Hello thurrr, so um really miss the spartan thrusters so thought maybe you could add it back as like a default for when you start n have nothing also I always loved a good spartan tackle that only happened after sprint was activated so if that could possibly be brought back that would be cool. Some features don’t seem that necessary like the sprint streaks or the hud flash on the down d-pad since it doesn’t show much critical info, maybe switch it out as a spartan ability switch button if the thrusters become a default lol js. I noticed somethin different from the melee attack like it doesn’t home-in like it did before when used on a red reticle so please fix that cause I was always big on a good melee hit since it’s a damage source without a limit that’s always good when close up, also had this issue with the hammer which surprisingly had a long swing time which forces you to follow the target till the swing hits. And I don’t feel like I’m being rewarded for my performance either like before for medals n such. Should add a map screen option like if you hold the back button, or whatever it’s called now, instead of just pressing n have it show key points and/or add it being shown at the beginning of a match. The game runs pretty smooth it seems but I feel like texture wise I guess I’d say it seems like it looks not as good as 5 but figured that’s cause it’s the test so :man_shrugging:t4: Hope that gets cleaned up. Think that’s all I have for now, thank you guys.

Most of the interactions so far seem to end in melee deaths. The weapons feel overall slightly too weak, which I think causes a lot of players to use the gun to slightly weaken, and then a single melee causes the death.

Is it possible to mute individual players? I can’t seem to find a way to do this other than to adjust the main audio settings to disable all game chat.

I do not like having the team score counter right smack in the middle of the screen.
Can we move it back down to bottom left/right tucked neatly above the minimap?

Default Loadout (AR + Pistol) feels strong and balanced, but also too well rounded to the point where a moderately skilled player can go the entire match without picking up power items and still do well with these two weapons.
I wouldn’t mind having Ranked modes with ONLY AR + Pistol starts, with only power weapon pickups, but for Social, AR + Pistol is just too perfect and makes players not wanna explore the weapon sandbox.

Suggestions :

  • AR only start
  • Pistol only start
  • Buff BR
  • Buff Commando (Commando is literally just a glorified Pistol at the moment)
  • Skewer definitely needs better hit detection
  • Sniper has same issue as Skewer

I did not get to play in the previous test, but I have found that the new radar being tested in this build seems to be harming the flow of combat on the map. Often the best choice in most situations is to sit back and wait for the opposing team to enter a choke point and throw grenades at their pips on radar from behind cover then finish them off while they try to dodge grenade spam. I would love to be able to test the previous iteration of radar as it seems it would allow players to move around the map more and be more successful as an aggressor.

After a lot of fiddling with aim settings I think a lot of my issues with them were mitigated to the point the game felt playable with a controller. I think I’ve settled on the real issue being that the Sidekick is not working well. I can’t pinpoint what the precise problem with it is though. With the BR I can 4 shot and it feels recognizably like Halo has all the way back to Halo 2. With the Sidekick I am all over the place. I can rip off a Perfect kill spamming the trigger one second and the next I am taking a full second or more just to track a target and put a reticle on them. My guess is that there are variances in the factors of aiming (reticle tracking/stickyness, bullet magnetism, red reticle range) coming into play with the Sidekick at different engagement ranges which are not present when using the BR.

At this point, my main issue has been the melee combo that a lot of players have been using.
It can get frustrating to get constantly killed in a matter of a second when approaching an enemy player for a melee attack.

i play on xbox one x.

from what i’ve seen so far there’s a bug where i cannot have smooth frames in any match, unless I refresh my graphics settings to performance. i have to redo this process during every match i play.

shadow and shading glitches, and texture popping on bazaar.

an occasional glitch will occur where i can not customize my spartan thru the armor hall unless i completely restart my game, and this was also prevalent in the first flight back in july.

spamming reload button and mele button will allow you to have a rapid mele, completely ignoring the cooldown in between hits.

i have been shot and killed through walls. by the time i finally saw the enemy that was shooting at me on my screen, i was already dead. i have around 30 ping and open NAT type.

sidekick needs rebalancing. it is a 7-10 shot kill at ALL ranges. it needs a damage drop off range nerf because it can win gunfights against the BR and commando from insane distances. but it’s aim assist range should also be buffed so it can compete against players on pc.

spawns need reworking, i found myself spawning closer to enemies rather than on my teammates or in a safe space.

radar distance should be buffed to 25 meters.

SPNKR and needler explosion sounds are not loud enough.

please address these issues

This is a great call out. I had the same experience with my friend today. It seemed like the maps we played were better suited for a rumble pit game rather than team slayer. Everything felt like it was on top of each other rather than some distance like previous Halos.

I heard a lot of bad feedback about this radar.

Yea itʻs not like Halo 5 or Halo 1, the pistol lost its luster for distance play.

It appears that the splash damage from the rocket launcher can kill people through various parts of the map. Not how it normally works in most games so just thought i’d mention it.

It seems that it can occur in many other places as well, including the double doors in the same map. The same thing happens on various props/doorways/corners throughout the other maps. Haven’t tested other explosives/grenades etc.

Im stuck on the lobby screen trying to load a game with the UNSC logo flashing on and off. it wont find or add me to a game. and advice or assistance?

Iʻve read most of the comments on here and some of the feedback is great, the rest sounds like bad little kids complaining that they got owned today in Halo LMAO!
How can you ask for more aim assist? Or ask to remove BxB when anyone can use it? I wish they brought back BxR and double shotting, those were tough maneuvers to pull off in the heat of battle and made players with real dexterity able highlight the skill gap. There will always be pro players and casual but do some of these writing in the forums know where they fall on the scale?

As for game feedback…

Radar - I heard a lot of people talking about the radar today. It did seem to have a short range but I didnʻt mind it, we shouldnʻt be staring at it. Look around the game and be immersed. If people are coming up behind you and assassinating you then you probably shouldnʻt be standing still looking out a window, this isnʻt COD.

Maps - The three maps we played today seemed more designed for rumble pit then team slayer. There were a bunch of crazy spawns that put me behind players and gave kind of an unfair advantage. Also, the maps were kind of compartmentalized so many encounters were 2v1 or 3v1.

Graphics / Smoothness - Graphics looked great and I was honestly impressed with the frame rate. There were times I was doing moves that I expected the game not to keep up with but somehow it did. My friend was on an older Xbox though and had some frustration with lag which is expected since this is a next gen game. The game overall definitely seemed faster paced even more so than other titles which I wasnʻt expecting. Halo has always had a different gravity and been very much based on marksmanship where this felt extremely tactical. Not a bad thing, just a call out.

Features - I loved the fact that you can mark areas and players on the map. This was long overdue considering some players have different call outs. It will make it much easier to play with new players in matchmaking.

Equipment - The equipment seemed very balanced and didnʻt give anyone a huge advantage. The invisibility is sick, it is super hard to see someone which caused me to blind fire a few times until they came out. I expected the grappling hook to be a game changer but itʻs just another cool addition. When you have it thereʻs an extra chance to escape or flank a team but nothing unbalanced.

Weapons -

  • I like that the BR was kept traditional and the four headshot kill is still a thing. BxR would be dope though
  • Commando - This gun was fun to play. It had the close range burst you want and you can even tap it for the long range felt like a great upgrade to the past version which was rarely used in PvP. Also a cool comp for the DMR.
  • Pistol - I heard a bunch of players talking about how the pistol isnʻt great at long range, well if you line up your shots it can land. I donʻt know if pistols are really designed to be a long range gun even though Halo 1 and 5 made it like that. I think at long range a BR should dominate a pistol every time and close range vice versa which is what I experienced today.
  • AR - Some people are talking about the AR being over powered that is crazy. It felt like it already got a nerf since the last flight. If it gets any weaker you wonʻt be able to defend against a power weapon.
  • Grenades - although the animation was different the amount of force needed on the controller to launch one felt familiar. I would like to see the spike and electric grenades get a damage boost. They felt underwhelming compared to the plasma and frag.
  • Pulse Carbine - I like the tracking bullets, will we see a regular carbine to compete with the BR?
  • Bulldog - Iʻm surprised that this gun doesnʻt do more damage up close, it leaves very little to comp the gravity hammer. Maybe we will see the sword and traditional shotgun in the near future?Canʻt wait to see what is coming next! I love the fact the beta is going strong, hopefully this will make for a smooth release. We canʻt have another Outriders or Cyberpunk! I hope you guys prioritize those players buying the game first since the PvP will be free to play.

This flight feels better then the last for sure! But I still feel like the frag bounce is slightly off, they seem to travel much further on the bounce and people are constantly over shooting. I understand aiming down but depending on your controller sensitivity sometimes it takes a while to aim so far down.

Also aim assist really is needed for people on controller. This is going to be a big issue going forward as this game continues to be cross over. I’m not sure if aim assist is need but maybe just a slightly larger hit box on players

Map issue: Secret vent Bazaar grapple
In Bazaar, when in the underground room near rocket spawn, can you change so that if you have grapple shot you can grapple from the bottom of the vent to the vents at the top? Currently, the spartan just hits the top and falls back down, since the space is a crawl space and the spartan doesn’t fit. It would be a cool getaway/movement option if a player has grappleshot in that area.

BXB melee exploit:
Currently you can spam BXB very easily and can do pretty much instant melee kills. I’m guessing this will be fixed?
