode. Not difficulties where they shoot back, but instead they move around left to right, right to left, forwards and backwards etc. then the higher difficulty, the faster they move. I could understand why players would have trouble with it, but that’s why I suggested that there should be difficulties. Easy mode, they just pop up, you shoot right? So medium, they pop up and move. Then hard mode, they pop up, over a bit faster, and go down at a faster pace. So you have to kill them faster. Still though, if no change is made, i wont be disappointed. It’s already good for what it is. However, it can be better. I hope others can agree with me.
Edit: keep up the great work you guys! It’s looking really good! Love ya
Training Mode is really great! But I think it would be better if:
- We could change training options before launching Training Mode.
- We had an option for a timer.
- Weapons were not set to default when we pressed the Start/Options button (and clicked on Training Options) just after we died.
- We had a way to see the score.
- We could simulate a real match.
Nonetheless, Training Mode is a great way to train with different weapons, equipments and difficulties.
I like alot the training mode.
It heavily reminds me to the training mode of fighting games where you have control on your bot opponent and their behaivor, ive spended a couple of hours in there having a really good time already as it was the first thing i jumped into it when i had access to the flight.
I made sure it felt like a typical halo match on odst difficulty and it was a really enjoyable experience as it reminded me to custom Lan matches i used to do with old friends, i turned the difficulty up to spartan and i spended most of my time trying all the weapons and equipment that were avaliable, familiar faces and new challengers before even touching other menu options of the flight.
I hope its not the only mode besides the campaign where you can train and play with grenades and equipment before jumping into a real match online.
Feedback: The bot difficulty should be separated into two teams (Friendly team and Enemy team)
I think it will be fun to give us the ability to choose the bot difficulty for the enemy team and another bot difficulty for the friendly team to make the game more different, interesting and fun
For example:
- Friendly Team: Recruit difficulty Bots and Enemy team: Spartan difficulty Bots - Friendly: ODST difficulty bots and Enemies: Marines difficulty bots - And so on…Currently, the difficulty we choose for the bot applies to both teams with no way to separate the difficulty into two teams
Feedba**ck: I think the bot in training mode should have the 5th difficulty after the hardest difficulty, Spartan, which will be called Random
With the “Random” difficulty; each of the individual bots on either team are spawned into the game with the pure random difficulty (Recruit, Marine, ODST and Spartan), it would bring in interesting and various games that could be challenging or easy going based on the RNG of the bot’s difficulty for any players which could keep them more engaged with the Training mode and it could be the most realistic when it comes to preparing both the new players and experienced players for the matchmaking as it can be random with teammate and enemy player’s skills and playstyles
Training Mode is a lot of fun and great way to be able to fine tune setting and how to use weapons. The training settings menu is easy to use. Would like more fine control over it. Such as having the ability to have different difficulties for friendly and enemy bots. Such as Friendly bots are set to marine and enemy bots set to ODST. Also the bots need to be able to use the vehicles. Also being able to put a time limit or goal in place would be great. A setup menu before starting training mode, more than selecting map. Having the training mode settings at the training mode main page would be great. The playfight setting is awesome, feels like a open arena weapon drill mode. I feel the Bots need to make more use of grenades. Also I feel like we need a Legendary or Nightmare difficulty. The bots at Spartan difficult though better than in the first flight feel more like the AI on Heroic campaign mode. Currently I feel Recruits difficulty are friendly AIs in campaign, Marine difficulty enemy AI in easy campaign, ODST difficulty enemy AI in normal campaign, Spartan enemy AI in Heroic campaign. Also it would be awesome but not totally needed but be able to set each bot to a difficulty. Enemy bot 1 set to Marine, Enemy bot 2 Spartan, friendly bot 1 ODST, friendly bot 2 Recruit etc. etc. Love how the bots would use all weapons, they are really nasty with that needler on all difficulties they are Legendary difficulty with that weapon. Up close they tend to suck at aiming with all weapons at close range though. They tend to miss really bad. Love what we have in the training mode settings. Also having a it possible to do training mode with friends would be awesome. If it does stay the same it will still be a great mode. The additions mentioned would make it EPIC.
