Infinite Tech Preview – Social Arena

So, the game is looking cool so far, but there are some things that frustrates me a lot while playing that i think it needs to be double checked:
The balancing is kinda broken, the Assault Rifle is too powerful, needs a nerf in distance effectiveness and damage a litte bit. The camo could be a little better, because it’s really easy to see one. Some vehicles, like the warthog in specific, is really easy to be taken down, it could be a little bit more tanker (even existing the razorback that is a more resistent warthog).

The aiming issue lots of people are talking about; it’s really hard for some reason to control the aim, not only because it has low aim assist, but it just feels strange, different from any other Halo game, to aim.

i’ve been suffering with some bugs that were really frustrating, like happening rollback constantly, specificly after climbing.

i’m from Brazil, and i got in some brazillian servers on the flight, but the server was not feeling good at all, it fellt a lttle bit laggy, maybe doing some double checks on that server would be a good idea.

Conclusion:
The game has lots of possibilities, and if you guys make the game it smoother, resolving some issues and maybe the ideas i mentioned, i’m sure will be way more fun to play it!

Social Arena feels good and I’m very happy with it. The maps don’t feel to big and are not too small for a 4v4 mode. The pacing of the maps and game modes also are fine and are a good mix of fast paced and slow paced gameplay. I don’t have much complaints about it other than some latency issues and rubber banding in some matches. I’m looking forward to what else there is for launch.

Warning: this is my opinion! Do not get but hurt please.
/////////////////
I mainly played social arena during this past weekend. But I feel like over all there definitely need to be a balancing fix with a lot of the weapons and power ups. First off before weapons.
/////////////////
Time to kill: The ttk (Time to kill) is REALLY bad and rewards the player who can hit their melee button fast enough.
///////////////////
Quick melee: Quick melee… With in a split second I was getting double meleed. In all the other halos there was a recovery period. I believe it’s a button mapping with scuf or elite controllers but it’s gotta go. Either buff the ttk or lower the health of Spartans.
/////////////
The Assault Rifle: Good God does the Assault Rifle need a buff. The spread on the gun is horrendous. You must be dead accurate with it to even get a single kill without dumping a whole mag into a player. And consistency is really bad. This is the typically close to medium range weapon and I’m getting beem from the other side of OS catwalk on behemoth.
////////////////
Mk 12 Sidekick: Oh boy. This I thought would be an interesting weapon when I saw gameplay. Now using it. I literally drop it out of my hands every time. 7 shot kill? And that’s a PERFECT you’re very lucky to land all 7 unless you’re very good with it.
////////////////
Bulldog: As a die hard Infection player of Halo reach, 4 and even 5. I loved the shotgun. But now… We have the pre buff EVA 8 From apex in our hands. I hope in a later update in the full game we see the iconic shotgun we all know and love.
/////////////////
Skewer: -Yoinking!- hate this gun. With a burning fire in my soul I hate this gun. This gun is literally luck in a Spartan laser form. No scopes are close to impossible. Even ADS is difficult to use with this thing. It’s really really bad.
////////////
S7 Sniper: I haven’t used this weapon too much because I’m not an accurate sniper. But when testing this it really threw me off. You have to be close to 100% Accurate with it. But honestly I won’t pick up a sniper. I’ll leave it for the better players.
///////////////
Heatwave: Oh do I love this gun. This is one of the weapons I really enjoyed using in game. The combos with this gun is insane and look forward to using it in the full released game.
///////////////
BR: I have mixed feelings about the BR. It feels really nice and not much kick to it. But again it’s the ttk with it. It’s not a 4 burst. I’m having to land almost 5, 6 up to 7 burst on one person. It is also not the weapon of choice when multiple enemy players are shooting back at you.
/////////////////
Over shield: Is it me or did the Nerf OS into the GROUND I love running for OS but in Infinite it need a buff I feel. It doesn’t last as long as other games like halo 5 and there’s not much extra health with it.
//////////////////
Active camo: God I love the active camo. This is another enjoyment I have with the game. I always run for this. Without the implementation of assassination animations (not yet at least) going for back smacks and Ninja’s with active camo was a blast.
////////////////
The Ghost: Oh does this vehicle piss me off. There is a bug with the ghost to where you can’t jump out of it when it’s stunned by a plasma pistol. And when I figured this out the hard way. I literally got off the game. I couldn’t believe that this was a thing.
/////////////////
The Gravity Hammer: FREEKILLFREEKILLFREEKILLFREEKILL Literally that all the Grav Hammer is it’s a free kill weapon.
//////////////////////
Plasma Pistol: It’s really strange with this weapon. I’ve tried to noob combo a few players in game and the bullet just doesn’t track to the player. I honestly don’t know how to actually feel about it.
/////////////////////

The sniper rifle needs some serious tweaking it feels almost impossible to hit people when you’re scoped in, and you might as well just give up if you’re trying to no scope people. Compared to every other halo sniper rifle this is by far the worst I’ve played, you just can’t hit people. I find I’m purposefully choosing not to pick it up because your starting weapons are unironically better then the sniper.

Grenades in general feel weak. Plasma Grenades and Spike Grenades seem to not want to stick to enemies a lot of the time… Rocket Launcher also feels week, I had two enemies in front of me basically beside each other and I shot the ground at their feet and one died and the other survived… definitely should have been a double kill. Drop wall still feels pointless to me. Bubble Shield would be way better. I find the Commando sounds way more powerful than it is… thought I would love the Commando but I prefer using the assault rifle instead which is crazy because that is my least favourite gun in past Halo games. I think the old Shotgun needs to return. Not a fan of the Bulldog, plays too much like the AA-12 from COD. A slower more accurate shotty would be awesome. The vehicles can use some tuning on the driving aspect. Warthog doesn’t turn the best. The Ghost feels slow and heavy. I do hope we can change the colours of our Emblem and Banner as well. Also hope a level up progression system like Halo Reach could be added in at some point in the near future of the games release to give you more reasons to come back if you have hit 100 in the battle passes. I think Apex Legends added that in their game in Season 2 or 3. I think thats pretty much it from me. The game itself is awesome! Love that I can change the colour of my team and the enemy team (I’m rocking Lime and enemy team is Carrot which those two colours together are perfect)! Love the A.I.’s, gives the game more personality. I’m super stoked for December. I haven’t been this excited for Halo since Halo 3! Thanks 343!

In PC, Sometimes when you finish a match and you skip the match outro to the lobby faster to select another playlist, it just keep “Connecting” and doesn’t let you press the “Start” button to look for another match because it is “Connecting”. In game you can’t fix that, you need to close the game and enter again to fix it.

I don’t want to be ‘that guy’ and as you say these are just your opinions, but it generally sounds like you like guns that you generally don’t need to aim as well with (Heatwave, want a better shotgun) and don’t like the fact that every precision weapon is hard. Some of them definitely need rebalancing for sure, but precision weapons are meant to be harder to hit people with aren’t they?

Je n’ai eu aucun problème sur ce 2ème week-end, pas de crachats, pas de baisse de FPS, rien de tout ça, c’était un sans faute (XSX)

I think the equipment should be made more distinguishable on the map. They all look pretty much the same when they’re not collected. Maybe add different colors to them to make them look more unique? Something that makes it easier to tell which equipment it is from distance.

Loving Halo Infinite so far, maps are awesome, guns and movement generally feel really good.

Things that could be improved…
-Randomized or swapping weapon/equipment pads is not fun. I wish it were consistent throughout a game, its not fun to find an overshield one time and an invisibility the next. I think it should be one or the other on each map, whichever optimizes gameplay on that map.
-Drop walls feel useless, holes get punched too quick to be helpful.
-BXB is broken, please fix!
-On many outline colors it is hard to tell when an enemies shields are broken, it has always been easy in the past seeing the crackling shield animation.
-Movement is a little sluggish, especially sliding. It does not feel smooth, coming out of the slide I feel slowed down so I’m choosing not to slide.
-It is hard to clamber or some angled surfaces that it allows me to but takes 2-3 tries which is rough mid fight.
-Rear melee hit box seems inconsistent, either no damage or not a one hit back smack most of the time when Im directly behind someone.

my overall thoughts:

  • the BR is perfect
  • i dont mind the AR
  • pistol needs a buff
  • bulldog is trash. needs major buff
  • i really like tue commando but it might need a slight buff
  • sniper could use a very slight aim buff to be in-line with previous halos
  • wheres the covenant carbine :frowning:
  • it feels to me weapons dont get as much ammo as previous halos but i could be wrong
  • the arena maps are all pretty bad except Behemoth
  • needs to be a ranking system like halo 2/3

Overall its a lot of fun and i hope community maps make it in because they are better than 343s

Okay so a few people have mentioned this, but the needler definitely needs more audio feedback when you get hit by individual needles. There have been countless times where I all of a sudden get supercombined without even noticing I was getting hit by a needler. Also the general sound while someone else is shooting a needler near you is far too quiet. Again I will be almost point blank from someone who is shooting at me with a needler but I will only barely hear the actual projectiles being shot out. I think the balance of the weapon otherwise is honestly fine, maybe could do with some refinement for the tracking ranges, but otherwise no issues with the needler.

The Motion Tracker/ Combat Sensor Range is too small. It should be raised to 25m. Gravity hammer physics are disappointing, the grav hammer should have similar physics on objects around it like in previous games, and you should be able to get a jump boost by grav hammer jumping. Also, the grenade knockback is too low, and the knockback should be increased to match previous Halo games.

Respawn time should be 4 seconds.

Tanks/flying vehicles spawn too rarely in big team.

Sniper ammo max capacity needs to be 4/20 and starting ammo needs to be 4/8.

BR max ammo needs to be 36/108.

Add at least 1 more power weapon to arena maps. Used to be 2/3 on maps back in it’s prime.

Buff bulldog and heatwave to where they are one shot up close, maybe slow down their projectiles though.

Nerf needler a bit.

Nerf grav hammer (speed up swing speed, reduce area of effect)

Make BR’s slightly less forgiving and make pistols slightly more buffed to where they are balanced at medium range and add in BR/AR playlists for ranked and make BR/Sidekick playlist for hardcore ranked.

Nerf AR from medium/long range.

Buff commando slightly

Have a BR spawn and a commando spawn on both sides of map of arena and don’t alternate the two weapons.

Slight aim assist on controller, much stated already

Have both active camo AND overshield on maps instead of either one.

Don’t alternate power weapons, like I said have multiple.

Bots are majorly improved, guns feel great, movement feels a tad too sweaty for social, and it’s a little buggy and getting some crashes and matchmaking error messages but hopefully most of this should all be patched in for launch!!

8/10 right now even without campaign.

I have a note about progression (xp, challenges, etc.)

I wish how well I do in a match had some impact on my progression. I’m guessing the challenges only model has something to do with the battle pass and not wanting the really good players to tear through it too quickly and I totally get that. I’s just a strange deflating feeling when you super well in a match but your progress bar doesn’t budge because you didn’t happen to complete any challenges that round. I wish my medals and score were worth something at the end of a game, even if it’s just pocket change, like 1 to 3 xp per kill/medal/objective or like a percentage of my score becomes xp, like a tip. “here’s your bounty for finishing our challenge and here’s a little extra for a job well done ;)”

I agree, I wish that I would get more XP by the amount of kills I get. Maybe adding a threshold of kills might balance the kill/death ratio.
Maybe if you simply based the XP off the points received on the leaderboard with the K/D ratio instead of just kills.

DUALSENSE controller support: This is probably a long shot but I played all weekend with the Dualsense controller. If would be awesome to at least support the haptic feedback on these controllers. My major dream would be to add support for the adaptive triggers on PC like the PC version of Call of Duty Warzone does.

  1. AR…while I love the AR it is a little strong. I think the damage is honestly fine but it does need a range reduction.

  2. Radar, it feel lacking. I don’t think the radar should be such a main staple that you rely on it 100% of the time but it feels useless most of the time. I feel like it has a range of 3FT sometimes; I push objectives where the enemy is but still don’t know who is there until they all suddenly jump on me. Maybe a slight range increase because again, right now it feels like a totally useless part of the game.

  3. Experienced minor bugs and glitches on the Xbox version (using Series X) but nothing really on PC. Only issue with the PC versions would be streaming…started getting extreme lag and my system was suffering.

Other than what was referenced above game felt great! Can’t wait to play more.

After all 3 flights and big team battle I over all enjoyed every thing. Here are my take aways.

  1. Hardware matters. People with an Xbox One and lower end pcs are not going to play much, especially pvp. The game is virtually unplayable because you can’t aim.

  2. The network code seems to have went backwards from halo 5. There are way too many wtf moments. So many times you turn a corner, take 2 steps, there’s zero line of sight, and then you die. I also had many times where I put an entire magazine in to an opponent and still lose the 1v1. One time I had an over shield and me and the other person ran straight at each other, neither missing, and some how I lost. There’s just too many stories like this. And yes, I play on very good connections and have a xbox series x.

  3. THE AR HAS WAY, WAY, WAY TO MUCH RANGE. Btb confirmed this. I would sprint to get a br, start shooting someone 100 to 200 yards away, and immediately be taken out of scope by the AR that hardly misses even at very long range. No ability to use the scope. This makes mid range weapons not very useful. I would say ever say well past 200 yards this happens.

  4. The in game ui is just too busy. Too much info. Too much to try and read.

  5. All of the sarcastic announcer remarks become annoying very quickly.

Over all though I’m very pleased.

After playing the Beta the past weekend. There were a few thing that I saw that needs a bit of work some minor tweaks and twists. I would like to see a bit more balance in matchmaking in general. The ghost was bit over powering with the time to kill ratio being a bit quicker than the past halo games. I hadn’t mess around with any of the other vehicles through the time period that I played. But, I also noticed that the time to damage a vehicle with weapons took a bit longer as well. (Understand that I understand that the vehicles are suppose to be a power weapon of sorts.) Moving on to the weapon aspect, The magnum I feel needs a buff of some sort. A seven shot kill just takes to long and takes away the possibility for a multi-kill medal. The AR is a bit over powering, you have people who run and gun that are rewarded for the spray and pray tactic. You also have the ability to shoot someone with the AR pretty much across the entirety of the map. The melee lunge has been taken out. I know that the grappling hook was suppose to take its place but just a little bit of a lunge would be great in those melee battles. When running from a battle with no shields if you are able to get away those shields regenerate immediately after you stop. In past halos there used to be a recovery period where the shields wouldn’t regenerate for a time period after running from a battle. The needler is a bit overpowering, Unless this was going to be used as a power weapon it needs to be nurf’d. Those are the major things that I have come by through my Halo Infinite BETA experience and why I find the game a bit unbalanced.

With that being said I have also found the game just as fun. The game is aesthetically pleasing from the graphics of the weapons, the landscape, and vehicles. The games’ sound affects are great and the personal AI is amazing (even though it can be a little much at times.) The one major aspect that I do like about this game is that I am able to map-out my controls to the way I like to and not having to chose a preset. Maps ran great except for the map Behemoth which is just to big for 4 v. 4 game play. The game ran smooth for it to be a beta maybe a few hiccups but nothing to noticeable. This is more of a complaint that will correct itself on my end in due time but the weapon spawns are a bit frustrating. At times I feel the game becomes more of a weapon hunt then actually playing the game. so if there was some way to be able to indicate those weapon spawns.

Overall I would give my Halo Infinite experience a solid B+. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into this game and 343i put it all out on the line. I am excited to see and play the full release for the game and can’t wait for December to get here.

First and foremost. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO JEFF STEITZER. We do not care for the AI they are annoying, talk WAY too much and are repetitive. Please give us the option to turn them off. Why does Jeff not announce the beginning of the game, when I get most medals like revenge, when I take the flag (I don’t wanna hear the AI), we want more Jeff and less AI. THEYRE ANNOYING AND JEFF STEITZER IS AS HALO AS MASTERCHIEF.

Second off WHERE IS FLYING RAGDOLL PHYSICS. Why do I hit someone with a gravity hammer and they just fall to the floor. I want to hit someone with a rocket and see their bodies go flying 20 feet in the air. Please put this in the game by launch how could you just take that out of halo.

Third off, this game plays like the old halos and it is beautiful. But it does not FEEL like halo. The sound design has been scaled back to the old ways a bit but not enough. We need more of those ICONIC sounds that bring us back to the old games. These would be (Respawn timer, The shield low beep, Plasma Gun Sounds the plasma carbine sounds like -Yoink-, The old Phantom sound and gun sounds because the new one is lifeless and sucks, The old gravity hammer sound because the new one sucks -Yoink-, The old gravity lift sounds, at least for the energy gravity lifts.) AND MORE JEFF STEITZER!

Over this is the best Halo since reach and I can’t see what can possibly happen between now and launch to change that. December I will be inside playing this till my fingers bleed.
